“My wife and I recently moved to the area and Happy Wok is already in our top three spots for Chinese food. The General Tso's chicken was excellent with a great sauce and just the right amount of spice. The egg rolls were also really good; I feel like you can usually judge a place by their egg rolls since they vary so much, and these were fresh and not greasy at all. The portion sizes are very generous, so we actually had plenty of leftovers for the next day. The pickup time they quoted me was very accurate and the staff was great when I walked in. They also have plenty of parking right in front which makes picking up an order quick and stress-free. If you are looking for a new go-to spot in the neighborhood, I highly recommend giving them a try.“

“It is indeed a modern take on Chinese. Good quality and the server handled our large group easily.
I had an issue with a misplaced item, and the staff was exceptionally kind and helpful in solving it. I haven't received this level of concern and help at any restaurant that I can recall.“

“We had a few different things off the menu and shared. Everything was amazing. All of the ingredients were fresh, the servers had great recommendations, and the service was prompt. We will definitely be back in the warmer months to enjoy the outdoor seating.“

“All the rave reviews are true! I visited with a friend from out of town and we had a feast of our favorites. Nearly everything on the menu is vegan, and it was hard to choose! The lunch special is a fantastic value and includes soup and a spring roll. We chose the miso soup, which we agreed is the most flavorful we've ever had. The staff are friendly and really helpful, and the food came out really fast - truly cooked to order. And, as if that weren't enough, the prices are incredibly reasonable. 10/10. I can't wait to go back!“

“When a restaurant goes viral online, there’s a reason why.
I’ve had this place saved for weeks, so I finally called in an order. This location does take out only (no seats to sit) but their spring garden location does dine in.
My order: dry pepper wings, dry wok string beans, pork belly sweet chili oil, Dan Dan noodles, scallion pancakes.
The dry pepper wings were the BEST wings of my entire life. I’ve had Chinese takeout wings a handful of times, but these were seriously life changing. I understand why people rave about them.
The scallion pancakes were also amazing. I feel most places make them too oily and soggy, but this place makes theirs crispy, which I highly appreciated.
The other dishes did not stand out as much but were still delicious.
We paid $60 for 5 dishes and have enough leftovers to last us 2 more meals. They’re very generous with their portions like others mention. I will definitely be returning!!“

“Made reservations at 7pm at loch bar for my sister’s birthday. I got there first and since my sister was a few minutes away, the host couldn’t seat me without her. My sister arrived at 7:05pm and the host informed us that it was busy therefore we would have to wait at the bar until there is a table available. I’m not sure what is the point of a reservation, if you won’t be seated right away. The bartender was really nice and welcoming. 20 minutes later, there was an open table. The appetizers were delicious especially the mussels!!!! The caviar and potato skin were sooo good as well. The oysters were fresh & cold just how I like it. I ordered shots of clase azul for my sister’s bday and we decided to do a bump of caviar & a shot of clase azul. It was a great combo! Thank me later.“

“Today was our first time here and we will definitely be back! It’s a nice aesthetic and the staff was very welcoming! We started off with the cucumber salad and the minced chicken lettuce both were delicious and flavorful. The cucumber salad had the perfect amount of heat. They brought out complimentary edamame which had a unique flavor, maybe anise, very good. For our entrees we had chicken lo mein and kung pao chicken. The kung pao was absolutely delicious. Very generous portions we were very full! The meal ended with complimentary fruit. Our server was so nice and friendly!“

“I wanted to try some authentic Sichuan food in Philly and I have become a huge fan of this restaurant.
I decided to dine-in and was greeted by the nice host. He gave a recommendation for their Zhong Dumplings (pork) as an appetizer and it looked good so I definitely wanted to see how they came out. They have a spice level system when ordering so I wanted to try my dishes at the 2nd tier since they have a top tier at Cheng-du level and I'll see if I can try that level next time. I wanted to try something I haven't seen on many menus and got an order of their Cumin Beef.
They use a QR code and ordering though the cellphone. It has some technical issue and it didn't take away from the helpful host placing my order.
The cumin beef arrived first and was very pleasing to see with the dried chillies and the veggies like celery and onion that looked amazing and not like some places that just put them in after they have been overcooked. The dish was very flavorful with a good kick and the beef was very tender and not dried out. The portions were worth it for the price and I enjoyed the meal.
I got the zhong dumplings and they looked like they were freshly made. They had a large size and decent amount of filling in a sweet and spicy sauce that is not like a too vinger heavy or too thick like some sweet and sour sauces. The dumpling wrapper had a good bite to them and I was satisfied with this recommendation.
I was full and happy after my meal and still had enough leftover cumin beef to take home. I will definitely recommend this to my coworkers in North Carolina when they visit our Philly site and I will be looking at other recommendations from the staff. It is also great that they have a BYOB so I would recommend taking a group of friends to order they combo sets while enjoying your wine or beers.“

