“The place is amazing but they continue to raise prices.
Stew chicken is 25$ and it’s not a huge container in my opinion to be charging that much.
I normally get the oxtail dinner, but my most recent time the oxtail was so small and that dinner alone is 30$ which is understood. But the cut should’ve been bigger . You can get a full bag of about 20 oxtail from Superfresh for the same price.
I will continue to support but the prices are alittle out of term.“

“Was walking by and saw A&J Caribbean Taste. I just had to go in and see what they had. It was like home! They had a wide range of food and I was so excited I asked for a sample of it all lol. DELICIOUS. Further, it was super generous of the server to accommodate my request. My favorite was the oxtail though all dishes were delicious. If you're missing GOOOOD Caribbean food and want a variety - and not have to wait for food preparation - this is a must visit. Compliments to the chef. “I had heard from my son and a friend about this restaurant and decided to check it out, with a friend. I ordered the fried chicken wings, candied yams, collards and Mac & cheese. My friend had the rasta pasta and j*** chicken. everything was delicious. We will be returning to sample more dishes.“

“I'm not from NJ, but I accidentally drove 40 mns to this place because I was craving haitian food. All I can say is I was not disappointed!
It started with their customer service, because when I realized how far it was and wanted to cancel, they offered to drive it to me, which I declined but was nice of them nonetheless.
The food was fresh, super delicious and on the large order, they give you enough food to feed you twice. The macaroni salad was great, duri djondjon was awesome and the Tasso kabrit was excellent. If you're in Irvington or close by, this is one spot that I'd definitely recommend!“

“I know that Irvington definitely is a stop everytime I am in NY,NY and NJ because of Big G Jamaican. It’s the best feel to dine here as it’s like eating home. Dig the vibe; folks outdoor chillin, plenty of seats inside and man that jerk sauce be ? ? that oxtail melts in your mouth!! The restaurant and kitchen area are very clean and tidy. I purchased the stewed chicken and stewed beef for myself and my husband; we both enjoyed our meals very much. “I was very excited when Golden Krust opened in Plainfield. My job is not even 3 minutes away! Prior to this, the closest one was in Union which is substantially further.

I was here opening week and have come and gone close to 10 times since then. The food is extremely consistent as is any Golden Krust and the portions are always excellent. The oxtail can be expensive but that just comes with the territory. As with any Jamaican food, you will find some bones in the meat, eat with caution and chew softly.

There's a drive through here, which I think is new to the franchise? A few times I've ordered through there and either I was left hanging at the speaker system for an extended period of time, or they've told me to come in.....which defeats the purpose of a drive through. Do they not like taking orders over the comm system?

Regardless, I've only gone inside since then. Perhaps they've straightened up the ordering system. It's not going to stop me from coming here though.

I'll be back many more times and I've brought a few coworkers on multiple occasion and I'm sure they'll be joining me as well.

“I have been eating here for a little under a year and the food has never disappointed me favorite is the curry, goat, rice and peas, cabbage and plantain. However, I have tried the fried chicken red pea soup , jerk, chicken, oxtails, curry chicken, beef patty. Regardless, what you pick you’re gonna find chunks of ginger in it, so be careful as you eat some meals are spicier than others, but all are very flavorful in my opinion. I am hoping in the future to try the salmon option when they have a fish fry in the summer. I personally do not like any Jamaican restaurants, macaroni, and cheese, so I have not tried their version at all, nor have I tried the typical African-American sides like collard greens, candied yams, and so forth. I stick to the typical jamaican options for sides. I see signs for roti too never tried that yet . Rank the atmosphere three out of five because the neighborhood is a bit rough know in the area so be mindful of limitations on parking and people randomly standing on the side walk.“
