The decor is so island vibe you can just sit and take a moment to relax. Now the most important... the food is like no other. Never stingy with portions, and I haven't had one thing from there that did not meet my expectations. The macaroni puts everyone to rest that Jamaicans should not make it bc they have theeeeeeeeee best. The oxtails and curry are seasoned to perfection and taste like your grandma made it. “They hooked me up! Delicious food; good portions. I usually get oxtail from Jamaican restaurants. I'd say it's one of the top of the restaurants I've eaten from.

That said, oxtail is generally an expensive meat to buy and can be hard to cook right. So, it can be difficult to find places like this that give you a decent amount. And I've orderd from them a few times, so I can say their potion size is generally consistent from what I've seen.“

“Was walking home and stopped by to grab something to eat. Customer in the store recommended to try out the Curry Goat. I got the Curry Goat lunch special, stepped outside the store and eat the entire plate in 5 minutes flat.

Had to come back in the store and tell the workers it was one of the best things I've eaten in a while. Will definitely recommend to anyone!

“I know that Irvington definitely is a stop everytime I am in NY,NY and NJ because of Big G Jamaican. It’s the best feel to dine here as it’s like eating home. “I have been eating here for a little under a year and the food has never disappointed me favorite is the curry, goat, rice and peas, cabbage and plantain. However, I have tried the fried chicken red pea soup , jerk, chicken, oxtails, curry chicken, beef patty. Regardless, what you pick you’re gonna find chunks of ginger in it, so be careful as you eat some meals are spicier than others, but all are very flavorful in my opinion. I am hoping in the future to try the salmon option when they have a fish fry in the summer. I personally do not like any Jamaican restaurants, macaroni, and cheese, so I have not tried their version at all, nor have I tried the typical African-American sides like collard greens, candied yams, and so forth. I stick to the typical jamaican options for sides. I see signs for roti too never tried that yet . Rank the atmosphere three out of five because the neighborhood is a bit rough know in the area so be mindful of limitations on parking and people randomly standing on the side walk.“

“My partner and I decided to try this place based on the reviews and let me tell you it did NOT disappoint! We ordered the large jerk chicken meal, macaroni and cheese, and small chicken soup! This is a hole in the wall spot! Our food was DELICIOUS! I will 100% be ordering again but a LARGE chicken soup. The soup had so much flavor and the chicken just slipped off the bone! The mac also had so much flavor and was so good! The jerk chicken was a bit spicy for me but I don’t have a high tolerance to spice. My partner said it was good! He couldn’t decide what part was his favorite and said he would go back again! The service was great! Next time you get gas, help yourself to some hearty, home cooked Jamaican food!!“

“I have been going to Alice’s for about 5 years now. I am so happy with the food especially the stew peas jerk chicken curry goat and oxtails. Even when I was trying to lay off the rice for a bit they would try to accommodate me if they had extra food (yam etc) left over from breakfast to substitute for the rice. Whenever I have visitors I get them food from there. Even persons from Jamaica love his food especially the Jerk chicken. The owners are very kind. Give this place a try you won’t be disappointed. Oh and a nice surprise is that he uses oxtails in his stew peas meal 😬“

“Came in around 8pm after worked, tired from work, didn’t want to travel for my normal place I go for my west Indian food , I find this little gem and ordered to my dietary standards, got curry goat and all veggies and food was fresh tasting and very well seasoned and tender, was a bit surprised as I don’t like trying new places , definitely will be back to try different menu options, service is great and a welcoming atmosphere.. “I like that they offer a $10 lunch special, including veg and plantain with a soda...but it's only chicken. But seriously...you not gonna oder just that! You gotta get a patty or festival or something else that catches your eye. I had the curry chicken (a little spice but good) and a beef patty, bc they were out of chicken. I ate almost everything...and I don't feel bad about it! Will visit again, but try to avoid the out of school kids.“

“This place has in this town for 28 years, there is a reason why they have been around so long. The owner is this wonderful sweet lady that, she is definitely Jamaican be a those Pattie’s hit different. The oxtails are succulent and falls off the bones, the plantain’s are sweet and crispy on the edges. If you’re looking for delicious Jamaica food go here, always call before you go because she starts cooking in the morning and at times the food isn’t ready until after 12pm but it’s very much worth the wait. ????The prices are very reasonable but those Pattie’s are to die for.“

“Drive by this place daily and finally decided to stop. Pricy? Yes. But their oxtail was very good. The curried goat was OK. The only thing is that upon entering the establishment, it seems dark and not welcoming. The food is uncovered, and if you get there at a bad time, it might look dry and unpresentable. The customer service sucks. They work as if they're doing you a favor. I asked the girl if that's the only rice they had because there was barely anything left and the attitude she gave me. No I DONT WANT THAT. GIVE ME THE RICE IN THE BACK for my $22 a plate. I bought 5 food so I deserve better service. Thanks.“

I have waited two years to find a great spot and this restaurant nailed it ! When I ordered it was HOT/fresh and flavored ! The juices are soo natural and fresh ! You guys are doing a great job !“
