“Deninos has great pizza and is usually nice and well done. I will admit I used to love their calamari - it was nice and crispy. But over the years the have changed the recipe, now it is chewy and kinda gross. I hate to throw shade on this pizzeria because I have been going there since I was a kid but I want to leave an honest review. And I wish they would update their glasses instead. They are so small and you got to suck with these tiny red straws. I'll admit I am not a fan of that (but it is tradition). I love their pizza but I will say it used to be better than it is currently. The last time I went here was 2 years ago. It was for a family birthday party. Most of my family was surprised with how much the recipes changed. However we mostly order pizza and calamari. So I can't say how the other menu options are. All in all I will continue to go here just not as frequently as I used to. Because it is far from my home and it just isn't what it used to be.“

“Just had Ungaro's tonight for the 3rd time with my kids and it was just as great as ever. Kids are tough critics for pizza, but they loved it. They just have to work on the pronunciation of the name. I love driving back into the neighborhood I grew up in to support local family businesses as my family was in I know all to well how challenging it can be especially with regards to location. This place never disappoints. It's comfortable and quaint, always well lit with some classic Italian tunes on and the food knocks it out of the park. We enjoyed a classic cheese pie and mozzarella sticks, a must for my kids, and I got for the third time this fig and cheese app on crostini bread with a honey and glaze drizzle. Ming ! My only complaint is a kitchen staff member was taking a break while I was eating with my family and total disregard blasting some telemundo crap from two tables away at full volume. I was about more than halfway done but it totally messed up the vibe. Dinner with the kids, drizzling outside, they had a long day were talking about the neighborhood and Boom just a total left field hit of some random telemundo or something. And he had the phone propped up on a bottle of iced tea so I said to myself " well this experience has just ended ". I asked the waitress who was lovely if that man worked there she said yes so I asked her to take care of it and she did. If it was a regular patron I would have been polite and asked them to cut it. Now listen, I get it. The guy is taking a break and it's a small place. I just hate when workers do things they wouldn't do if the owners were there. The guy even turned the phone back on but lower about 15 minutes later, I could hear it dude !! That's rude! Bring some headphones to work. Business is hard enough without ownership having to worry about a rogue dishwasher not giving a rats ass about their business and what they are trying to build. “Jimmy Max has always been a Staten Island staple to me, but I recently hosted a first party for my daughter there and can now double down on that sentiment. :-) Erin was so wonderful to work with leading up to the party. She was quick to respond via email, answered all of my questions, and sat with us in person to sort out final details. The day of the event, Erin and the rest of the staff worked so hard to make sure that everyone was happy throughout the day. It’s the first party I’ve hosted where I felt relaxed from start to finish - and that’s all thanks to the staff at Jimmy Max. The food was delicious and plentiful! The space was beautiful! “Campania Coal-Fired Pizza was reserved for birthday dinner. We got a table in the corner and it gave us some privacy because place was overloaded with people. The interior is designed in dark and gold colors and was sparkling in the light of chandeliers. It was little hard to walk around because the tables are placed too close. The waiter gave us too much time for food choices but we were a great company and it is nothing to complain about. Soon we got bread on the table with some tomato sauce and drinks. Really. The Italian place can not serve such bread which felt as couple days old, dry as paper. And sauce did not make it somehow better. FRESH MOZZARELLA and TRUFFLE MAC & CHEESE were our appetisers. Mozzarella was horrible rubbery with no mentioned grilled peppers. The basil and some spring mix that were placed instead of peppers was very fresh, olive oil was flavourful and olives were tasty with few slices of prosciutto. Overall I don’t believe they can charge 21 for such dish. TRUFFLE MAC & CHEESE was tasty with interesting rings pasta with good texture of the sauce but no one noticed any truffle flavour. Next we got gnocchi with lobster. It was special dish on menu for Ester. Nicely served, delicious sauce, soft and silky gnocchi but we barely found any lobster in. The star of the table were pizza pies. Little over baked but delicious. We ordered Lombard pizza, Ortolano pizza and one pie half chicken buffalo and pepperoni. All of them were very tasty and enjoyable. Even those who didn’t want to have pizza that day couldn’t stand to have a piece. We had a great time, environment was little too loud but we definitely are planning to come back.“

In fact, probably one of the better pies around my area. However recently they dont seem to be listening to their customers. Whenever I order a pie, I order it well done… always. But the last few months, the pies never come well done even though it is clearly written on the receipt in bold red letters. I have held off, thinking this would correct itself, but unfortunately it hasn’t. If one is going to pay $20.00 for a plain pie, or any pie, listen to your customers and make the pie the way they request. Not just rush it out the door because you are busy. And while I am talking about the receipt, what’s with the $1.00 delivery charge? Not sure why I never noticed it before and I know it’s only a dollar, but that’s not the point. Covid is over bro, stop nickel and diming your customers. The place is always packed and it’s always a long wait for a pie, so I think you can afford to pay your employees enough without tacking on an extra dollar to everyone’s delivery. I’d rather pay more for the food than see a extra delivery charge on my bill. At least make me feel a little bit like I’m not getting screwed. Next time I’ll just deduct it from the drivers tip.
