“We had dinner last night. As a 15 year + customer, I can see the new owners changes. Food slipped a bit - the tuna special was good, but was a cheaper cut of fish than in prior years, and grits and salsa were really mashed potatoes and oil. Atmosphere slipped - Cheesy paintings on the walls instead of classic rock and blue album covers, and most annoying - blaring Country and Western Music. In 15 years, I barely noticed the music - but you gotta be kidding me - the place is loud already and personally, constant C&W music annoys me. Also, the iconic specials chalk board is replaced by cheesy TV screens. The place lost its vibe, and food is declining. I will try it again, but no longer my favorite restaurant.“

“I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the SaltBox Cafe. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the staff was very polite and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious, and the portion was perfect for me. My coffee was kept topped off and warm. The other patrons that were regulars had a little banter going on with the staff that just added to the charm of this little Cafe. I would definitely recommend it and will return!“

“THIS place has our hearts and tummies pleased beyond measure! My youngest daughter, Hannah, has Down Syndrome. She was treated like the princess from the beautiful staff. Each time we came into dine, they knew her name. Plus, the food is fabulously freshly made and delicious. Way to Go!!!“

“Overall, I had a mixed experience. While the porkchop had good flavor, it was unfortunately overcooked and a bit dry. However, the smashed potatoes were excellent, offering a savory complement to the main dish as well as the fried mac and cheese. The service was exceptional; the waitress was friendly and accommodating, even going the extra mile to include a generous piece of cake to make up for the dry porkchop. The atmosphere of the restaurant was delightful, especially as I dined upstairs, which provided a refreshing change of pace and offered a unique view of a small backyard through the window. Despite the culinary misstep with the porkchop, the overall experience was pleasant, thanks to the attentive service and enjoyable ambiance. Highly recommend all their deserts.“

“I posted my review on X because I honestly loved the food and atmosphere here. Everything is fried, but I think that one day a year, it doesn't hurt and I'm not going to deny myself the experience. As an appetizer I recommend the CAJUN FRIED CHEESE CURDS served with jamaican jerk aioli, it is a dish that I did not know and that my new friends invited me to try. The truth is that they were delicious, to be honest, I would have eaten the entire basket by myself. Another interesting starter is the fried pickles with ranch sauce. My friend can't eat beef, so her favorite is a chicken fillet burger that I was able to try and it is phenomenal. My selection was the FRIED OYSTERSlightly golden fried with spicy remoulade and lemon (fried oysters) more out of curiosity than anything else. They didn't disappoint me, I was already into eating everything fried. But if you don't want that much fat in a single day, there are also raw, baked and grilled oysters on the menu. Another thing I loved is that you can choose not just one, but two sides of hand-cut fries or mashed potatoes (dinner only). Another option is coleslaw (to appease the conscience). I chose the fries and macaroni and cheese to complete the American experience. The service is fast and very friendly. The prices are reasonable. Something I liked is that I ordered my drink half with sugar and half without sugar and that's how they brought it to me. I'm still not used to zero sugar, but that's where I'm at.Observation: I wanted to take my family on a Sunday at 7:45 at night but it was closed. Google says they close at 9 so this really surprised me.“

“Visiting outer banks from Ohio we stumbled on this place and were delighted we did. Great Healthy food (Coconut Wrap and Kelp noodle bowl) along with great smoothie and other hard to find unique foods we bought for the ride home. Delightful owner! If we lived there, would be a definite GO To on a regular basis!“

“Delicious! I think that is the best word to describe the experience. It was packed when I went with my family, and from the moment we entered, the smell of fresh, freshly made food enveloped us. I mention this because I am very susceptible to smells, and my tasting experience begins with aromas. I also have to highlight the service, which is excellent. When you enter they ask you for a table for how many people and help you choose the place. We were served pretty quickly, everything was hot and freshly made. Be sure to order the fries, they have a technique to sauté them with garlic and cilantro and they still remain crispy, they are phenomenal! The nacho starter was enough for me as a main course. My husband ordered the burger in a tortilla. I tried it and it was equally delicious. He was also satisfied.Vegetarian options: Mexican food with vegetarian optionsWheelchair accessibility: The entrance from the parking lot is fully wheelchair accessible.“

