“My husband and I went there this morning for coffee and ended up getting so much information about Philadelphia and places we could go. The coffee was delicious. The company was terrific. Such a warm and inviting place. We will definitely be back again. Thank you so much to the two ladies that helped us we ended up spending the whole day there and I canceled my dentist appointment! Thank you!“

“Batter and Crumbs is a bright, cheerful place with plenty of delicious comfort food to choose from. You’re greeted with a warm and welcoming vibe from the owner and staff. I had the Spinach Jawn (Erbazzone), the Ciabatta-Bing Chick'n Parm and a Hot Pumpkin Spice Latte. It was all delicious! Updated from previous review on 2026-09-27“

“It's not the absolute best coffee I've ever had, but the pour-over was certainly well-made and interesting. My friend's espresso drink was also good, strong and smooth. We appreciated the quiet atmosphere for conversation after work.“

“Walking into REN’s feels like stepping into a cozy refuge from the chaos of the outside world. This place is not just a coffee shop, not just a bookstore—it’s a community hub, a creative sanctuary, and a labor of love brought to life by one of the most inspiring owners you’ll ever meet. The owner, is the heart and soul of the place. Their passion for people, literature, and coffee shines through in everything—from the hand-picked book selection to the thoughtfully crafted drinks and baked goods. They know their regulars by name, support local artists and authors, and host events that bring people together in meaningful ways. Whether it's book clubs, charity drives, or just offering a warm smile to someone who needs it, they go above and beyond. The coffee? Phenomenal. Smooth, bold, and consistently delicious. And the pastries and snacks are always fresh, with plenty of local and seasonal ingredients. As for the books—expect a mix of beloved classics, hidden indie gems, and everything in between. It’s the kind of place where you go in for one thing and leave with five (and no regrets). Whether you're there to read, work, meet friends, or just breathe for a minute, this space welcomes you like home. Ren’s coffeehouse/book store doesn’t just mean enjoying amazing coffee and books—it means supporting someone who genuinely uplifts the community. Places like this don’t come around often. Cherish it.“

“Too difficult to buy a cup of coffee here, the coffee ordering set up should be in the front, not the back and why is it so dark in the back? I want to like this place but it has no vibe…just the sight of staffers running around. The Hostess always looks bored and the back is like a madhouse. It’s one of the only places to get a cup of coffee ☕ near to Rittenhouse Park but where it’s well lit, it’s a quiet upscale grocery shop but the back feels like you’ve entered a subway station at rush hour!
Not sure what the remedy is but I’d suggest that you open up the front space, remove the annoying velvet rope and stop putting “reserved” signs on all of the tables (just sit people there who want to enjoy a cup of coffee for 15 minutes). This is a beautiful spot, but boy does it stress me out once you walk in the back.
Put on Italian music and hire some drop dead gorgeous guy or gal who knows how to convey ITALIAN WARMTH to customers!!! Every time I walk in the hostess is shy. She should be greeting guests and be IN FRONT, not planted at the podium.
Your restaurant is gorgeous ✨ , but it never feels welcoming 🤷🏽♀ it’s bright and pretty but it’s hectic feeling in the back - sorry, someone had to tell you..“

“We came here during the height of FIFA. Even so, it wasn't that crowded inside. We got the pumpkin & banana bread and the drip coffee. I believe it was the owner that was taking our order; she was very nice! The pumpkin bread was very delicious! There was also a good amount of seating inside, although it looks small from outside. The interior and overall atmosphere of the cafe was very welcoming and relaxing.“

“This coffee shop is phenomenal & coffee is solid! Every staff member showed great, Greek-style hospitality and was very courteous during my first visit. They took the time to explain the menu. The pastries are good, the space is very clean, and there is comfortable seating with a great window view for laptop work.
Staff: Extremely courteous and helpful to first-time visitors.
Service: Warm and welcoming environment where staff know regular customers by name.
Atmosphere: Very clean with a reasonable amount of comfortable seating, including window seats for working on a laptop.
Food: Good pastries available to pair with your drink.“

“Yet another hidden gem in Philly. I came in for the first time today by chance and immediately felt so so so welcomed into the space. It is much smaller of a space than Madis Coffee Roasters (Twisted Grounds has only a few small tables to sit), but the staff is equally as kind, friendly, talkative, and enjoyable to be around. You can quickly tell that the team here has a great rapport with each other, and it makes the atmosphere comfortable and fun to be in. They have super cute merch and engaging conversations. I'm excited for this to be one of my regular haunts in Philly. The manager runs this place like a well-oiled machine.“

“I love the atmosphere here - cozy friendly mom and pop shop dishing out a simple menu. Everything's great. Very fun place to bring a friend or two or three and share.
The prices reflect the neighborhood (it's a little more expensive than say, West Philly), but I still come here for the atmosphere and warm service over others in town.
If you're coming alone, the entrees are enough for two meals!
Pictured: chicken stew / doro wat (comes with a side of lentils and tikel gomen and extra injera), and decaf espresso con panna to end the meal“

“I took my mom out to brunch and just randomly decided to walk across the street and see some vendor shops set up outside. I was informed that this is the best coffee around by the owner (who also passionately raved about his wife who runs the business). I wasn't skeptical but told him, EVERYBODY says that but I was happy to indulge. I ended up grabbing a coffee and well, it did not disappoint. The taste was amazing, the experience was personable, and the impact will ensure anytime I travel to Philly I will come back to grab my coffee here. I highly recommend, my mom even purchased a bag of coffee beans without having a grinder, so def. Worth it.“

“I’ve walked by this spot so many times, and it seemed every time I was hungry they were closed (closed on weekends) but today I finally stepped in. I ordered 2 bánh mìs and a Vietnamese coffee. Pete, the owner/operator of the spot was the only one there and we instantly jumped into great conversation about the music scene in Philly back in the late 90s. We ended up knowing a lot of the same people. Philly is a tight knit group. So even before eating the food I was already a fan of this spot. Pete served me his special take on Vietnamese coffee while we talked and he made the sandwiches. The iced coffee was excellent, but different and less sweet than Vietnamese coffee I’ve had in the past. He also used ice cubes made of coffee which was an added bonus for a coffee junkie like myself. After we talked for nearly 20 min, I walked home with my sandwich and WOW! Such a solid bánh mì! I told him to make it like he would make it for himself (spicy) and he knocked it out of the park. I’ll be back and I’ll be bringing all my music friends here when they are in the neighborhood. I highly encourage Olde City residents as well as Philly locals to give this place a try!“

“I really love the relaxed atmosphere here and the incredible variety. My daughter cannot get enough of the cannolis. I asked her which one of the three highlighted she wanted when I brought her in there yesterday and she said yes please. “The Winkel is a charming neighborhood breakfast spot. Great service, nice atmosphere and the food is delish! The UITSMIJTER with Avacado mash, smoked salmon, sunny side up eggs with pickled red onion and fresh dill on pumpernickel was AMAZING! I cut into my UITSMIJTER, took one bite and knew I had to leave a review. The presentation was lovely… you’ll have to take my word for it.“

“A cute coffee shop with great drinks! For those familiar with the scene in Houston, their pandan foam coffee is similar to Le'DRIP, but with richer coffee notes and their lychee matcha is similar to that of Kohiko's (though nothing will beat Kohiko in my heart!). It was really nice to get good Viet coffee !! (We've been struggling to find a good spot 😭)“