“We were on our way to the Chinese Lantern Festival, and I told my girlfriend I wanted to stop in Chinatown beforehand and get some authentic food. We got there a little after 6:00, so quite a few places had already closed, but thankfully Ji Bei Chuan was still open… and WOW. It did not disappoint.
Everything was absolutely incredible. The flavors, the freshness, the spice, the dumplings… every single bite was so good. You could really tell everything was made with care, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip.
One of our servers was absolutely wonderful—so friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The other server seemed like she just didn’t want to be bothered, which is okay. It didn’t ruin the experience for me, but I wanted to be honest in my review.
If I ever find myself in Chinatown again around dinner time and this place is open, I’m stopping here again without a second thought. The food alone is worth it.“

“Everything is delicious I wish I could’ve finished it all or take it to go but I was traveling. The char siu omelette with rice is crazy good, savory, sweet, umami. I inhaled the lychee cake, it was rose forward but airy. The Hong Kong tea is the perfect breakfast or lunch drink. The fried chicken is insanely crispy.“

“I absolutely love this kind of food! The place was a bit quiet when I arrived, it was past lunchtime, so that made sense. As soon as I sat down, the staff was very welcoming. Even though there was a bit of a language barrier, the service was still warm and attentive. Watching them cook behind the curtain honestly made the whole experience feel even more special.
Right after my food arrived, the place started to fill up. It’s a small spot, but perfectly located and really charming. The ribs, bok choy, garlic eggplant, and corn were all incredible, seriously, so flavorful. Even though I ordered the mild option, it still had that perfect touch of spice.
Everything was delicious. I’ll definitely be back soon. 谢谢“

“For those who grew up in Cantonese households all know what “熱氣 (yit hei)” is all about lol.
What first caught my eye was the name: “Heung Fa Chun” (杏花邨) is actually the name of a real housing estate in Hong Kong, which instantly gave me a sense of authenticity.
They serve all kinds of nostalgic HK style snacks, from steamed buns and zongzi to traditional pastries and desserts. A true hole-in-the-wall gem in Philly Chinatown.
I was feeling a bit “yit hei” (literally “hot air” in Cantonese), so I grabbed myself a 龜苓膏 (herbal jelly/gui ling gao, aka “turtle jelly”). It's one of the go-to remedies for combatting yit hei. If you’re feeling yit hei, like breaking out, getting sore throats, or even indigestion, you need to eat some gwai ling go.
I was quite surprised to find it here. My mom would be so proud I got it without her having to tell me.
Warning: it’s VERY bitter if you eat it on its own. Definitely add the syrup to turn it into a healthy sweet trea.“

“⭐🏆TOP PICK IN CATEGORY 🏆⭐
Hands down the best dumplings I’ve had in Philly. Everything about them is perfect and on point every single time. This is the blind-reach you keep in your pocket when you need a dumpling but don’t wanna search around too hard. Don’t over think it: go here.“

“I’ve been to a few Cambodian restaurants, and this one is by far my favorite. The durian shake tasted super fresh, smooth, and not overly sweet. I also tried the combination noodle soup and the broth was amazing, especially when paired with the fried dough. The spring rolls were also super tasty and crunchy. I highly recommend this spot for both the great atmosphere and delicious food!“

“I ordered twice from them through Uber Eats and the food is fantastic! The first time I had fried rice, bbq spare rib tips, blue lemonade, and cheesesteak roll. This time I had regular lemonade with young chow fried rice. I sprinkled soy sauce on it in the picture, but trust me, it didn’t need it, it’s good on its own and I was just being extra lol. They’re officially my favorite Chinese food spot. They’re flavorful, consistent, and always piping hot!“

“I had such a good experience here. The broth was genuinely flavorful — not watered down or overly salty like some places. We did a split pot and both sides stayed rich the whole time. The spicy broth actually had depth to it instead of just heat, which I really appreciated.
The ingredient quality stood out the most. The meat was thinly sliced and fresh, not frozen-tasting, and the vegetables looked crisp and clean. Their sauce bar was also surprisingly good — lots of options, and everything tasted fresh. I liked being able to mix my own without it feeling messy or picked-over.“
“I was craving for something light and simply ordered a plain congee this morning. To my surprise it wasn’t just “bald” porridge nor full of msg flavors, but it was perfectly above the point where it becomes flavorless. I ask the server, he told me it is because when they cook the congee, they “blended” in a bit of preserved eggs to enhance the natural flavor. I’m definitely visiting again.“
