“I am not really big on writing reviews (since the reader can never be sure if they are “real”), but I have to make an exception with the Blackbird Pub and restaurant, in Cliffside Park New Jersey.
The moment you walk in the door, you are greeted and made to feel welcome, as if you are an old friend, not a “walk-in”. That high level of attention continues throughout the visit. You literally never have to ask for a beverage re-fill, the staff cheerfully graciously stays one step ahead of you all the time.
Regarding the food, The Blackbird offers a nice variety of appetizers, sandwiches, and the like. While I have not tried everything on the menu, I can definitely say that the various hamburger options are all superb, as are the wings, with five varieties of sauces, (hot honey, garlic, barbecue, buffalo, garlic, parmesan, and sweet chili Thai).
Prices are reasonable; the crowd is always genial and mellow, and the owner and staff are warm, friendly, and frankly an interesting group of characters with entertaining stories to tell.
I highly recommend that you give The Blackbird Pub and Restaurant a try. You will be glad that you did.“

“Me having been in the this neighborhood five year, I would walk past this local bar regularly but recently I had noticed some construction inside followed by a name change. It got my attent but wasn't until a few months that I didn't actually go in and Covid did play a factor but man am I glad I did!!! Amy"s warm, genuine and warm greeting was a pleasant surprise. Then immediately you notice the open air lofty feel but with ever thing you expect in a classics traditional American bar. The perfectly sized newly constructed bar as you walk in on the right. Two midsize new pool table, the wall mounted monitor that can be seen from all angles, a perfect located dart board. But wait there is more. Amy who talked to us briefly about the new owners vision gave us the 5 cent tour ending it with the back yard. An oasis of a outdoor gathering area with tables, chairs and heater for those cool spring and summer nights entirely cover but a gazebo. Folks, Brass Rail 2 means business, they are built for you to come enjoy a beer watch baseball game on any of the monitors, play a game of pool, shoot some darts or just come and socialize with your friends or neighbors. Congratulations on building a nice local American Bar look I'm forward to spending time there unwinding after a good days work.“

“Always promised myself on my next trip to NYC I would go to The Dead Rabbit. I am so pleased I got to do it. The staff the cocktails the food and the decor & cleanliness were A1. Loved the welcome my friend and I got, (even when we were a bit late for our booking) throughout the service from the fabulous servers. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Bloody brilliant 👏“

“Staff was friendly and very involved on the time we spent. Our instructor was very helpful and made it easy for us to understand how we kept score. We opened a tab and it was a pleasant atmosphere. Music wasn't to loud that you couldn't talk. Every lane was safe as they had cages and made sure people threw in their own caged lane. Overall I'd rate this place 9 out of 10“

“Great Italian food and a decent menu, not much choice but not too much. It's located next to Post Office 34 and is very trendy. The view and service are great, but it's noisy as there isn't much to absorb the sound. We ordered focaccia, roasted peppers and pasta. Everything is great and super fresh.“

The location is also great, it was easy for everyone to get to and for everyone to go home from (so close to Grand Central and the 6 train!) One of the best pints of Guinness I've had outside of Ireland, such a cozy atmosphere and incredible staff members. Classic Irish pub food, which everybody loved! The classics are classics for a reason, and they were very well done. I’ve also had dinner here on a regular night, and it’s just as good! The drink menu is impressive — creative cocktails alongside all the classics done right. Every drink we ordered was perfectly balanced, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. But what really made the night stand out was the service, especially from Lucas, who was behind the bar.

Lucas was absolutely fantastic. He has that rare mix of professionalism and personality that makes you want to stay a little longer. He took the time to ask what kind of flavors we liked and then recommended a few cocktails off-menu that turned out to be spot on. He worked quickly even though the bar was packed, never losing his cool, and somehow managed to make everyone at the bar feel like they were his favorite customer. You can tell he really knows his craft — and actually enjoys it.

It’s that kind of attentive, genuine service that turns a good night into a memorable one. Thanks to Lucas and the whole Ten Degrees team, we’ll definitely be coming back.

“I was very impressed, moonlighting in the bartender night life for the last 20 years. I normally don’t go out to bars. My sister and myself were down at Lenox hospital for our Dads surgery. One of the desk staff at Franklin Hotel recommended Penrose! The staff, manager and bartender were so friendly. I have to say I was very happy. I will certainly pop over again next time I’m in the area!!!! The drinks and food were top notch… So cheers Penrose to your amazing hospitality ❤️“

“Omg. BEST place ever for a casual, fun birthday dinner!!!!! I last minute made reservations for 4 friends and I to have my birthday dinner/drinks here and I’m SOOOO happy I did!!!! Genuinely the best time ever!!!! My roommate and I already made plans to come back during the week for their happy hour deal! Everyone who worked here was SO nice and helpful! I asked if it was okay to bring a cake that my friend had baked for me into the restaurant and not only did they say yes but they ALSO provided everything we needed to cut and serve the cake and they put the candles in for me and lit them. We all got the happiest hamburger which was DELISH and the fries are really skinny which is yum and the Hugo spritz was great too!!!! The music is also so good!!! Amazing vibes, amazing food, amazing music!!! Also shoutout to the hostess Olivia who was the SWEETEST!!!!!!! She obviously wished me happy birthday but then later came over with a handwritten card for me as well as adorable matchboxes and pens for me and all of my friends!!! She was incredible!!! You have to get mezze and extra bread (must try the kubane). We also ended up getting three orders of the shishbarak for the six of us, it is way too good! I got the salmon for my entree which was cooked to perfection and beautifully seasoned. Spencer our server recommended the silan and the cheesecake for dessert so we shared those and boy were they something special- I can’t pick a favorite! He brought us a candle and we got some great pictures. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough.“
