I drank a few cocktails ( mainly the gin /tequila based)- all were nice,fresh and alcohol forward which was appreciated .

The food was 10/10 for me , we got

Everything was delicious,fresh and well seasoned.

“87 Sussex is more than just a restaurant; it’s a full-on culinary dimension. From the moment you walk through the door, you are transported into a beautifully designed space that sets the stage for an unforgettable experience.

As someone who has worked front-of-house for years, I was blown away by the service. Amanda greeted us with such warmth and was incredibly attentive to our reservation notes. My best friend and I were celebrating a belated birthday, and the specially printed 'Happy Birthday' menus were such a thoughtful, high-end touch.

The mixology here is world-class. The Inferno Jam cocktail was a masterpiece—a smoky, sweet, and tart multi-sensory experience that I’ve never seen executed better. That level of detail carried over into every dish. The Ox & Egg and the Escargot Wontons were incredible, featuring textures and flavors that literally evolve as you eat them. For the entree, our server suggested the Osso Buco, which featured some of the best Al Dente pasta I’ve ever had and perfectly tender meat. We finished with the Chocolate Turtle Cake, which was a roller coaster of moist cake, crunchy toasted walnuts, and sweet toffee.

A massive thank you to our server, Hazem. He was the rockstar of the evening—clearly very experienced, friendly, and never left us hanging. He made us feel so welcome for our first visit. “My husband and I went for Valentines Day and we liked it. The drinks and apps were amazing. Highly recommend the cast iron mac and cheese. Our entrees were ok, my husband asked for his steak medium and it was well done. My veggie burger was NOT good. We agreed we would just get different entrees next time we come back. And then we got the pecan pie for dessert and oh my god! Might be the best pecan pie either of us have ever had. Would seriously go back just for the mac and cheese and pecan pie.“

“Nice speakeasy under the eatery right in the square of Jersey city. The vibes were chic and sophisticated and the music was something you could listen to for hours. The prices for the appetizers were a bit on the pricey side but the drinks made up for it. If you want to meet up somewhere for a quick drink for a girls night or date night I would come here.“

Music, service, drinks, and food are all 10/10! Everything is very affordable. Parking isn’t great, but where is in NJ? The inside is a little small, but it truly just feels more intimate. Victoria was so attentive and we will definitely be back asap!“
