“A great neighborhood find if you're looking for an exceptional cup of coffee. The bean selection rotates regularly and the brewing is incredibly precise. The staff is welcoming, attentive, and genuinely cares about the quality of what they serve. It's a relaxed, intentional space that avoids the usual cafe rush.“

“Walking into REN’s feels like stepping into a cozy refuge from the chaos of the outside world. This place is not just a coffee shop, not just a bookstore—it’s a community hub, a creative sanctuary, and a labor of love brought to life by one of the most inspiring owners you’ll ever meet. The owner, is the heart and soul of the place. Their passion for people, literature, and coffee shines through in everything—from the hand-picked book selection to the thoughtfully crafted drinks and baked goods. They know their regulars by name, support local artists and authors, and host events that bring people together in meaningful ways. Whether it's book clubs, charity drives, or just offering a warm smile to someone who needs it, they go above and beyond. The coffee? Phenomenal. Smooth, bold, and consistently delicious. And the pastries and snacks are always fresh, with plenty of local and seasonal ingredients. As for the books—expect a mix of beloved classics, hidden indie gems, and everything in between. It’s the kind of place where you go in for one thing and leave with five (and no regrets). Whether you're there to read, work, meet friends, or just breathe for a minute, this space welcomes you like home. Ren’s coffeehouse/book store doesn’t just mean enjoying amazing coffee and books—it means supporting someone who genuinely uplifts the community. Places like this don’t come around often. Cherish it.“

“I’m convinced that the bulk of the negative reviews here are written by individuals who have NEVER set foot in Gleaners. The best attribute of this store is the friendly staff. Everyone who works here absorbs so much chit chat from the customers that I would think the baristas are professionally trained to listen reflectively. No coffee shop cares more for their customers and allows them to express themselves as much as Gleaners. In fact, one can’t tip these baristas enough for the company they provide the sorry folks who talk and bore their ears off. Do you know how much extra work that is!“

“It’s rare to come across a coffee shop like this. The coffee was exceptional, the menu was creative and thoughtfully curated, and every item felt intentional. What really made the experience stand out, though, was the owner! Amro was so welcoming, kind, and genuinely passionate about creating a great experience for every customer. You can tell there’s a lot of heart behind this place. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend stopping in if you’re in the area. Spanish Latte and Perfect Date were 10/10“

“We were in PA for a graduation and before leaving, we were fortunate to eat at Café Tolia for Mother's Day Breakfast. I had the Egg and Cheese Breakfast Sandwich with Smoked Salmon and OMG the Brioche Bun, everything, was DELICIOUS!
The staff was so friendly and patient with our party of 7 and our orders :) and pulling together the tables to seat us.
LOVED the decor!
It was a perfect way to spend our Mother's Day morning. Thank You.“

“Both the coffee & the matcha were a must-try for me & now they’re a must have. I got my usual matcha order, with oatmilk and vanilla, and it was the best I’ve ever had. The banana bread latte was so good, too! Just the cutest place, you have to go!“

“Yet another hidden gem in Philly. I came in for the first time today by chance and immediately felt so so so welcomed into the space. It is much smaller of a space than Madis Coffee Roasters (Twisted Grounds has only a few small tables to sit), but the staff is equally as kind, friendly, talkative, and enjoyable to be around. You can quickly tell that the team here has a great rapport with each other, and it makes the atmosphere comfortable and fun to be in. They have super cute merch and engaging conversations. I'm excited for this to be one of my regular haunts in Philly. The manager runs this place like a well-oiled machine.“

“I’ve walked by this spot so many times, and it seemed every time I was hungry they were closed (closed on weekends) but today I finally stepped in. I ordered 2 bánh mìs and a Vietnamese coffee. Pete, the owner/operator of the spot was the only one there and we instantly jumped into great conversation about the music scene in Philly back in the late 90s. We ended up knowing a lot of the same people. Philly is a tight knit group. So even before eating the food I was already a fan of this spot. Pete served me his special take on Vietnamese coffee while we talked and he made the sandwiches. The iced coffee was excellent, but different and less sweet than Vietnamese coffee I’ve had in the past. He also used ice cubes made of coffee which was an added bonus for a coffee junkie like myself. After we talked for nearly 20 min, I walked home with my sandwich and WOW! Such a solid bánh mì! I told him to make it like he would make it for himself (spicy) and he knocked it out of the park. I’ll be back and I’ll be bringing all my music friends here when they are in the neighborhood. I highly encourage Olde City residents as well as Philly locals to give this place a try!“

“The best cafe I’ve tried in Philly! From the atmosphere to the people and the food, everything was exceptional. We had such a wonderful experience. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was attentive, and the atmosphere made the whole visit even more enjoyable. You can tell they put so much care into every detail, and the whole place gives off such warm, family-like vibes. Allison and Pedro were incredibly kind and welcoming from the moment we walked in until the moment we left. We can’t wait to come back“

“Small but lovely place. If you're looking for authentic Italian espresso or macchiato this is the place. Small but very good selection of pastries. You can bring your laptop, but the tables are a bit small. Outside seating though is available and nice as well. Note: it got quite busy after my order :)“

