“Just had my daughters engagement party here. The staff is amazing from booking everything with Joe to going over all the details with Maria- She has the patience of a saint! They really have a beautiful room and everything went flawlessly. The food was delicious. We had the fried Calamari, Brushetta, Fried Shrimp appetizers and then Veal Marsala, Chicken Franciase, Eggplant Rollatini, roast potatoes and vegetables. I was blown away by how good the food was- super tender and flavorful. The wait staff was amazing and so helpful- they work so hard and go the extra step to make sure everything went as planned. Thank you Donna for untangling my balloons! Tom is a great bartender- friendly and very funny! Everyone had a wonderful time and was super impressed with everything. If you are on the fence about booking a party here...DO IT! You will not be disappointed at all.“

My server even brought me the wrong food one time, and it was soooo good that I hadn't even noticed until halfway through my meal! The French onion soup was served hot and creamy, the churro waffle croissant was so light and well balanced. The pear mimosa was our favorite out of the mimosa flight. “We had wanted to try Saffron for a while and when we saw they were participating in restaurant week we went. It did not disappoint. Service was excellent and the food outstanding. We had the crispy cauliflower and lamb tart to start. Both dishes were perfectly seasoned and the cauliflower was definitely crispy. The saffron butter chicken and the prawns narkel were our entree. Prawns were large and cooked to perfection and the chicken was moist and juicy Both sauces were so well spiced. We will definitely return.“

“Though no one was answering the phone there to see if it was open, we ventured on a Wednesday night around 630 before a show at the Count Basie. Walked in and a less than handful of folks at the small bar. No one at the tables. I had to trust the Yelp reviews. Two people seemed to be working, and I believe one was manager and chef. Menu was nice and service was attentive and friendly. The guac was very generous and very good. The entrees had a lot going on on the plate. Fish, rice, corn, salad, veggies, Brussel sprouts, asparagus. A very large serving plate. Could tell care went into the food presentation. Will definitely be back. This is a hidden gem that deserves a spotlight.“

“Even though I'm a native Staten Islander, I never really go to eat on this side of the Island. This place is an old school style restaurant and I heard good things about it, so at 59 years old I visited there on September 16, 2023 with my wife and another couple for the first time. We all loved the food. The menu is so big it reminds me of a diner menu but classier and we all loved our entrees and appetizers. The young waitress we had was adorable, efficient, professional and attentive. In short, we will definitely be going back to Canlons and highly recommend it to our friends and family.“

“One of my local favorites! This place is consistent! We frequently order pizza, sandwiches, GF pizza and my all time fav Chicken Francese from here. I do suggest ordering any pasta al dente. This is one of my favorite chicken Francese entrees in the area! Since it's my favorite dish I've probably ordered it hundreds of times in NJ. The chicken is thin and cooked well, the sauce has the perfect amount of lemon, and the pasta when cooked al dente pairs great with the sauce. The staff is always professional and service is typically quick. Since this establishment does primarily takeout, expect to wait longer Friday-Sunday. Expect to use street parking, which can be a little tricky when it's busy for a quick takeout order (however I rarely have trouble except for a Friday or Saturday night). This is a classic pizzeria style restaurant. It's nothing fancy, but the food is delicious.“

Menu does not have gluten free items labeled so had to search a bit for what I could eat and ask more questions. Explained my gluten sensitivity to the waiter, he assured me that my dish would be gluten free. I ordered the scallops with risotto and I noticed the crispy leeks and should have asked more questions, but my dish still came out with the flour-coated crispy leeks on it. For that reason I would not consider this a celiac-safe restaurant. The scallops were delicious and lemony with capers. Would definitely get this again. My family member got the cowboy steak and gave me a taste and the texture was amazing, super tender and it was cooked to perfection. The seating is good for groups, reservations are a must.“

“We have frequented Woody's for years. However, this experience was not as great as usual. To start our waitress seemed not to like us for some reason. Her demeaner with us was stoic while jovial with other tables. Secondly, they made changes to the menu that I don't care for, like the guacamole on the blackened chicken tacos. Just add Baja sauce. Also, the salad lack today's salad expectations. For one, the dressings are thick and processed. They need to be fresh prepared in house. Also, bring back the old recipe for the drunken clams. It was the best around and we've tried many. It's all there at Woody's for a nice casual meal. It just needs to be rejuvenated.“
