They were overwhelmed with the number of guests due to what looks like being short (Saturday night).The only COMPLAINT I have is that MUSIC was too LOUD, we couldn't talk, had to scream, and in the end, everyone lost their voices. DJ had a good selection of dance music, but there was NO PLACE TO DANCE. There was hardly any place to walk. DJ didn't give any breaks, just banged all night long, and with no option for dancing, it was unnecessary.Please, have your DJ make short intermission or run music at the lower volume periodically so ppl can talk.“
“My wife and I visited this cute little Italian restaurant recently to celebrate our first anniversary. When we got there, we were greeted by the owner who acted as our server as well as the cook. We started off with the meatballs as a starter. They were made old school, like my great grandmother would make it with pine nuts and raisins. They were delicious and the sauce was fantastic. My wife had the surf and turf and I had the rib eye special. Both were cooked a perfect medium-rare. The owner (who’s name I unfortunately have forgotten), heard us raving about the meatballs and brought us out a complimentary bowl of freshly made pappardelle pasta with red sauce and more meatballs. Needless to say, we were beyond stuffed. When he heard that it was our anniversary, he then proceeded to insist we stay for a surprise dessert on the house. This was an offer we couldn’t refuse! A few minutes later he dropped a warm funnel cake in front of us, topped with strawberries, vanilla ice cream, salted caramel and whipped cream. It was fantastic! I really can’t recommend this place enough. If you’re looking for a great meal at a great price, this is the place for you!“

Our server Norbert was pleasant and professional, suggesting the best of what the restaurant offers (which is everything including the bread basket and condiments.) Everything we ordered was amazing: the fried calamari morsels were fresh and tender in a delicious, light batter. Clams on the half shell were so fresh and succulent! The meatballs, eggplant parm, chicken parm and chicken francese were entrees that were big on both taste and portion size. “Even though I'm a native Staten Islander, I never really go to eat on this side of the Island. This place is an old school style restaurant and I heard good things about it, so at 59 years old I visited there on September 16, 2023 with my wife and another couple for the first time. We all loved the food. The menu is so big it reminds me of a diner menu but classier and we all loved our entrees and appetizers. The young waitress we had was adorable, efficient, professional and attentive. In short, we will definitely be going back to Canlons and highly recommend it to our friends and family.“

I was skeptical. Then I was pleasantly surprised. Hidden gem right here! Sauce was tasty. The bottom of the pie had a unique crunch. Good crust. Surprising amount of flop, but it didn't hurt it. Could be we arrived too early. They were just getting started. I give it an 8.1.“

“I love this spot so so so so so much! We order nearly every weekend for takeout delivered to us. I love their Oolong milk tea, Strawberry slush and Passion Fruit Tea. Their lychee slush is not too sweet, just right for those who prefers lighter tastes. Their seafood boil is flavorful and fresh! I love the Garlic Butter sauce, but would love to try their other sauce too. Their fried lobster ball is literally a ball of lobster meat!!! So delicious! Almost every weekend, I would always order drinks from them. I have tried Oolong milk tea from many places, but only this one will always be my favorite because it always tastes perfect.Sometimes, their website would have some kind of update and we wouldn't be able to order through online to get the drinks delivered. But whenever we call to ask if they deliver to our address, the staff would tell us that they can deliver. “Been coming here for years the food is always great. My family came yesterday for a birthday. The chips and salsa they give you while you wait are great . Fried nicely with a nice warm almost chili like salsa. The house vinaigrette that comes with the salad is amazing. I frequently order the chicken villaroy as my entree and it's so good. All entrees come with family style rice and potatoes that are almost like chips but still somehow soft and almost French fry like. I finished off all my food with a chocolate mouse cake and it's amazing . Took some bites of the fried cheesecake as well and was also great . The staff are all so friendly. “The food here is always great, the service is always on point. Some of these comments got to be outdated cus I never had a problem with the service. The bartender and server always go above and beyond to make sure everything is clean and my glass is never empty. Food is perfect too and if you need any accommodations they have no problems. Best service I ever had in Staten Island was from here. And the guy that said they keep dirty rags near the food, I was there that day they were switching the rag out for a new one he saw it and started flipping out manager told him they were getting a fresh one and they did . and he said the service was bad, I watched the waitress pack his food quickly and he tried to run out without paying. “First off, first time here, and I have been living on the island for 13 yrs. The food was good. The one thing I didn't like was rasta pasta it was missing something. the cream sauce was a little too thick it didn't coat all the pasta. The stew chicken and black eye peas were my favorite, along with the collard greens. I'll definitely come back for that. The person who took the order could've been paying more attention. The orders got mixed up, but it just seemed a little rush, but overall, it was good.“
