“The place is excellent but the only thing that throws me off is the creepy , short guy with curly hair due who works there. He likes to make visually impaired people uncomfortable by staring at them and deliberately bothering customers while they are using the bathroom. The dude is straight up prejudice.“

“The immense amount of love I have for Gleaner's is endless. I come from another part of Philly to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere, the amazing staff, and the delicious drinks. Honestly, one of the best places in Philadelphia to simply relax and enjoy a warm cup of tea (or coffee). Absolutely worth the walk, drive, or adventure to :)“
“Walking into REN’s feels like stepping into a cozy refuge from the chaos of the outside world. This place is not just a coffee shop, not just a bookstore—it’s a community hub, a creative sanctuary, and a labor of love brought to life by one of the most inspiring owners you’ll ever meet. The owner, is the heart and soul of the place. Their passion for people, literature, and coffee shines through in everything—from the hand-picked book selection to the thoughtfully crafted drinks and baked goods. They know their regulars by name, support local artists and authors, and host events that bring people together in meaningful ways. Whether it's book clubs, charity drives, or just offering a warm smile to someone who needs it, they go above and beyond. The coffee? Phenomenal. Smooth, bold, and consistently delicious. And the pastries and snacks are always fresh, with plenty of local and seasonal ingredients. As for the books—expect a mix of beloved classics, hidden indie gems, and everything in between. It’s the kind of place where you go in for one thing and leave with five (and no regrets). Whether you're there to read, work, meet friends, or just breathe for a minute, this space welcomes you like home. Ren’s coffeehouse/book store doesn’t just mean enjoying amazing coffee and books—it means supporting someone who genuinely uplifts the community. Places like this don’t come around often. Cherish it.“

“We were warmly welcomed on a snowy winter day and enjoyed our lunch. Their cappucino and lattes were delicious as well as their unique 3-berry muffin. The house specialty sandwich was tasty, but had more cheese filling than I like. Their turkey sandwich was delicious. The restaurant decor is contenporary cozy and there are lots of breakfast, brunch and lunch choices with vegetarian and vegan options. It was nice to see families and diners of all ages hanging out and enjoying the food and vibe there.“

“The cafe looks so cozy and coffee tastes great and real here! During our visit to US from Europe, we were looking a real tasty coffee and this place became a remedy!
We had a chance to meet the owners, young couple, and they were incredibly kind and hospitable. Definetely recommend!“

“I happened upon this gem when I wanted some coffee before an event I was attending nearby. They only serve coffee beverages; no food items are on the menu. The coffee was excellent and they offer a wide range of choices and flavors. The service was warm and friendly. Do yourself a favor and check out Coffee Maldem!“

“Yet another hidden gem in Philly. I came in for the first time today by chance and immediately felt so so so welcomed into the space. It is much smaller of a space than Madis Coffee Roasters (Twisted Grounds has only a few small tables to sit), but the staff is equally as kind, friendly, talkative, and enjoyable to be around. You can quickly tell that the team here has a great rapport with each other, and it makes the atmosphere comfortable and fun to be in. They have super cute merch and engaging conversations. I'm excited for this to be one of my regular haunts in Philly. The manager runs this place like a well-oiled machine.“

“I really love the relaxed atmosphere here and the incredible variety. My daughter cannot get enough of the cannolis. I asked her which one of the three highlighted she wanted when I brought her in there yesterday and she said yes please. Lol the staff are so very kind and gracious and attentive, and it is a really really nice place to have in the area and I’m so happy I found it.“

“Love this little artisan coffee spot!! You can always tell a good coffee spot when they make you a proper macchiato. ☕️
It’s a small space with minimal seating so keep that in mind if you intend to hang out. Great location if you’re visiting Center City. Very walkable. There’s some street parking around.
The service is great. I really enjoyed chatting with the barista learning about the business and ways they intend to continue growing as a brand. I appreciate that they locally roast their beans and that they experiment with new flavors to create drink specials they offer.
I love a barista and business that appreciates the many flavor profiles a well formed palate can enjoy. Flavors keep life interesting and fun! It’s also nice to hit up a spot that makes things from scratch avoiding the usual toxic chemicals used at chain coffee shops.“

“I’ve walked by this spot so many times, and it seemed every time I was hungry they were closed (closed on weekends) but today I finally stepped in. I ordered 2 bánh mìs and a Vietnamese coffee. Pete, the owner/operator of the spot was the only one there and we instantly jumped into great conversation about the music scene in Philly back in the late 90s. We ended up knowing a lot of the same people. Philly is a tight knit group. So even before eating the food I was already a fan of this spot. Pete served me his special take on Vietnamese coffee while we talked and he made the sandwiches. The iced coffee was excellent, but different and less sweet than Vietnamese coffee I’ve had in the past. He also used ice cubes made of coffee which was an added bonus for a coffee junkie like myself. After we talked for nearly 20 min, I walked home with my sandwich and WOW! Such a solid bánh mì! I told him to make it like he would make it for himself (spicy) and he knocked it out of the park. I’ll be back and I’ll be bringing all my music friends here when they are in the neighborhood. I highly encourage Olde City residents as well as Philly locals to give this place a try!“

