“As charming as the bakery is, it pales in comparison to Miss Eleanor, the owner. Over the past several years I developed a sensitivity to wheat, so I wanted a gluten-free snack. She had a wide selection of sweets (cupcakes, cookies, brownies) but I saw the picture of biscuits and quickly decided to enjoy them with my coffee.

I took Ms Eleanor up on her offer to warm them up and chatted while waiting for my order to be complete. We had a lovely conversation about so many things - food, travel, career changes.

The biscuits were delicious and very reasonably priced so I’ll have to make my way back soon.

“My husband and I made the long drive yesterday (2 1/2 hrs each way) from upstate NY to visit our daughter in NYC just for the day. While strolling around her neighborhood we came upon your lovely bakery and cafe and after eyeing the beautiful carrot cake in the window, we had to go in. Carrot cake is my favorite sweet treat. There were so many beautiful choices, but we got 2 slices of carrot cake to take back home with us. After the long drive back home we were really looking forward to a piece of cake and a cup of coffee. I opened one of the beautifully packed boxes, which revealed an enormous slice of yumminess!! The slice was big enough for at least 3 people. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Everything about this cake was phenomenal. The frosting was outstanding, the cake was so flavorful and moist. It was the best we’ve ever had. We have enough left for a few days. I’m so glad we stopped in. It was a great way to end our lovely day in the city and will most certainly go back on our next trek in . I will also have to get our daughter pick up some baked goods when she’s coming home for a visit. I highly recommend Crumbly Cafe & Bakery😊😊“

“Best focaccia I’ve had…ever? Stopped in at around 12:30 on a Wednesday - no line and they had plenty of sandwich picks available (but were out of most early morning croissants and pastries). The burrata and prosciutto was delicious. Get anything on their focaccia and you can’t go wrong!“

“First, I saw this shop online and was taken aback by the prices and the lines, but it was 100% worth the hype. The cookies are crunchy on the outside, gooey on the inside, full of deep rich chocolate, and as big as a person's hand. I recommend the two chip cookies and the peanut butter dark chocolate cookie. Their lemon bread and chocolate brioche are sold out frequently, so if you have a chance, absolutely purchase them.

“Best bread of my stupid life. I refuse to believe anything they sell is as good as this here heavenly most holy walnut loaf. For 12 dollars, this bread lasted me a week, in that time it brought so much joy, did my homework, cleaned my house, lifted my depression, I ate it all and I miss it so much that this is painful to write. The toast this made. The SANDWICHES. That this bread gave me. Go here and get this, tell then I sent you maybe they'll give me a deal or start sending me loaves or teach me their magical ways. I think I'm gonna have to do a real 180 and start anew as a bread maker because what better thing could I bring to the world but this bread? What could anyone?“

My wife after the long day she had put in the wrong address on the door dash order and the driver called screaming at me and wouldn’t come 1.3 miles to bring them even after explaining the circumstances. Door dash refunded my whole order without me even asking and I called Levain and they went above and beyond. They gave us cookies on the house and even threw in an extra chocolate chip and delivered them to CHOP. Not only are the cookies fabulous the hospitality is second to none. I am a lifelong customer to this location and want to thank everyone at the Rittenhouse location especially Mat who went above and beyond. Thanks again!“

“Stopped by for the second time while my car is being serviced at Lexus.
This is a very nice cozy bakery with comfortable seating. Great looking selection of pastries, breads and sandwiches. Today I had the scone with chocolate and an Americano coffee. Came with a small biscotti. Both were very good. Lots of take out business and many locals seem to sit in and enjoy the cozy atmosphere. Several people doing business on their computers. Bathroom is spacious and clean.
Definitely will go again.“

Stumbled upon Buttercup Bake Shop and they were so awesome! Totally worked with me and delivered the cupcakes with NO hassle. “Great caterer !!!! Deserves 10 stars! Fabulous four foot Charcuterie Board that served over 30 people. Salmon -Chicken- Shrimp and Cold Cuts with vegetables, cheeses, fruits and cheeses. Professional servers are top rated. Great to work with from the start of planning to day of. They did a Summer non alcoholic drink bar and an iced tea and iced coffee bar. Tasty ice cream chipwiches to top off a great party catered by La Promenade. Would recommend for your next party! “Everyone hates the big company and pushes for the underdog and that's cool but when it comes to groceries and you have dietary restrictions I feel Whole Foods is a real good option. The aura with the expensive soap ? section always uplifts my mood and attitude. The Good Soaps and their brand of soap is like 3 to 4 dollars a bar which I think is fair. Fair prices in my opinion for what you get. They get the majority of my grocery money ?. Bathrooms are not hidden in a sketchy storage area either.“
