“With outstanding quality and impeccable consistency, South Sichuan is a “No Miss” chinese restaurant with a great variety of spices and flavors. The freshness of their food will make it very hard to return to your neighborhood chinese takeout spot, and it is evidenced even in their side servings of white rice. This restaurant absolutely deserves its ratings.“

“Went there with party of 4 on Sat evening. Good thing we had reservation. They were pretty full and people without reservations were turned away. We did have to wait before they sat us but it wasn’t too long. It’s a byod place so bring your own 🍷 🍻.
Parking was difficult - but that’s typical in downtown Chinatown. Recommend the calamari appetizer that was made just right. Lightly battered and flavored. Really enjoyed the sauté mushroom - flavored very well. I had the egg pancake with scallion on rice… which reminds me of my childhood. Others in our party had interesting options too. I tried the salmon over sticky rice - that was hands down the best dish on the table that night! Cooked perfectly - when the salmon flakes but not overcooked and rice was delicious! The chicken dish was also good.
We tried two of the dessert that turned out perfectly - not too sweet. Mango sago had something like grapefruit in there adding a twist to the dish. I would go back !“

“Made reservations at 7pm at loch bar for my sister’s birthday. I got there first and since my sister was a few minutes away, the host couldn’t seat me without her. My sister arrived at 7:05pm and the host informed us that it was busy therefore we would have to wait at the bar until there is a table available. I’m not sure what is the point of a reservation, if you won’t be seated right away. The bartender was really nice and welcoming. 20 minutes later, there was an open table. The appetizers were delicious especially the mussels!!!! The caviar and potato skin were sooo good as well. The oysters were fresh & cold just how I like it. I ordered shots of clase azul for my sister’s bday and we decided to do a bump of caviar & a shot of clase azul. It was a great combo! Thank me later.“

“Excellent food and very reasonable price compared to other Chinatown dim sum restaurants. The food is self-serve: you grab a tray and go pick what you want and bring it to your table on your own. Staff take away your used trays and empty dishes.“

“The food is absolutely amazing!
The quality is truly top-notch.
Every dish feels thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. My personal favorite is the fried shrimp.
It’s perfectly cooked! It’s the kind of food that reminds you of your mom’s homemade cooking.“

“I ordered twice from them through Uber Eats and the food is fantastic! The first time I had fried rice, bbq spare rib tips, blue lemonade, and cheesesteak roll. This time I had regular lemonade with young chow fried rice. I sprinkled soy sauce on it in the picture, but trust me, it didn’t need it, it’s good on its own and I was just being extra lol. They’re officially my favorite Chinese food spot. They’re flavorful, consistent, and always piping hot!“

“So glad I found this restaurant amongst the many in Chinatown. I enjoy the roasted duck noodle soup from another restaurant but I decided to give this a try and I was happy I did!
I like how Lau Kee separates the broth from the noodles and vegetables! The flavor of the broth alone was delicious! When I put the two together…it was perfection. The duck is seasoned well and there is a nice portion of noodles.
I will definitely be adding Lau Kee to my fav list!“

“I had such a good experience here. The broth was genuinely flavorful — not watered down or overly salty like some places. We did a split pot and both sides stayed rich the whole time. The spicy broth actually had depth to it instead of just heat, which I really appreciated.
The ingredient quality stood out the most. The meat was thinly sliced and fresh, not frozen-tasting, and the vegetables looked crisp and clean. Their sauce bar was also surprisingly good — lots of options, and everything tasted fresh. I liked being able to mix my own without it feeling messy or picked-over.“

“Been here very often and service is always top notch. Food is excellent and I always recommend people here.
One of my favorite dishes are a shrimp stuffed wild mushroom, sticky rice lobster, and a salted duck egg crab.
Most of their dishes are excellent and they have a great variety of desert and buns.“

“Being from nyc, and have had many a many different Asian foods … this.. this place has the most authentic taste ever… from noodles to your comfort favorites of garlic shrimp or general tso, you can really tell it’s not the same sticky or hard or typical fast food Chinese! Always come only here when visiting Philly!“

“Believe the reviews this is a hidden gem I’m happy I found it I doubted at first based off the way it look meaning the space but this is authentic Chinese food clean, fresh and the sauce is different then any other Chinese store I went to in south Philly it’s so good this my new favorite spot“

“Okay so the thing is when I went to the actual location and dined in everything 11/10 from service to food. Like I’ve been thinking about it since I went and i decided to order delivery today and am so sad will only be dining in for future. Ordered at 1pm my driver was on his way at 1:08?? General tso chicken was tender, great portion, white meat but I think from the steam in the packaging the chicken got soggy and the sauce got loose, like really loose. Wonton noodle soup was packaged very well with noodle dumpling and veg separate from broth, and their dumplings are so good I think they are shrimp - but the broth was not seasoned like it was when I dined in, just bland. Lastly I’m sad to say I won’t even try the spring rolls because they look like they’ve been sitting out for a while but I’m sure they are tasty I just cant get over that they look super crunchy in a bad way. Photos are from when I dined in vs when I got takeout.“

