“I booked Ryfe for a 40th surprise party for my husband. Emma (the event planner) and John (the owner) made the process so easy and stress free. I knew right away we were in good hands. We celebrated on the outside patio and part of the dining room was closed off for our buffet dinner. The food was very good! Every single guest commented on the food and at the great location and ambience of the restaurant. The restaurant has a great vibe and is impeccably clean. It reminds us of a posh bar and restaurant in Philly but with reasonable prices. The food was top notch. The lemon pepper chicken was a favorite of everyone! At the end of the night when I was packing up each staff member offered to help. The bartender for our party and the bartender working the main bar were so nice and accommodating. The event was perfect! I couldn’t have asked for a better surprise party for my husband. I highly recommend Ryfe Bar and Restaurant!“

“My husband and I were looking for something to get into on a Saturday night so we learned of Essie's by calling another entertainment restaurant in town that was closed for the night. We got to Essie's and was amazed at how upscale, clean, and close to home it was for us. The food was delicious as can be and the music was wonderful. Since we just walked in we were seated in the bar area at a table by the window. The whole vibe was on point for us. We were given a tour of the upstairs lounge which was empty that night bec no one had booked it for anything. Still it was beautiful as well as classy for giving a small to medium gathering of friends for a party or get together. The bathrooms were fashionably modern, beautiful, clean, and smelled great! We peeked into the stage area dining room to get a look since we weren't able to sit in there since all the tables were booked. It was very nice and classy. I can't wait to go back. Next time I'll be booking reservations for a dinner when they have live entertainment so we can sit in the stage area dining room and enjoy some live entertainment and another delicious meal. I'm so glad we found this spot. Now it will be our go to restaurant when we want to get out and hear some great soulful music. Way to go Essie!!! :)“

We went there for the first time tonight after shopping at Wegman's. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and waited less than 2 minutes for a table.

Once seated, our server, Kevin, came over almost immediately. He was friendly, genuine, and had a lovely personality, which made us feel comfortable enough to joke around with him. We ordered our drinks, and they arrived just as quickly. Throughout the evening, Kevin was attentive and professional. At one point, one of the managers, Allen, came by to check on us—a gesture I haven't experienced before and one that really sets the bar high for other establishments. Allen was charming and had a positive aura that made the atmosphere even nicer.

Now, let's talk about the food—it was fantastic! I ordered a Pumpkin Spice Martini, and my husband chose the Blood Orange Manhattan; both were divine. We started with the nachos topped with chicken, and they were incredibly tasty—perfectly stacked with no soggy chips and just the right portion size. We devoured them!

For my main course, I had an arugula salad with blackened chicken, which was not only delicious but also a perfect portion. They offer various styles of chicken—grilled, breaded, blackened, etc. My husband ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with a Caesar salad on the side. Again, it was delicious and appropriately sized; the side Caesar wasn't a small serving but a proper side dish. Our toddler wanted pasta with butter, and they kindly accommodated her request. We just needed to ask for more butter since it was a bit dry, but the pasta was cooked perfectly and not steaming hot, so she could eat it right away.

The prices were very reasonable, and the atmosphere was fun—not too dark, with plenty of televisions around. The restrooms were clean and well-maintained, which is always appreciated, and I loved that there was a full-length mirror. They even have a family restroom complete with a changing station. My husband didn't check the men's bathroom, so I can't speak to whether it has a changing station, but no biggie since they have the family washroom. I also like that we are able to see everything from wherever we were seated.

Overall, I give this place five stars without hesitation. Be sure to ask for Kevin as your server—he's fantastic—and don't forget to say hi to Allen!“

“We had a relaxing Friday night in the main dining room. The food was good, our server, Peggy, was attentive, and prices were reasonable. The only hitch was when we were first seated, there was a party behind us who were just loud people. Combined with the high industrial ceilings, they were too loud for us. The staff immediately moved us to another area that was much quieter.“
