“When my brothers were kids, they would stop to eat at Hiram"s on their way back from Palisade's Amusement Park. My mom would always ask why. My brothers replied, "the food is better at Hiram's! When I worked for Thomas J. Lipton in Englewood Cliffs, my co-workers and I went to Hiram's for lunch often. I plan on going very soon! I so love Hiram's for the food and it's longevity.“

“Eggty 8 Cafe in Fort Lee, NJ has become one of my favorite spots for breakfast and brunch in the neighborhood. I love the Chicken Waffles Eggs Benedict on the menu. Crispy chicken sits atop poached eggs with hollandaise sauce, making a perfect meal, and the home fries are tasty and well-seasoned. Another favorite is the Peanut Corn Pancakes, which are fluffy and not too sweet. Corn and crushed peanuts top them to add a nice crunch. Servers act quickly and cheerfully; the atmosphere is warm and relaxed here, and it is excellent for a solitary breakfast or brunch with friends on the weekend. The cost reflects the quality and style of the food I've eaten. Eggty 8 Café remains my go-to spot for delicious, unpretentious mornings, and I look forward to many return visits.“

“Fudgarten is a fabulous restaurant. Ate there yesterday for the first time and loved their salad. I only buy organic and know how expensive organic products are. Fudgarten is organic so I couldn't believe how inexpensive they are being an organic restaurant.“

By any regular metric, this is a 5/5. Unfortunately, this is New York. More unfortunately, they have a Michelin star. Thus, they must be judged within the strata in which they belong.

The ingredients were FRESH. This is their calling card. The carrots, the squash, the beets, the buckwheat. Kudos to their souring.

The meal is an imbalanced (to me and my table). We were craving protein, and this place highlights the produce. I will say the tastiest dish was a non meat course (mushrooms in a dashi broth)

“The experience was spectacular start to finish. Greeted nicely and service throughout was really excellent; paced well, not rushed or intrusive at all. really lovely. Hannah was great! We ordered from the restaurant week menu and a couple of other wise dishes (kimchi, bread and nori butter, patatas bravas). Of these the bread and butter was the least interesting, kimchi and patatas bravas were excellent. Starters -- frogs legs and hamachi, both amazing, cooked perfectly. Small plates -- soba a(with uni supplement) and celery salad, both excellent, soba was our favorite of the two. Salad was very fresh and nice. Entress, hangar steak and chicken sandwich. Steak in particualr outstanding -- cooked perfectly great sauce. Chicken sandwich is big and delicious Dessert -funfetti cake and panna cotta, both excellent. Drinks -- love the selections here boith zero proof and the wine/beer/cocktail options. Passion fruit marg and balsamic negroni excellent; sparkling hibiscus was really good and not to sweet. And the Cava by the glas very nice. The collab with brooklyn cider was a nice Basque style cider that paired nicely with the food. Overall, excellent and will be back!“

If we had not made a plan to go to La Cabral for dessert and more coffee, I am sure dessert would have been equally excellent.Service was excellent and our waitress was knowledgeable and interested in the food.The fluke reminded me of the first time I went to USC in 1988. I had a plate with raw marinated tuna, raw salmon and raw scallops. The little heaps of fish were so pretty on the plate with their contrasting colors.“

They quickly welcomed us in with open arms and fresh hot coffee. It was one of the best brunches I've ever had, but what made it even more special was Joey the owner overheard our story, knowing we had a rough morning, and gifting us one of his comfort food cookbooks! I think we got close to one of everything on the drink, appetizer and entree menus. My favorites were the rosemary margarita, shoestring fries, spicy sausage pizza, butternut squash ravioli, and the hangar steak. There was some kind of mint salad that was super good. I haven't ever tasted a salad like that before, so it was a cool experience. We did everything family style with a few people ordering pork chops or a cheeseburger for themselves. The total with all 8 of us getting multiple drinks and tons of apps + entrees shared between us plus tax and tip was $810, which is more than fair for how much we ate + drank and how good the food and service was. Will definitely come back or recommend to anyone looking for a location to host a work/birthday/celebratory dinner or date.“

We've been staying in the Franklin Guesthouse (hotel adjacent to Madre) for a couple of nights and decided to give Madre a shot - boy were we in for a treat! Firstly, shout out to Armando, who made us feel immediately welcomed with his warmth and energy! For food, we got the Frutti di Mare, Croquetas, Brussels Sprouts, Cornbread Madeleines (compliments from chef) and Chicken - massive MASSIVE props to Chef Bryan and his very talented team. To say that they cooked "well" would be the understatement of 2022. They absolutely blew our minds with top quality medley of ingredients, depth of flavor, and masterful execution in every way. Cocktails were fun and delectable, which added the perfect "pop" to the culinary rocket ship that Madre served up. Just when my wife and I were ready to call it a night, Chef Bryan and Armando were kind enough to bring out the Pot de Creme for us, which was the bow and ribbon on this very special dinner. My only regret of the night was not having enough stomachs to enjoy more of what Madre could serve up. We will definitely be back! Thank you, Madre!“

I moved here from Texas a year ago and love everything about the city (except for the rent), but I do miss Tex Mex and good tortillas. New Mexican is its own cuisine and sure hits the spot while also being healthier, and those tortillas are a game changer.