“I really love the relaxed atmosphere here and the incredible variety. My daughter cannot get enough of the cannolis. I asked her which one of the three highlighted she wanted when I brought her in there yesterday and she said yes please. Lol the staff are so very kind and gracious and attentive, and it is a really really nice place to have in the area and I’m so happy I found it.“

“IL Sorriso Cafe has become my go to spot for studying or getting work done on my laptop. It has a nice atmosphere - very bright and spacious, and there is great service from Besi. It’s really nice that he takes the time to have conversations with his customers, my brother has been a regular here for years and would agree. I always enjoy the food and matcha lattes. I definitely recommend this spot!“

“This place is fantastic, I’ve loved all the pastries and rolls I’ve tried. I’m especially addicted to the ube roll! The hot and iced coffee are always good. This is a great quick and affordable alternative to other nearby options like Mighty Bread, Rival Bros, etc. I only wish there was more seating!“

“Loved this little spot!! The decor couldn’t have been sweeter, and the food and drinks were equally wonderful. They had so many different latte flavors (my favorite was the coconut mocha) that were the perfect amount of sweetness. The food was also unique and delicious - we tried the burrata panini, which was scrumptious! Would definitely come back here to try more :)“

“Unlike other coffee shops I previously been to in Philadelphia; batter & crumbs I have no complaints esp when it comes to customer service!! I felt welcomed and their coffee also was refreshing; I’m glad their vegan and their coffee is made with oat milk; it was new to me but I loved it !“

“Absolutely my new favorite place to eat a savory lunch and dinner, enjoy marvelously smooth coffee, a delicious smoothie and the service is as friendly as it gets. The atmosphere is delightful and intimate, while sipping on their famous coffee while looking out the window… I’ve made it almost an addiction to visit Almaz daily, just for the warm smiles from the owners and staff. One taste of their beef stew, chicken curry… My only regret is that I’ve been walking past this gem for about a year completely clueless what was inside. Don’t make the same mistake I did. Just look at these healthy portions and the taste is better than you can imagine.“

“We got an Americano and a Cafe Au Lait, and both were excellent. Short line, excellent service. No seating (it’s a food truck setup, for those who don’t know), but it’s close to many museum area park benches. NOTE: If you don’t get there early, the pastries will be sold out. At 10:30am, we were too late.“

“This is a pretty cute cafe. The coffee was really good, it's a little sweeter than would like, but it wasn't too sweet. I went in a little before they opened but were still nice about it and served me anyway. Highly recommend the coffee here.“

“Gran Caffe L’Aquila has a beautiful atmosphere and some genuinely excellent products. The latte was expertly made with gorgeous latte art, and both the coffee and gelato were absolutely delicious. You can tell they take pride in the quality of what they serve.
Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the food and drinks. Most of the staff came across as dismissive and unfriendly, which took away from what could have been a wonderful experience.
The only one exception to this was Luca, who was welcoming, professional, genuinely kind, and knowledgeable. He made us feel appreciated as guests and stood out in the best way possible.
At the end of the day, hospitality is about making people feel welcome.
The rest of the team could certainly take note. If the level of service matched the quality of the coffee and gelato, this would easily be a five-star experience.“
“Workers are very friendly, pretty affordable, they had a combo for drip coffee and bagel for 6$. I got a vanilla latte 5$ and bottle apple juice for 4$, it was so good, I added some cinnamon and syrup to latte by the self help table they have. Music choice is 2000s throw backs, I would come again!“

“Flores is so amazing and my new neighborhood spot. I love the coffee shops in the Fairmount/Francisville area, but this one is special. It’s so cozy and Mrs. Betty is SO lovely. I also appreciate bringing a Latina flair to the neighborhood. One of my favorite coffee shops is in Miami and this place reminds me of there. Run and go try it- you won’t be disappointed!! (My partner and I love the tres leches and coquito coffee drinks. Also, the homemade carrot cake, cornbread, and apple turnovers are to die for)!“

“Had the Spring Fling coffee today, IT WAS INCREDIBLE! Never have I had coffee like this. It was robust but mild, with hints of lavender, thyme and pink peppercorns. Absolutely a must have for those that go regularly. I live in NJ so sadly I won’t be here often and I’m sad about that.“

“This is a tiny space. The customer side of the counter is about 6x12 with part of that being the counter and chairs along one wall. It was tight with eight people ordering or waiting. Quick service though, and a cool little place. About half a block from our hotel, The Cambria.“

“Rude and ignorant staff to a Veteran on Memorial Day. Not sure if it was one of the owners. People working the counter have no hospitality experience what so ever and are clueless. They get offended quickly when you ask a question about their watered down product. And I quote the red head bearded guy behind the counter wanting to know what was poured into the coffee "I didnt poison you if that what your asking" when I questioned the container of liquid being poured into my coffee of what it was located in the mini fridge with a red top after I ordered a decaf cold brew and I saw him pour maybe 2oz. of I assume decaf coffee into the cup, the rest 3/4 of ice and cream. big rip off for $3.50. would. it recommended or ever go back. Took 2 sips and through it out. Learn how to treat your customers and don't employ your buddies friends or family members or local kids who have no hospitality experience because they have no clue what it means to actually work or serve the public.“