“For those who grew up in Cantonese households all know what “熱氣 (yit hei)” is all about lol.
What first caught my eye was the name: “Heung Fa Chun” (杏花邨) is actually the name of a real housing estate in Hong Kong, which instantly gave me a sense of authenticity.
They serve all kinds of nostalgic HK style snacks, from steamed buns and zongzi to traditional pastries and desserts. A true hole-in-the-wall gem in Philly Chinatown.
I was feeling a bit “yit hei” (literally “hot air” in Cantonese), so I grabbed myself a 龜苓膏 (herbal jelly/gui ling gao, aka “turtle jelly”). It's one of the go-to remedies for combatting yit hei. If you’re feeling yit hei, like breaking out, getting sore throats, or even indigestion, you need to eat some gwai ling go.
I was quite surprised to find it here. My mom would be so proud I got it without her having to tell me.
Warning: it’s VERY bitter if you eat it on its own. Definitely add the syrup to turn it into a healthy sweet trea.“

“I have only ordered take-out delivery. The orders are accurate and delivery is quick. But -the food is delicious. Absolutely the best Hot and Sour soup. I ordered Wonton Soup tonight and I cannot believe how tender the wontons were. Just delicious!“

“Jiang Nan has a dark, intimate vibe, but the spotlight lighting on the food makes everything look extra good. Service was quick and way more friendly and hospitable than most Chinatown spots. They even gave us a small complimentary spicy cabbage that was super refreshing. We ordered the Peking duck, salted egg yolk fried prawns, and Dan Dan noodles. The duck was sooo tender and the skin was crispy but light, not hard or chewy like Sang Kee can be sometimes. The salted egg yolk prawns were really good and nice and crispy. The Dan Dan noodles were okay, just a little basic compared to the other dishes. I’d definitely go back to try more. Just FYI, happy hour is only Monday–Thursday!“
“Ordered lunch from Cheng’s on 3/19/26 ~ 1pm. After watching many videos on social media of creators eating yat gaw mein, I was craving but did not want to go to a place that had a high crime rate.
Staff: The staff was friendly and patient when I ordered and made sure I knew how to get to location.
Environment: Located on York Rd in Govans north of Cold Spring, the environment was OK but there were quite a few young men loitering on sidewalk…no one gave me a hard time when walking in or out.
Food: ordered the shrimp ya gat mein stir fry and a cheese steak egg roll. Noodles were thick, well coated in sauce. Served with onions. There were between 16 - 20 shrimp that were small, likely frozen previously but were deveined. The dish was solid but I would have preferred more salt. Next time, I will order the other way they prepare and ask for some heat. The hard-boiled egg was perfect. Not overcooked at all. Cheesesteak egg roll was very cheesy and tasty. There wasn’t a great deal of beef in the roll however. After eating half the meal, I felt satisfied but not full and sleepy like I have after eating carry out from other places.
Cost: $13.50 plus tax
I will go back again.“

“This is our go to Chinese restaurant! The first and only that we really love around here! It’s a 20 min walk from us and in hot weather it feels longer, but it’s ALWAYS worth it! They’re so nice, the food is awesome, fair prices, and our order is always right! Their cheese pizza rolls are so good! Which are a nice treat when you want pizza and Chinese lol. Their shrimp eggs rolls are also my favorite! I usually get two :)“

“I am closing in on 40 and have been coming to this restaurant since I was a small child, some of my earliest memories are family dinners at Da Chen. The staff here are amazing— kind, attentive, helpful, and generous. Their house made duck sauce and crispy fried wonton chips ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD. Do not sleep on them if you only ever order take-out! You receive the crispy wonton chips with any soup order, but you have to ask for their homemade duck sauce on the side (costs like 25¢ iirc)!!! My favorite foods from here are: wonton soup, their complimentary jasmine tea, shrimp toast, beef & broccoli, sweet & sour chicken, general tso’s chicken, pork fried rice, and the bao bao platter (it’s such a fun treat eating this for dine-in). You will always receive the same quality service and food here, and somehow over the years it’s even gotten better! Da Chen is child-friendly and has high chairs available to use, and is wheelchair-accessible straight from the ample free parking lot and into the restaurant. Da Chen accepts cash, debit or credit. Thank you Da Chen!! ?? ❤️
Dietary restrictions: There are vegetarian and gluten free options here
Parking: Da Chen has its own parking lot. It is free with plenty of space.
Kid-friendliness: I have been coming here since I was an infant. Da Chen has high chairs available to use for toddlers and babies :)
Wheelchair accessibility: Da Chen is wheelchair accessible, there is a ramp from the parking lot and inside the store is accessible.“

“Got two orders of General Tso’s. Crispy, spicy, and arguably the best in Philadelphia. Portions were solid, prices were easy on the wallet.
Tommy was cool — service was fast and chill.
And yeah… you can even grab a pack of cigs after. Elite.“

“I've tried all of the available chinese food options in the gibbstown-paulsboro area and this place is far and above the best of them. The portions are great and the food is always tasty. The prices for all of them were about the same, but this place doesn't charge a really high additional fee for using credit/debit to pay. If you want Chinese food in this area, this is the only place you should go to.“
