“I don't know why the Wok is happy but I know why we're happy! What an enjoyable order that was priced in reality. The happy family that I got was packed with meat and the veggies were done perfect. The crab rangoon was light, sweet and creamy. The sweet and sour chicken was traditional without a bunch of extra stuff. Just chicken and sauce. So good! The sesame chicken was sweet, savory, today but the start of the show was their perfect house mustard. My hair curled! The egg roll was the perfect shuttle for that and the duck sauce. No delivery so I picked it up. It was done as I pulled up. The shop is clean and friendly. Everything was under $50. Thanks for a pleasant meal! I'll be back soon.“

“This is pretty much the only place i eat at this mall. For me the price is very reasonable and usually they have something i always enjoy. The spicy fried tofu (w/Veggies & Lo Main) is always great and my go-to when I want a filling snack.
I wish I could give bonus stars simply for the wonderful woman working the register today (9/1/24, roguhly 1 pm). She was amazingly friendly! While I patiently waited for my meal I noticed every customer who came into here (including myself!) was acknowledged and greeted, she made sure to ask if orders were correct double checking and all, and would always find something to compliment or have that moment of a quick impression/connection and making someone's day that much better. Not one person left without a smile. Someone like that is a very rare gift in the food industry. I wish I could give her a proper shout-out, but I never got her name!“

I’ve had this place saved for weeks, so I finally called in an order. This location does take out only (no seats to sit) but their spring garden location does dine in.

My order: dry pepper wings, dry wok string beans, pork belly sweet chili oil, Dan Dan noodles, scallion pancakes.

The dry pepper wings were the BEST wings of my entire life. I’ve had Chinese takeout wings a handful of times, but these were seriously life changing. I understand why people rave about them.

The scallion pancakes were also amazing. I feel most places make them too oily and soggy, but this place makes theirs crispy, which I highly appreciated.

The other dishes did not stand out as much but were still delicious.

We paid $60 for 5 dishes and have enough leftovers to last us 2 more meals. They’re very generous with their portions like others mention. I will definitely be returning!!“

“Made reservations at 7pm at loch bar for my sister’s birthday. I got there first and since my sister was a few minutes away, the host couldn’t seat me without her. My sister arrived at 7:05pm and the host informed us that it was busy therefore we would have to wait at the bar until there is a table available. I’m not sure what is the point of a reservation, if you won’t be seated right away. The bartender was really nice and welcoming. 20 minutes later, there was an open table. The appetizers were delicious especially the mussels!!!! The caviar and potato skin were sooo good as well. The oysters were fresh & cold just how I like it. I ordered shots of clase azul for my sister’s bday and we decided to do a bump of caviar & a shot of clase azul. It was a great combo! Thank me later.“

“I wanted to try some authentic Sichuan food in Philly and I have become a huge fan of this restaurant.

I decided to dine-in and was greeted by the nice host. He gave a recommendation for their Zhong Dumplings (pork) as an appetizer and it looked good so I definitely wanted to see how they came out. They have a spice level system when ordering so I wanted to try my dishes at the 2nd tier since they have a top tier at Cheng-du level and I'll see if I can try that level next time. I wanted to try something I haven't seen on many menus and got an order of their Cumin Beef.

They use a QR code and ordering though the cellphone. It has some technical issue and it didn't take away from the helpful host placing my order.

The cumin beef arrived first and was very pleasing to see with the dried chillies and the veggies like celery and onion that looked amazing and not like some places that just put them in after they have been overcooked. The dish was very flavorful with a good kick and the beef was very tender and not dried out. The portions were worth it for the price and I enjoyed the meal.

I got the zhong dumplings and they looked like they were freshly made. They had a large size and decent amount of filling in a sweet and spicy sauce that is not like a too vinger heavy or too thick like some sweet and sour sauces. The dumpling wrapper had a good bite to them and I was satisfied with this recommendation.

I was full and happy after my meal and still had enough leftover cumin beef to take home. I will definitely recommend this to my coworkers in North Carolina when they visit our Philly site and I will be looking at other recommendations from the staff. It is also great that they have a BYOB so I would recommend taking a group of friends to order they combo sets while enjoying your wine or beers.“

Typical Chinese takeout spot with a pretty standard menu. They have a great lunch deal during the week where you get an entree and either a soup or soda for like $10.

I’ve tried a bunch of things here and have never been disappointed. Portions are a good size and I usually have leftovers.“

“I was looking for roast crispy duck. I didn't want to go to Chinatown because its gotten rundown, yucky traffic, expensive parking and horrible SEPTA. I decided to stay in my neighborhood so I could walk. I worried about it being expensive. Chestnut Hill is high end and the restaurant looked pricey. What a WONDERFUL SURPRISE! I was a solo table but still treated like a queen with lots of servers checking in, giving water and smiling. The roast duck in black bean sauce on the cast iron plate was SCRUMPTIOUS. It comes with a healthy side of white rice and delicate, flavorful bok choi. The skin was crispy yet NOT oily or greasy. The CHUNKS of tender duck meat were excellent. The sauce was thick, savory and yummy. FOODGASM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The portion was so healthy that I was able to take a container home for lunch the next day. Then I ordered the Mudslide ice cream pie for dessert. PERFECTION. Dense, creamy, sweet but not cloying with nut accents, fresh strawberries and cream as garnish. Cool treat on a humid Summer night. When the bill came, I was shocked that it was less than $40. I did not order a cocktail because I wanted to concentrate on the food. I gave them a big tip and said I am absolutely returning. I am also addicted to their spring rolls too. Two perfect crunchy flaky rolls filled with a balanced combination of shrimp, cheese, and cabbage that you can dip in duck sauce or mustard or just enjoy plain.“

“This is the definitive takeout Chinese American fast food joint. Unlike others in the area, it's not a franchised place and the chicken actually has chicken in it and not a processed chicken tasting substitute. After a 15 minute drive home, everything was still too hot to eat. Well done!“

“I have been in the general area most of my life but bought a home about half a mile from this place about 9 years ago. I had given up hope in finding a local Chinese takeout when I accidentally found New Hong Kong. I was really craving Chinese and I was really nervous because I was broke !! lol! But, I knew it would last a couple of days so I splurged. I got the fried dumplings, crab Rangoon and sesame chicken with lo mein instead of rice combo for $26. Generous portions but still skeptical. I got it home and it looked so good. Tasted delicious!! I was pleasantly surprised and it was so good I even called them to compliment them , which I never do! The only complaint I have is the amount of filling in the dumplings was not enough. I mean noticeably empty. The dumpling itself was light and airy and made me wonder uf they used wonton wrappers ( pre made) but still good just not nearly enough filling. The dumpling sauce was different as well and not something I cared for. It was not sweet it was extremely spicy. But, I now have a go to and highly recommend!“

“I am closing in on 40 and have been coming to this restaurant since I was a small child, some of my earliest memories are family dinners at Da Chen. The staff here are amazing— kind, attentive, helpful, and generous. Their house made duck sauce and crispy fried wonton chips ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD. Do not sleep on them if you only ever order take-out! You receive the crispy wonton chips with any soup order, but you have to ask for their homemade duck sauce on the side (costs like 25¢ iirc)!!! My favorite foods from here are: wonton soup, their complimentary jasmine tea, shrimp toast, beef & broccoli, sweet & sour chicken, general tso’s chicken, pork fried rice, and the bao bao platter (it’s such a fun treat eating this for dine-in). You will always receive the same quality service and food here, and somehow over the years it’s even gotten better!