“We enjoyed this venue two days in a row and will stop back by before our trip is over. The soups and sandwiches are fabulous and homemade with love. Recommend: the Caprese Sandwich, Loaded Baked Potato, and Chicken Noodle Soup. Prices are great. Staff is attentive. For a delicious affordable meal that hits the spot try Ladles!“

“Truth be told, I have never been to this establishment, but like most, I read the incredible story of the owner driving across state lines to deliver a last meal. I genuinely believe this deserves the utmost recognition, as kindness like this is rare. I wish this restaurant owner many, many years of success to come. I hope to one day dine here.“

“Went for their acai bowls! And hubby got a milkshake. Both very good!! I liked the fact that the acai and the fruit were blended separately so you got layers of flavors. I also appreciated that it wasn’t overly sweet. It was also nice to look in the shop while you waited for your food. Everyone was really nice too!“

“The Donughts were legit fresh and amazing! However we were more blown away by the service. My daughter lost her backpack and she asked them if they had seen it. The owner (I presume) personally dropped what he was doing and went to look for it. She found it elsewhere but It is nice to know the world is still full of good people. But seriously the donughts are gooooood!“

“This place is out of this world! First‐ our server, Luke, was top notch. He was kind, helpful, and friendly. We ordered the the Chef special which is a sampling of a majority of their their menu. 7ish items. I am from the mountains and not a big seafood fan but we scarfed everything in front of us. All the food was seasoned to perfection. Lastly, the beignets as dessert were delicious! As a vacationer, I would come back to OBX just for this restaurant.“

“I like that he knew my dietary restrictions since I am on a Paleo diet. He had gluten-free and vegan menus. Between the two he helped me find some things to eat. It is fine dining in Corolla where there isn't much of that. We had lovely date night. We go every year.“

“I was out of town with my kids for spring break, and we were hungry. We’re looking for something good we was route. It was real close to our hotel. I went ahead and called an order ahead for carry out. It was right on time. Wasn’t running late, ready as soon as I got there. There are a lot of sales around, but only some are in my opinion traditional cells, pizzas, and this place was authentic. The staff was so nice and the food was delicious. It is located right on the beach road mile 10 it is definitely worth the trip and it is definitely worth the price!“
“The perfect cake for our wedding!Candice was great to work with. She was very responsive and helpful at all times. My husband and I ordered our wedding cake from Sweet Coast Cakes In September 2023; it was the best decision we could have made when picking a wedding cake vendor. Starting with our cake testing, all the flavors were delicious, but the vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream was beyond delicious; it was the best we had ever had. Further, the design of the cake was flawlessly executed. The cake was delicious and gorgeous, and the service was outstanding. We highly recommend Candice at Sweet Coastal Cakes.“

“This place is flying under the radar. We sat at the bar. Bartender was friendly and attentive without being invasive. Great drinks. Delicious meal. More baja or California style tacos which is what we prefer. Loved it! Can't believe it took us so long to go!“

“Stopped for dinner about 6:30 pm on May 26, 2024 (Memorial Day weekend). The restaurant was extremely busy, but the manager, Carlos opened the normally closed banquet rooms to accommodate patrons. Carlos and the wait staff were friendly and served everyone extremely well and service was exceptional. Drinks and food arrived in an amazingly short time, considering the crowd in the restaurant. I'm a local resident and have visited 3 Tequilas several times and have always received exceptional service and great food.“

“We have been going to the Rundown Cafe for quite a few years and they never disappoint. They are our top "go to" restaurant in the Outer Banks. They recently renovated and overhauled their menu. So far we like the changes. They still have Fried Chicken Mondays. The chicken is excellent and could possibly be the best meal value in the OBX. Andy was our waiter and he is both personable and efficient. Keep up the great work!“

