The squirrel bass was crispy on the outside, tender inside, and cooked to perfection. The fish is freshly prepared — they literally have a tank right by the entrance, so you know it’s super fresh!“

“Can I please give it 6 stars? I recently went there with a group of five family members while visiting New Jersey and we had a truly extraordinary night! As an investor in restaurants I'm very critical when visiting any restaurant and not often impressed even with well known critically acclaimed restaurants. It's very rare when a place has truly incredible food with every appetizer and entree as well as first class VIP vibes for service. You could literally taste the passion and care put into every plate with beautifully prepared flavorful abundant meals. In fact, it was the first time in almost a decade I brought home leftovers as the meal was delicious and easily sufficient for two people. Our entire table raved about their meals and the attentive but not obtrusive service was always there to refill our wine and assist without any of us having to look up for service. The food alone would have made for a great night but what truly made it memorable besides the great waitstaff was the manager, Eli. When was the last time a manager, GM or owner greated you at your table to share a polite, interesting and passionate conversation about the food and why they love sharing this experience with their valued customers? He made our entire table feel like VIPs and made perfect recommendations for wine and dessert. It felt more like we were in someone's home as we were there for close to 3-1/2 hours talking, eating, drinking and laughing. The ambiance is warm and unpretentious and the memories of a great experience will certainly bring us back again.“

Wow! Firstly, very lovely first impression walking in and being seated. I am a big fan of the robin-egg colored tableware and the Miniso Dundun chicken timers lol. The place felt very clean and fresh, upon arriving.

Food:
The broth was extremely rich and flavorful! Genuinely tasted like it was prepared for a long time (10 hours) just like they advertise! It tasted very savory and it pairs well with the chicken and the other sides! The fish maw white fungus, chinese yam, pumpkin, and hand pulled noodles were all very fresh and high quality. I personally loved how chewy the noodles were after cooking it!

Our order was 2 servings it felt like a reasonable price. Definitely satisfied with the portion size given that we felt pretty full afterwards.

Service felt very welcoming and friendly.

“This place is a 10 out of 10. Every time I go the food is consistently great. The service is excellent and they make you feel special when you let them know the reason you are celebrating.

I aways get the Filet Mignon - perfectly cooked and the mashed potatoes are amazing! They have the best mashed potatoes I've ever had.“

“Simply known as 'The Armory' this mainly seafood place has an old wartime feel, big brick building with lots of windows along the water/pier/outside bar. We walked in and were greeted and seated within 5 minutes. Amazing menu, nothing bad at all (four of us all tried different items), the calimari is not overly crunch, the pork chops were thick and well cooked/cut, I had jumbo shrimp, but the word jumbo doesn't do the dish justice. Extremely well curated menu, sangria was to die for, and we had a pinapple/cinnimon dessert that was really good (light because the meal was so heavy). Don't have to dress up, a nice button down shirt and nice shorts/pants for men is just fine, but don't go like a slob, it's still a nice place. Lots of birthdays and celebrations going on, for us it was a saturday night dinner with old friends. Thank you Armory, the service and food were top notch!!!“

“I am a big sticker for fried food not being greasy and this was the first time I have ever been to this restaurant. The chicken came out HOT which is extremely important and had just the right seasoning. When I didn't see greasy chicken or the paper inside greasy I tried one and before I knew it I had eaten five wings waiting for the rest of my food. And I bought 12 pieces to take home and share. Also try the bean pie OMG I literally ate the entire thing. I purchased the small one. I don't usually eat the crust but it was so delicious.“

“It would be easy to overlook this place. It’s buried way in the back of a strip mall. The interior ambience isn’t anything to brag about, either. Yet it is a true gem with amazing food at good prices and excellent service. My wife and I each ordered pizzas. She got the 12” Chicken Pesto and I ordered the 12” Meat Lover’s. Both came out promptly. It was amazing, the best pizza I’ve had in years. I can’t say too many good things about it. Everything was in perfect harmony, a symphony of umami and cheese. Meatballs, sausage, bacon. It had it all. Each bite a delight. My wife also loved her pizza. We stopped in on a Monday on the way up north for a show. There were a few tables occupied but I would imagine it probably gets busy on weekends. Even so, I would make a point of stopping in here again next time I’m passing through the area at dinner time.“

Everything remains consistent and delicious in the family special with tartar sauce. The shrimp however has changed over the years and was over battered and not clean. “My wife and I have been patrons and huge fans of Chez Catherine for nearly 30 years. Last Friday, we happily celebrated our 39th anniversary there with another very fine lunch. It's always a pleasure to be greeted like old friends by owner Stephane Bocket and seated at what we think is the best table in the tastefully decorated, elegant restaurant. We both chose the prix fixe menu. For starters, my wife had the always terrific moules and I a lovely mixed salad. We both chose beef bourguignons for our main course and asked Stephane to suggest wine from the by-the-glass list. His selections of a chablis for my wife and pinot noir for me worked perfectly with the outstanding bourguignons. We finished by sharing a delicious Baba au Rhum, prepared by Stephane at tableside. Dining at Chez Catherine is always a special event to us. Everything about it is first class. If you are unfamiliar with Chez Catherine, it has been one of New Jersey's Top 5 restaurants for nearly 40 years.
