“This is our go-to spot for takeout night, flavors are just incredible every single time. Even on delivery food is always piping hot, ready in 30 mins, and there’s never been an order mistake. The only challenge is trying not to cram as many bites into your mouth as humanly possible.“

“Amazing food! Amazing service! Amazing place! From the moment we walked in we were greeted by such a good energy and warmth. They were very accomodating and attentive. We ordered alot of food, and they brought an additional table for our family of 5 so that we could comfortably layout everything we ordered. The food came unbelievably fast, and when it did - it was TO DIE FOR! The flavors were so fresh and delicious. We will be back on our next visit to NYC!“

“We have eaten at Jalwa twice in recent months, and most certainly will be doing so again whenever we find ourselves in or near Montclair. Though I've never been to India, I have been a fan of Indian cuisines since I first tried them in the 1970s, and have eaten at many excellent Indian restaurants. None has pleased me more than Jalwa. The food is both traditional and creative, lovingly and carefully prepared. Portions are substantial. Spicing is happily adjusted to taste, so those like me who want their hot and spicy dishes very spicy can get it, while those who prefer less heat can get that, too. Our vegetarian daughter loves the wide selection of beautifully prepared vegetarian dishes. Naan breads and roti are outstanding. We have not tried anything that we have not loved, but among the standouts for me are the samosas -- both the traditional and the "creative" ones we've tried -- as well as the delicious fried spinach appetizer, Palak Chaat; the Dal Jalwa (a delectable house specialty lentil dish); and the Achari Chicken Tikka, which I love. Service is attentive but not intrusive, and the owner is actively involved in making sure that everything goes well. My only regret is that Jalwa does not have a branch near where we live in MA, because we'd be regulars there if they did.“

“Four of us had a great experience having dinner at this authentic Indian restaurant. We all enjoyed foods and drinks and were impressed by the welcoming staff; I was thirsty after a day of excursion and glad that they constantly came and poured water into my glass. My friend’s biryani served in a pot covered by naan was interesting and would love to try it and other dishes (wonderful smell from other tables too) in the future. Even had a surprise belated birthday cake on the house, and this has become my new favorite place in the city.“

“We'd been eyeing this place for a while, but never visited until the recent holidays. We got there early on a weeknight, maybe around 6, and there was already a decent amount of tables filled - and by the time we left, it was lively. I was pleasantly surprised - this is decent Indian food for a random restaurant in a half empty strip mall in Secaucus. The portions are huge! We had a lot of leftovers. I would say that some of the dishes could use more masala and heat. For example, I probably wouldn't order a dosa from here again (the sambhar was bland), but the curry dishes and apps were good. Service wasn't anything over the top, but average for an Indian restaurant. We'll definitely be back.“

“It's a typical eat in fast food place. Few tables only. The food I have tried from here is the Butter Chicken Rive Bowl and the Tandoori Chicken Rice Bowl and love them. You can eat it all but then feel sorry cause it is filling. I normally leave half for the next day or split one for me and the wife and we good for dinner. Prices are acceptable for the amount of food. Would be nice to find some $5 off coupons....(Fluffies hint hint....)Parking: It is a small shopping center with parking at front and usually can find a spot. There is more around back.Wheelchair accessibility: It is street level so should be no issues for wheelchair users.“

“Absolutely perfect meal here at Bombay Chowk. It was our first visit here and there will be many more. We had the tandoori broccoli, the egg appetizer, crab curry and salmon curry. All were delicious! The garlic naan was exceptional and the rice was flavorful. The owner made the best suggestions so if you have no allergies just leave the menu up to him! Lovely ambiance, fun music and super friendly service. The special dessert was also a wonderful end to the meal. Can’t wait to try more suggestions of his in the future. Highly recommended!“
“This is the BEST INDIAN RESTAURANT IN NYC!Update:I went in April 2022 for a live music event with Obasi as the performer. It was a great vibe. The chicken samosas and vegetable fritters were delicious. Perfectly flavorful, crispy and flaky. The Saag Paneer was absolutely amazing. The Spinach was not soggy. It was tasty and the cheese was not overwhelming in flavor or overall within the dish. The rice was fluffy and wonderful with the garlic naan.Go for live music Mondays - 6:30pm to 10pm. They feature different artists check out Eventbrite for details.Enjoy.Original review:I tried so many of their menu items. The chicken samosa was amazing! The batter was flaky and deliciously paired with the perfectly seasoned chicken inside. Every bite was amazing. The shammi kebab was intensely but wonderfully seasoned with mint and spices. The achari chicken tikka was delicious! The chicken was tender, juicy and once again, perfectly seasoned.I am not usually a fan of shrimp and rarely order it when eating out.The shrimp balchoa had such a great flavor profile! The shrimp was not chewy and covered in a tasty sauce. The garlic naan was soft with crispy edges. So delicious. The sharifa kheeDessert: Gulab Jamun Malai was a soft, warm, fluffy, delicious mouth feel. The shariga kheer was good. The almonds, rose essence and creamy rice was just sweet enough and served with a chocolate wafer stick that was a great contrast and added more texture. We sat outside, drank ate and laughed for hours. The restaurant staff was very welcoming and informative. If you are in the mood for delicious, authentic Indian food, I highly recommend Ashoka on 1718 2nd Avenue!“

“After being in Hackensack for a while and trying out all the Indian restaurants in the neighboring areas, this place is amazing in terms of the ambiance and food. The food here reminds me of India (only if you order it spicy). This has become my go to spot.“

“Please DO NOT use Doordash as your delivery option. Twice I did not receive my order ( puri aloo) and the delivery person showed it as delivered.Ofcourse Doordash refunded my money. But it is very disappointing to keep waiting for your order to realize that you will never get it.“

“I really liked the Assamese pork dumplings as well as the smoked eggplant bharta, they were excellent. Everything that followed after these two were very good but not mind blowing. The sago dessert I forgot to take a photo of was not good: the sago wasn’t chewy and just tasted like it wasn’t cooked well. The restaurant staff was kind to change the dessert selection.“

“I order Togo from here and the food is always delicious! Samosas, garlic naan, and shrimp tandoor are always my go to and it hits every time. The inside of this restaurant seems cute for a little night out in the neighborhood (I’ve just never ate in). The staff are always pleasant and the food is prepared pretty fast!“

“My partner and I have dined in here twice because we love the food so much. The Karagi Gosht is a MUST. I’m iffy about lamb but this meat was so soft and flavorful, it’s become a new favorite. Chicken biryani and spinach paneer are great too.“

“Haven't been here in several months, but had dinner tonight. It was even better than I remembered. Owner Vikram remembered me and was so friendly as always. The place is now bustling with guests! I recommend you make a reservation now! Not sure if they have a new chef but the curries are even more savory and the portions remain very generous and ingredients fresh as always. I need to come back more often. Definitely the best Indian restaurant in the area! Easy parking, friendly service, excellent food, beautiful ambience. If you haven't tried it, you're missing out!“

“No offense intended. Food is excellent; however I'm not pleased with the convenience fee ($1.50) and carryout fee ($1.50)... what is up with that? So let me get this straight, you're going to charge me $1.50 to pack up an order which, by no option, is carryout because you're not a sit down restaurant? This is on top of the 3.5% credit card surcharge, and taxes. Not cool.Let's finish with the pricing of Bombay's menu. You're seriously getting outta hand with the pricing... pretty soon you'll price every dish in the mid $30 range. It's easy to drop $100 on two people for little in the quantity of food. This is why I decreased my patronage with you; but who cares about one person. Thanks“