“Great experience. Modern design, well lit, ample parking, great food and coffee, very reasonable prices. Service by Besi (I think that’s how you spell his name) was phenomenal. Just very personable staff members who take the time to get to know their customers, but also leave them to do their work. They serve premium coffee from Italy with a delicious taste and great potency. I will absolutely be returning to this spot.“

“Loved this little spot!! The decor couldn’t have been sweeter, and the food and drinks were equally wonderful. They had so many different latte flavors (my favorite was the coconut mocha) that were the perfect amount of sweetness. The food was also unique and delicious - we tried the burrata panini, which was scrumptious! Would definitely come back here to try more :)“

“As an epidemiologist and professor, I rely on data and patterns rather than outliers. I am writing specifically to address a recent, baseless accusation regarding the owner’s integrity. I have been a regular at Almaz Cafe for years, and the claim that the owner 'lied' or 'scams' customers is entirely inconsistent with the transparent, honest service he has provided this community for two decades.
Attacking the character of a hardworking, small-business owner over a misunderstanding of traditional dining costs is unjustifiable. The 4.6★ rating on Google Maps and high praise on Yelp exist precisely because this owner operates with the highest integrity. The food is genuine, the pricing is standard for Philadelphia, and the owner’s reputation remains beyond reproach.“

“I lived in Seattle for almost two decades and will admit to being a bit of a coffee shop snob. The Nook hits so many of my high points. Extremely good locally roasted coffee (in-house!). Amazing baked goods. The cocoa coffee bread must be tried, but leave me a slice! Great staff. If I ever move out of the neighborhood, I'll journey to the Nook for a great cup and bite.“

“Another beautiful event at Gran Café L’Aquila for our annual department dinner. For the second year in a row, their team made the planning process incredibly easy, assisting with the delicious menu, wine selections, setup, and flawless service. Everything was handled with care and professionalism. There’s nothing better than hosting an event and being able to truly enjoy it alongside everyone else.“

“This is hands down the best coffee shop in NoLibs. We discovered it over a year ago and have been going at least once a week ever since. I rarely get matcha out because so few places actually use good quality matcha and make it properly, but CNT does all of the above. They have monthly rotating flavor specials for coffee and matcha that are always incredible and made from scratch. The shop is also super dog friendly and our pup literally drags us down the street to go there anytime we are nearby.“
“I went to this coffee shop because of the sweet smell of fresh brew coffee, but when I entered the energy of the amazing young lady behind the counter, slapped me in the face, and I was so overwhelmed with joy, and that warm filling that was given as the New Customer to a place unknown, she was able to offer me an amazing chocolate strawberry latte as well as the pastries are on point. Everything of the atmosphere was amazing. I would recommend this place time and time again.“
“Workers are very friendly, pretty affordable, they had a combo for drip coffee and bagel for 6$. I got a vanilla latte 5$ and bottle apple juice for 4$, it was so good, I added some cinnamon and syrup to latte by the self help table they have. Music choice is 2000s throw backs, I would come again!“

“Had the Spring Fling coffee today, IT WAS INCREDIBLE! Never have I had coffee like this. It was robust but mild, with hints of lavender, thyme and pink peppercorns. Absolutely a must have for those that go regularly. I live in NJ so sadly I won’t be here often and I’m sad about that.“

“Tiny cafe with two very hard working staff. It was a bit of a wait for my coffee and avocado toast but well worth it. The avocado toast was truly beautiful with the caprese garnishes but would have crossed the line into exceptional with some finishing salt. Dining in is limited to a narrow bar and two small outdoor tables but it is a short walk to Rittenhouse square.“

“Rude and ignorant staff to a Veteran on Memorial Day. Not sure if it was one of the owners. People working the counter have no hospitality experience what so ever and are clueless. They get offended quickly when you ask a question about their watered down product. And I quote the red head bearded guy behind the counter wanting to know what was poured into the coffee "I didnt poison you if that what your asking" when I questioned the container of liquid being poured into my coffee of what it was located in the mini fridge with a red top after I ordered a decaf cold brew and I saw him pour maybe 2oz. of I assume decaf coffee into the cup, the rest 3/4 of ice and cream. big rip off for $3.50. would. it recommended or ever go back. Took 2 sips and through it out. Learn how to treat your customers and don't employ your buddies friends or family members or local kids who have no hospitality experience because they have no clue what it means to actually work or serve the public.“
