“How hard is it find a good local bagel in NJ ? This wasn't a question I thought I would have to ask when I moved here 5 years ago. My bagelcoaster quest has taken me from mediocre to stale bodega bad. On a whim, I ordered from Bagels and More in Bergenfield. They delivered, literally and with the quality of their bagels. I order two bagels for research purposes. The sesame with scallion cream cheese was the perfect texture . Soft on the inside and had the coveted bagel "shell" on the outside. My second choice was an everything bagel with butter. The perfect amount of everything seasoning was added, giving the bagel flavor without making a mess. For a drink, I got an iced coffee. Through Tristate deli magic, it tasted exactly the same as every other bagel shops iced coffee. Comforting and tasty. Not sure why they all taste the same. Do I really want to know? That is a quest for another time. Try Bagels and More in Bergenfield, you will not be disappointed.“

“Purchased four breakfast sandwiches and a BLT plus a half dozen bagels. The staff is super friendly and they got the order perfectly right. The bagels are pillowy and delicious. The bacon, egg and cheese was so good the teenager inhaled two in record time. My sausage, egg and cheese was also scrumptious. Would highly recommend.“

“Best bagels ive ever had: better than anything in nyc and better than anything else in jersey. Everyone in there hustles and works hard. I kept seeing the team asking for a guy named Byron and he was super on top of everything. That guy is an MVP. Whoever takes the orders on the phone is also a star: always gets the orders right- every detail (and thats hard to come by).

Now i will say, a large part of what i do for a living is making the customer service experience at restaurants better and more efficient. Most restaurant operators will not take advice unsolicited but i wanted to give mine anyway in hopes of maybe one day they will consider some changes:

A lot of times when i come here i see frustrated customers waiting on lines. Lot of old men cutting the lines. Nobody knows where to stand and sometimes multiple lines form. The people waiting to place an order are also in the same line as people waiting to pick up their order. So, i would do a number of things to improve their systems:
1. I would promote ordering ahead for pickup on their website. There are so many great companies they can use which can set up an awesome website for them : my favorite is Figure or Toast.
2. I would modernize everything by having the tickets from their website come in via printers and everything typed out. Would control where the tickets went and set up multiple printers.
3. Would ahve order screens so kitchen staff can see the orders, in the order they come in (with time stamps) and mark them off as they go.
4. I would have a screen so customers can see which orders are “in progress” and which are “finished”. That way orders that are ready, customers can go up to their counter and mention their name. This system also works well if you have delivery drivers in your face a lot.

5. I would have 2 lines set up, divided with standing signs “order here” line and a “pick up “ line.

6.I would also have a worker whose only job would be: manning the register, cleaning up, attending to the lines. I see a lot of the FOh going to the back to get things and add things and that element is not typical in an efficient restaurant system. There should be an expediter who passed things to FOH so they dont have to go to the back and get in people’s way.

I would do more but i know that even a few of these changes would enhance the customer ordering and pickup experience and if done right it could potentially make the workers lives easier once they get used to the new systems.

I know they probably wont do any of this because they are busy and people love them and will put up with the status quo. But i will say one observation: i noticed most customers are of a certain age. Younger generations like and expect efficient ordering processes and dont like to talk to people: they like kiosk ordering and online ordering a lot.

The restaurants i operate do about 90% of their orders on online platforms. Its becoming the norm and i know many customers would appreciate a simpler way to order ahead, and get to go on that shorter “pick up” line.

Just a thought.

But hey, at the end of the day even if Bagel Nosh become more inefficient i would still come back because they truly have the best Bagels and their team hustles, and always gets everything perfect. I applaud the owners for being able to maintain such a strong team and the work culture there is impeccable- nobody is slacking off.

I found the bagels to be soft enough for my kid which was a big deal for him.

Ordered two iced macchiatos without the sugar which was really good

The lady at the register was sweet and welcoming.

“Absolutely amazing experience at Yummy Bagel & Deli! I ordered their stuffed bagel and it was seriously next level. A plain bagel loaded with cream cheese inside, then topped with melted cheese and garlic butter. So simple but SO good. What really made the visit stand out was the service. The owner came by to greet us personally, which was such a nice touch, and even let us try their coconut pound cake. They also have a parking lot, which makes it super convenient. “Broadway Bagel is good for a lot of things but it's better to tell you what its not good for because it's smaller. their pastrami, very chewy & fatty. I got a wrap & was horrible because I was fighting with the pastrami to bite off a piece & then getting fat in your mouth is disgusting. At times when I get a breakfast sandwich with bacon it's like that's when they choose to hide fatty bacon instead of giving you well cooked bacon. How does an establishment do that to their customers? The tuna wrap w/ French fries, I usually order but now they're adding lettuce when before it was onions & avocado now they're putting celery & adding lettuce. why did they mess with such a great sandwich? Certain staff I work with like their blueberry pancakes, homefries, BLT. But like I said too many times I bought a BLT & it was filled with a lot of fatty bacon. I look at my food before I eat it. They used to have different flavors of OJ, Mango/Pineapple, Strawberry/Banana/Orange, but now all they have is regular OJ. They're changing how they made stuff and they changed the working crew so all I can say is I mostly get breakfast. It's hit & Miss for a lot of things because I like my food the way anyone having a business should make the food for their customers; with love & as best as possible.“

“Came to the shop for the first time today and I adore the atmosphere. Gives such cool retro vibes. We got the turkey club, grilled chicken, and bulgogi sandwich. Each one is so good! The flavor and moisture of the meat stands out. Hands down the bulgogi was the best one - if you’re craving a Philly cheesesteak - this does the trick!

We met Paul, the owner of the shop - such a sweet person. He was so generous and thoughtful - we got bagels to go because he wanted us to try his French toast one. “So after being in New Jersey and going to about 8 bagel shops, I guess this is the one. So... I pull up and the first thing you will notice, parking is an issue. Luckily, people are coming and going so it took around 5 minutes to attain a parking spot. From the look of things, there may have been a parking lot in front of thee establishment before but it would seem that they decided to fill the parking lot with outdoor seating. From speaking to a patron, I understand because he told me that he always walks to the place. So on a nice day, I suppose the outdoor seating is great. You go inside and it's a small space and they have a few tables and chairs inside as well.

Inside and I'm in a line. Probably about 8 people ahead of me. I'm already thinking that these bagels must be damn good. Took about 10 minutes until I put my order in. In total I spent about 25 minutes at this spot. As I'm leaving, there are more people in line than when I got there. Just from seeing the bagels, they look soft and fresh. Just happy to have found the place. I get home and the bagels are just as good as they look. This clean bagel shop comes highly recommended and will be back! Great job guys!“

At first, I thought this alarming amount of sodium was divided among all 6 in one packageBut, in rereading it I realized I had been mistaken! I hope you would reconsider production in a more healthy range in the near future so that I could purchase again, without having to dump them as I've had to do.
