“We came over here for breakfast since it was the closest restaurant to our inn. My eastern omelette was great (veggies inside were perfectly done), as were the hash browns. My wife liked having baked beans as an option with her eggs. Coffee was very good and nicely replenished. Service was good and friendly.Karen and Julio were a great team and really take care of their customers.Call this one a hidden gem!“
“Food & drinks: If you're there while the bar and restaurant are open, Do Go! The food is phenomenal along with the chefs. The bar is savvy with a healthy selection of beers on tap, mixed drinks, and even a nice selection of wines to choose from.Noteworthy details: This petite bar/restaurant and hotel is a niche business. The B&B type, locally owned and operated with comfy rooms in the 1800's Colonial style house is a taste of yesterday with enough modern updates to make it fun and memorable. I love the staff and have enjoyed meeting friends for dinner and drinks here many times. Great spot for a birthday, get together, or other small celebrations. They even have craft faire sometimes. Reminds me of the early years of United States Freedom, baby!“
“The Woods Grille hosted my book launch party in their upstairs space and I would recommend it to anyone! Their hospitality was incredible, the food was delicious, and everyone wished the space was their own because of how well designed and decorated it is. If you're looking to host an event, definitely head to the Woods Grille.“
“We live in Sicily and have relatives who live in Massachusetts and Barnstead. While visiting in Barnstead we decided to take a chance and walked into this place. Tucked in back was a pizzeria and we decided from the aroma it was a good choice. Our pizza was ordered with light sauce and crispy!!!Let me tell you something!!!! The pizza was spectacular! If I wasn’t embarrassed I would have ate the entire thing. Perfection In Every way!La pizza era deliziosa! Complimenti!Nate was the pizza maker and I must say the pizzas we ate at Polcari’s in Saugus, Ma and Santarpio’s could learn a thing or too! Thank you!“
“Hard to believe that I've never reviewed this diner before. This is one of my regular stops. Most mornings, you can sit with the regulars at the bar. Some of the stories are hard to believe, but they are always fun. This morning, they were telling about the stupid things they did as kids. One admitted that he wacked a detonator with a hammer to see how high it would send the hammer. LoL I don't think I'd admit something like that. I told 'Fell off a Roof Twice, but Never Hit the Ground'.Oh! Enjoy the bread here. It's worth a drive and you can take a loaf home with you.Parking: There's more parking than seating and there's plenty of seating.“
“Was there on a busy Saturday afternoon. Only one bartender and two servers to handle a busy crowd. They did a great Job. Also saw the owner checking on customers and assisting the staff as needed. A good pub atmosphere with a good pub menu.“
“I was looking for something different in the area and found this cute cozy bar/restaurant with amazing food reviews. The food was really delicious! The lobster bisque was perfect. The prime rib, mashed and asparagus were also very yummy - served Fri/Sat nights. My friend had the fish tacos and loved that they were made with haddock, they weren’t fried, and the sriracha cream on them was just enough kick. We had a beer on tap which was good, though there wasn’t a huge selection and that’s ok there was just enough variety for everyone. They had a couple cocktail specials posted and full bar too.The sign warned outside for staffing shortage and to be patient which is to be expected now a days. However, our server/bartender was fabulous and the food came out hot and fresh.Prices were very reasonable and the vibe was lively but also comfy. I’ll definitely be back.Oh and they are closed Tuesdays. If you really love tacos, get them elsewhere on Tuesday and double down that week because they have $2 tacos on Wednesday instead!“
“Had the Reuben on rye, french onion soup, jalapeno poppers, chicken Parmesan bites. Chicken Parmesan bites were good, basically Italian bread crumbs coated bite size chicken pieces with Parmesan cheese sprinkled on them and Marina for dipping(a little more Parmesan cheese would've made them perfect). French onion soup was very strong and flavorful but it was a good flavor and well made. The Reuben on rye was perfect! The jalapeno poppers were basically what you expect with cream cheese filling. Overall very good meal. Wonderful waitress was fast, attentive and timed her table visits perfectly. Food was quick from the kitchen. Atmosphere was casual and friendly. My friends had diet Cokes with their meals and said they seamed a bit watery. We all agree we'd be going again.Parking: Plenty of flat, door adjacent parkingWheelchair accessibility: Flat parking lot with minimal door jamb interference but might not fit anything wider than standard. Plenty of seating options to move chairs and get right up to the table. Judging by the hospitality I'd be willing to bet they'd help in any way they could.“
“Magnificent view from this restaurant - you can see Parker Mountain, Sanders Ledge, Blue Job, and even(I think) Rochester Hill. We had burgers for a early dinner(late lunch?), and they were excellent.Beer selection was great, the food was great, and the servers were attentive. Everything was top notch. We'll be going here again in the future. The south side of the restaurant has a gentle ramp to the front door - it should be handicapped accessible.“
“I was a little skeptical at first as this is a difficult part of NH to make a go of a smaller/independent, quality restaurant - however that is just what Heartwood is doing. They are truly invested in delivering a positive dining experience at a reasonable price. The menu is limited, but that's ok with us because the limit allows them to focus and do it correctly. The food was presented well, came out timely and was actually flavorful without being overly sauced or buried/lacking in spices. I felt like Goldilocks finally finding "just right". The restaurant is not large, but it is clean, well decorated, the paint choices are lovely, the mural is a nice reminder of the area's past and the old vibe to the place is charming instead of rundown, as it should be. The fireplace was going when we were there as we were finally having a cold February day, which was a very welcome ambience boost, as a natural fire always is. I think Omer and his staff at Heartwood have a good thing going- especially for the middle of winter during a traditionally non-tourist time of year, they were still busy and now I can see why. If you haven't tried them out yet, don't hesitate - it's worth it.“
