The prices were on the higher side but not over the top. But sitting outside worked perfectly, for a girls night.

“Cangiano's is an iconic name in gourmet food and Italian specialty foods, and they truly live up to their reputation. From the moment we placed our order, it was clear that this establishment stands head and shoulders above the rest. We are very discerning when it comes to restaurants, especially when it comes to gourmet markets, Italian-American pork stores, and specialty shops—and Cangiano's is, without a doubt, the best of the best.

We ordered delivery, and the sandwiches arrived picture-perfect. One bite, and we were in tastebud bliss! The flavors were absolutely mouthwatering—pure perfection, as expected. Having enjoyed Cangiano's food for decades in Staten Island, we were heartbroken when they closed.

Naturally, we were so very pleased to discover a Cangiano's in Jersey City and run by the same extended family. And as it turns out, they haven't missed a beat—still delivering the same unmatched quality and expertise.

Their sandwiches blow away the competition. After trying three from their extensive and thoughtfully curated menu, I can't imagine going anywhere else for sandwiches or catering. “We order Carmine's regularly in our local pizza rotation. (It's yummy - the grandma pizza with pepperoni and the BBQ wings are our favorites). Tonight something happened that made me write a review. I came in fairly late with my kid, who was feeling defeated just after a baseball loss. The kind of slices he wanted were all gone... until the guy behind the counter noticed his frown and did extra to make it happen even though they were closing up. Thank you for being so kind to us! “Grove Station is a cool place. It is welcoming to the straight and LGBTQ+ community. I had several beers and lively conversation with other patrons at the bar. I didn't sample the food as I was not hungry so I can't comment, However I did look at the menu and there were lots of great choices. It's directly across from the Grove Street PATH station so it's easy to get to. It is not a large place but I kind of liked the intimate atmosphere. There is also outdoor seating with a covering. A good chill place to hang out for me. I posted a pic of a cool patron I met and talked to. We exchanged numbers and stay in touch now. I also posted the menu.“

“I always thought of this place primarily in terms of takeout but I had my daughter's first birthday there a couple of weeks ago and would be remiss not to share what a wonderful experience it was on all fronts. First of all, as other reviewers have noted the food is incredible. Every single person in our party raved about their meals--mostly pizza orders, but I had a hot sub and I could not devour it fast enough, it was so delicious. Quality ingredients and really authentic preparation. Beyond the great food though I want to highlight what a lovely experience we had at the establishment. The restaurant was so accommodating to our needs--they let us bring in our own decorations and cake, even let me come in early to set up, and it really made the day feel special and personal. Unlike most other places, they also let us relax and enjoy ourselves. We lingered for a while and at no point did they make us feel like we needed to wrap it up and leave. As the mother of the birthday girl it really meant a lot to me, and I don't think I would have gotten that experience anywhere else. But I was pleased to find it fairly good! The small salad that came with it helped -- at least a little bit of vegetables is important to me.I initially thought the $24 price tag was slightly expensive if I was not going to like the dish. But since I did like it, AND the portion was likely large enough for at least 1.5 adult servings, I thought it was a pretty good deal. I ate all of it, even though I felt I shouldn't have.“
