I drank a few cocktails ( mainly the gin /tequila based)- all were nice,fresh and alcohol forward which was appreciated .

The food was 10/10 for me , we got

Everything was delicious,fresh and well seasoned.

“Atmosphere was great, super chill and perfect for a casual night out. Callie, I hope I got her name right, did a wonderful job. She was working as both the bartender and our server and handled everything so smoothly. You could tell she was busy but still stayed friendly and attentive the whole time. The drinks were amazing too. Definitely a good spot for casual drinks with friends.

Unfortunately, the steak wasn’t our favorite. Me and my girls all ordered it and it was very hard to chew (cooked medium) and could have used more seasoning :/ That said, the fries that came with it were amazinggg.

Overall, I would definitely come back for the drinks and the vibe.“

“I stay at the Canopy every time I come to Jersey City. Their food has always been amazing and yet they continue to dazzle with a new menu with the same cravings and yummy additions. “Fantastic oysters in both quality and selection. Staff is casual and friendly. The kitchen is competent and there are good non shellfish items including a decent burger. However I found my strip steak lacking and though I was told it was a Pat LA Frieda steak, it was not the quality steak I've enjoyed from him before.“

“I have been to Bistro Taino several times including for a special birthday dinner and it never disappoints. Tonight I went with some coworkers and as always everything was so good. We shared the crabmeat empanadas and each had the bifongo as entrees with chicken, steak, and seafood. We also shared the coconut tembleque for dessert. Special shout out to our server, Arianni, she was amazing! Friendly, attentive, and personable. Great service, food and ambiance, can’t ask for more. “Chris was our waiter today. We came in with my wife’s 100 year old grandfather and 99 year old Grandmother on her birthday. They are from Shanghai. Chris immediately knew to bring kids waters, 2 hot waters for the grandparents and 2 regular waters for myself and my wife. Service was fast and accurate. The food soup base was perfect and the food was very fresh with great portions. The ice cream for grandma’s 99th birthday was a great touch. We look forward to coming back again.“

“This place was such a great discovery! Beautiful interior and an excellent cocktail selection, both in taste and presentation. The Gin & Jam was fantastic, and the Coconut Espresso Martini is probably one of the best espresso martinis I’ve had.

We ordered the lamb chops, which were cooked to perfection, and the oyster mushroom pasta, both dishes were outstanding. Finished with tiramisu, which was also very good.

Lastly, the staff was incredibly kind and attentive! Definitely a great spot - will be back!“

“Food was really good. The Amish Chicken and Jerk Short ribs were delicious. Server was great. Kitchen seemed to get a bit backed up a peak time. That gave us an opportunity to taste their pull apart bread (whoa), which they brought out due to the wait.

“87 Sussex is more than just a restaurant; it’s a full-on culinary dimension. From the moment you walk through the door, you are transported into a beautifully designed space that sets the stage for an unforgettable experience.

As someone who has worked front-of-house for years, I was blown away by the service. Amanda greeted us with such warmth and was incredibly attentive to our reservation notes. My best friend and I were celebrating a belated birthday, and the specially printed 'Happy Birthday' menus were such a thoughtful, high-end touch.

The mixology here is world-class. The Inferno Jam cocktail was a masterpiece—a smoky, sweet, and tart multi-sensory experience that I’ve never seen executed better. That level of detail carried over into every dish. The Ox & Egg and the Escargot Wontons were incredible, featuring textures and flavors that literally evolve as you eat them. For the entree, our server suggested the Osso Buco, which featured some of the best Al Dente pasta I’ve ever had and perfectly tender meat. We finished with the Chocolate Turtle Cake, which was a roller coaster of moist cake, crunchy toasted walnuts, and sweet toffee.

A massive thank you to our server, Hazem. He was the rockstar of the evening—clearly very experienced, friendly, and never left us hanging. He made us feel so welcome for our first visit. The cocktails were amazingggg, I found myself chugging without even realizing because I just enjoyed it so much. The food was amazing and filling as well. We got the steak and chicken for dinner and the tuna for appetizer. Would definitely come here again, such a vibe. A lot of the people around us were speaking other languages than English too which I loved, felt like a real melting pot!
