“I had the filet and my wife had the short ribs. Both were made to perfection and were large helpings. It essentially operates as a bar where people enjoy beer, ordering sandwiches as a sideline. We were quite taken by the superb quality and variety of dishes in the dinner menu. One grievance, which is not their fault, was it was very loud. On our way back, we go either early or late to the otherwise noisy after-work crowd. Really,y our food and service were excellent. We sat at the back by the fireplace which was a little quieter.“

“One of my favorite bars in all of New York. Charming and cozy interior, great music (typically Japanese City Pop) and friendly staff (Ashley and Isaac are the best!) They serve one of my favorite beers here - the Suntory Premium Malt - and it's always poured to perfection. My girlfriend loves their cocktails, creative and well-balanced. I drop in at least a couple times a month and I've never had anything but a fantastic experience. I always feel at home here. Not only great for couples/dates but also to stop by for a quick pint after work. Cannot recommend this establishment highly enough.“

The cocktail menu has great options, but I recommend doing bartender's choice at least once. The staff is very good–last time I was there Kenny provided great service. I wasn't quite sure what I was in the mood for but he was really nice and asked good questions about what sorts of things I typically like–which resulted in an excellent drink.“

We ordered the mushroom and leek gratin, the chicories hazelnut salad and scallops and every thing was incredibly delicious! The gratin was creamy and rich, the salad very flavorful with a perfectly balanced dressing and the scallops so buttery.

We had the choice of several bakeries but must end by telling this story…we had checked out a couple of bakeries but after a final wedding gown fitting we decided to visit Calandras. Unannounced we asked to see the person who could help us with our wedding cake. Calandra’s is an incredible “complex” and was extremely busy place but we were directed to Aisha Maliki. Aisha dropped everything presented us with an exquisite tray of every wedding cake option in bite size proportions all fresh and delicious. She gave us coffee and tea and gave us time to talk amongst ourselves in a relaxed atmosphere until our decision was unanimous! She then proceeded to take us through the endless design options available and helped us tweak every little detail until alas our vision for the PERFECT wedding cake had come to life! Mind you we did this unannounced but Aisha couldn’t have been more cordial personable professional and most of all friendly! We left SO elated to leave having one of the most important wedding checkboxes checked and feeling we just had welcomed a new family member into the fold! Based on our incredible experience with Aisha and Calandra’s your choice for YOUR wedding cake and pastries should be Calandra’s! You will definitely not be sorry!“