“My girlfriend and I were craving some good pizza but all places were either closed or opened way later in the day, so we decided to stop by Max’s.To start off, the atmosphere was great. We came around 3PM ish on a Thursday and there was only one other person in the restaurant, so it was very casual. We were sat and served within 15 minutes with delicious wings, pizza & beer. The service was great, and the pizza was exceptional. I am from the PA/NY area and finding good pizza in general is tough, but this exceeded expectations. If you are looking for a very affordable, fast dining experience with excellent food while on vacation in OBX, this is the spot for you!“

“Great food and service. Finally, a bagel shop that has specialty recommendations which are totally different from each other. Fresh bagels AND ideas. lolThere's a lot of signage though, which provide good instructions but kinda made me feel unwelcome, as though we were bothering the staff by showing up.Friendly recommendation: if you need that much signage, then your setup is neither user friendly nor intuitive.Parking: Limited parking but there's nothing the company can really do about it given the location and surrounding businesses.“

“My husband and I had the opportunity to dine here yesterday, while visiting from Charlotte . Our server was an amazing young man named Jason. When I shared with him that we were extremely pleased by our experience and the amazing food, he shared that he was the son of Liz, the owner, and that his uncle worked there as well. I asked him if I could meet his mother to tell her how pleased we were. She graciously came out of the trenches of the fryer to speak with us. I commended her on her amazing restaurant, food quality , humility and resilience. This place is a definite destination anytime we are in OBX! Food and service were impeccable!!!!! Definitely recommend “
“All you can eat seafood and steak buffet, food was delicious and had many options to please everyone. Forgot to take pictures because I was so excited over eating. Ribeye was delicious option also if anyone isn't a seafood fan. Service went above and beyond and atmosphere was nice yet casual. Definitely recommend!“

“Best little breakfast deli in the OBX!!! Me and my fiancé come here almost every morning every time we visit the outer banks, and the food is always amazing and not over priced like a lot of other places around here. We've also come here for lunch too, and i love their fried seafood baskets, i particularly like the fried oyster basket, they definitely give you your moneys worth in food. There's not really anywhere to sit inside since it's more of an in-and-out type of place, but they do have picnic tables right outside that we sit at when it's nice outside. The people working here are also always so nice and welcoming, which always makes us wanna come back too. This place is 10/10 and I rave about it to everyone.“

“We ate here on Friday Oct. 20. Bartender was super friendly. Highly recommend the clam chowder, best we've ever had. I had the Grouper special and it great. My wife had the Tuna, was super pleased, cooked perfect and not many places get it right. They did. Chef was great to talk to. She explained a lot as we sat at the bar waiting for our food. Backyard bar was our kind of place. The band had to cancel because of rain but It would have been a great place to see one. Will go back next time we are in Duck. Thanks for a great experience.“

“Service and seafood at this spot were generally very good. Our wait service was friendly, attentive, and thoughtful, even offering me a refill of my iced tea to go. The mahi, scallops, and shrimp that we got were all very tasty as well. The only problems were slight - the host gave us a mix of lunch and dinner menus, which caused some initial confusion, and the chicken and pasta ordered by one person in our party appeared unremarkable and unnecessarily large. Also, the atmosphere is now a bit more upscale than some of the outdated Google photos might suggest - neither good nor bad, just different. But if you're looking for a nice dinner at Duck that won't be too pretentious while also not having to talk over loud music or sports, this is as good a choice as any.“

“You want seafood, you got it. All you can eat from snow crabs, shrimp, clams, or crawfish. Fill your seafood desires and more from a salad bar, deserts, and even some steak. But it ain’t gonna come cheap, but what do you expect from an all you can eat SEAFOOD. That never comes cheap but for its price of 45 per person it a deal you can make worth while. The service is great, constantly checking on you to take away plates or refill drink. It isn’t always perfect, but with how busy it always seems, they’re doing a heck of a good job. Give it a try as a special treat.“
