“I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the SaltBox Cafe. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the staff was very polite and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious, and the portion was perfect for me. My coffee was kept topped off and warm. The other patrons that were regulars had a little banter going on with the staff that just added to the charm of this little Cafe. I would definitely recommend it and will return!“

“We ordered inside and sat outside in the back because we had our dog with us and Arts Place has a wonderful backyard for furbabies! When our food was ready they called us to come up front to pickup, the inside dining room was full. The burgers were delicious as always. We stop here a few times a year!“

“Favorite brewery in the outer banks. The place is really cool, it’s right on the main road and easy to get to. Beers are all good, the head dipper is probably my favorite IPA I have ever had actually. They are also dog friendly and the back yard becomes like a dog park at times.“

“Hands down our favorite shop in OBX and absolute favorite place to get Açaí. Our family has a tradition of getting açaí wherever we go, no matter where we travel we look for the best açaí place. We cannot even begin to explain how much we love the açaí here. We went every day 3 days in a row and have yet to find a better açaí place. Shop is so super cute like a posh boutique and the owners are so friendly and you feel like you're going into a shop where like Cheers "everybody knows your name". And we can't forget the soft serve and waffle cone. Something for everyone. We will find vacation homes in Obx based on the proximity of it to this shop! Not to mention their packaging which screamed quality and attention to detail. Everyone was so nice especially considering we were a group of 13 and with all our order and specs for each they were so accommodating. We could go on and on but really it's meant to be experienced for oneself!“

“Cute little place with just what you need! A quick meal, refreshments, and desserts in one place! Found it by accident but will definitely look for it again! The grease spot in the wrapper is always a sign you're about to eat something your soul desires!“

“Fun atmosphere in restaurant/market, with great wine selection (lots available by the glass) and quality food. Service was above average, and even the music was great (mellow classic rock, not live, but sometimes they have live music). Good variety in apps and small plate options, delicious seafood choices, and you can tell the folks in the kitchen cook with passion and a care for quality food. Some good gluten free options, but very sadly, no GF bread or sandwich buns. The market sells a great selection of gourmet food items, beautiful cheeses and wines, funny cocktail napkins, and even some prepared foods.“

“Deliciously well-prepared food. Service was ok but not what I have experienced in the past. Not a lot of people there, so was expecting much better service. Will definitely return. Draft beer choices were ok, and the World Stout was good.“

“This is a bar, and we were looking to grab a couple of pints of beer, and a bar named "Tap That" sounded like it should have a good selection of beers. They did offer 16 different tapped beers, but not one of them was an IPA. Most beer joints that I've been in have too many different IPA's (hazy, imperial, new england, etc...). So we worked around that, and had the pilsner that they offer. They also have several fruity sours that have become more popular these days. The bartender was Phil - decent guy. Chatted a little with him, and he did a good job of remembering people's drink orders (for refills). It's a small joint, but it worked for what we wanted. Limited parking (maybe 4-5 spaces), so if you can walk there, that would work best.“

“Growlers To Go has a fantastic selection of beer on tap for your growler but also a great selection of four and six packs as well as an option to make your own six pack. We stopped in after lunch and we're the only ones in the store for quite some time. While the taps are primarily NC, VA, and MD beer you do have a nice selection of beer from other breweries to chose if you wish. They have Founders KBS for one which can be challenging to find in my home town. While there is no bar to "belly up to" there are stools to sit on near the door. The 5 oz / four beer flight for $10 was a good value and allowed us to sample several beers each.“

“Vegan options were so tasty. Also I love their French fries. I know I shouldn't judge a place just on their fries but they're seriously so good. Good beer options and local sodas. The atmosphere is also nice and not cramped.Vegetarian options: Their vegan or vegetarian options are great.“

“The bartender Chris greeted us and made us feel welcomed. Very nice guy! He recommended the Ahi Poke Nachos and it was delicious!! My husband ordered the lobster and crab grilled cheese with fries as a side. I tried both and it was also delicious. I ordered the steak noodle bowl and the flank steak was cooked perfectly and it was tender. Very good! Definitely would recommend these items. Cant wait for our next visit in 2024.“

“The Chorizo Smash sandwich is probably the best sandwich I have had in a long time. It is clear the sandwich was crafted by a true professional that knows what they are doing. The price was a bit high, but that was expected being in the tourist rich area we were visiting.“

Their beer selection on tap is awesome and of course they have a good selection of cold bottled and canned beers to go. Remember to bring your growler too. “My husband and I had the opportunity to dine here yesterday, while visiting from Charlotte . Our server was an amazing young man named Jason. When I shared with him that we were extremely pleased by our experience and the amazing food, he shared that he was the son of Liz, the owner, and that his uncle worked there as well. I asked him if I could meet his mother to tell her how pleased we were. She graciously came out of the trenches of the fryer to speak with us. I commended her on her amazing restaurant, food quality , humility and resilience. This place is a definite destination anytime we are in OBX! Food and service were impeccable!!!!! “Barrier island bagels has the best bagel sandwiches I have ever had. I would highly recommend the hangover cure with scallion cream cheese! The restaurant is adorable! My friends and I have been here twice on our vacation and we have loved the food each time. The only downside to Barrier Island Bagels is that the service can be unpredictable. On our first visit the service was nice. In our second visit, service felt more hostile. The employee who sat us was very welcoming! Unfortunately, at times; it feels that being served is an inconvenience. It is worth the uncomfortable service because the sandwiches are incredible.“

“We ended up here after our plans to eat at another restaurant fell through. We were pleasantly surprised with this restaurant!Don’t be put off by the fact that it is attached to a gas station. We wondered about that too.The dining room is small an intimate. Our daughter is very sensitive to loud noises and was able to relax here as the music was soft and the dining room quiet. There are maybe 8 or 9 tables and a few bar seats to sit at.The food was great. The service was great. The scallops my wife ordered were some of the best she has ever had.And for a bonus, a review from my 11 year old son:“This was a very good restaurant, it’s very underrated, it’s quiet, the food comes out quick, and they’re playing college basketball on the TV, plus the food is the best.”This restaurant will definitely be on our list when we vacation here again in the future.Kid-friendliness: Quiet space. “The staff was knowledgeable and the beer was very good. The space is small but you are right there with the brewing equipment. I had a flight with the saison, blonde lager, honey pale ale and the sour. All were very good. Definitely worth stopping in for some refreshment.“

“Best little breakfast deli in the OBX!!! Me and my fiancé come here almost every morning every time we visit the outer banks, and the food is always amazing and not over priced like a lot of other places around here. We've also come here for lunch too, and i love their fried seafood baskets, i particularly like the fried oyster basket, they definitely give you your moneys worth in food. There's not really anywhere to sit inside since it's more of an in-and-out type of place, but they do have picnic tables right outside that we sit at when it's nice outside. The people working here are also always so nice and welcoming, which always makes us wanna come back too. This place is 10/10 and I rave about it to everyone.“
