“In my experience, this is the best Indian restaurant hands-down journal Square. I recently moved to Harrison and I will still come to journal Square to get Indian food from here. I don’t know what it is but their chicken is the best almost every dish is just amazing. I haven’t tried every dish, so can’t really comment on every single one, but I’ve never been disappointed. I’ve dined in and have taken out. The quality is so good here I swear lol“

“The food was so delicious (that salad and fish in lettuce wraps were my favorite) and also beautiful. Loved the ambiance and the cocktails too! Definitely coming back to try the rest of the menu.“

“One of the best Indian restaurants in NYC and a big step up from the sister restaurant Semma. The food here is delicious, satisfying, with decent portions and excellent presentation. The food is great, and it’s a special experience. Staff are friendly, the service is great. The cocktails are presented very nicely, but nothing wowed us. I’m here for the food and the service - and I couldnt be happier with that!“

“After eating so much (pizza etc )we needed to eat something different, spicy and booked this gem,as it as near to our hotel. It was also our 40th wedding anniversary. We are from U.K. This was amazing perfectly cooked tasty home made authentic Indian cuisine. We had mocktails ( lavender was refreshing ). The tandoori lamb chops x4 were full meat seasoned beautifully and delicious. All other sides perfect too. Now in U.K. we hate restaurant Indian puddings they are usually bought in and awful/failure. After finding out the chef is the owner and a recipient Michelin star we were convinced to stay, try and this was the first time we have had authentic home made puddings; try Kulfi with rose water & also Indian rice pudding. The whole meal was exceptional great value and we will recommend this restaurant to anyone else visiting New York. Easy to find off Times Square /Broadway. Thanks for the rendition “ congratulations “ for our 40th. You are great ! A little gem of authenticity in big New York !“

“Absolutely amazing meal! Was recommended to us by a friend, and we recommend it to you. A quick walk from our Broadway show, the meal was a perfect night cap. The mango margaritas were the perfect combo of sweet and spice; the cauliflower appetizer was bold and perfectly crunchy; the aloo gobi was wonderfully catered to our spice level and still full of flavor; the flaan was to die for. Resturant manager Rakesh Arban did an awesome job taking care of us. The atmosphere included colorful decor, mellow ambiance, and easy to talk to one another despite a somewhat full resturant.
There are stairs down to the entrance door. There are two single stall restrooms. The price was very reasonable given it's location and portion sizes.“

“An excellent hidden gem in the midst of busy midtown. A touch of mystery behind velvet curtains where felt red booth couches await in an intimate and welcoming atmosphere. The set up is chic and not cluttered with tables well spaced for the quiet work lunch. We went for restaurant week, and had the chicken tandoori starter which was perfectly spiced and delicious, followed by lamb curry which was tender, soaked in flavour, accompanied by garlic naan and rice. Staff are friendly and service oriented, in lusing the host. I cannot fault anything. Will definitely make this a regular spot to try the other items on the menu.“

“I was pleasantly surprised with the great meal I had here. I would give it 5 stars but one of appetizers was below par (pani puri)but the rest of the dishes were excellent. The Hoth paan drink was super tasty!! Worth going to even though a tad expensive but it’s NYC!“

“When I walked in the restaurant the delicious aromas let me know I made a good choice. The food was absolutely amazing with vegan/vegetarian options and even a complimentary gluten free appetizer. The staff was welcoming and the service great. The prices were reasonable, but the best part was the delicious food!!“

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My wife, our dog, and I came in for dinner and had an amazing experience from start to finish! The service was exceptional, and the owner was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and kind.
We ordered the chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, mango lassi, garlic & chili naan vegetable and chicken samosas, gulab jamun, and even received a delicious rice pudding on the house. Everything was absolutely phenomenal. Honestly, the food was so good that I forgot to take pictures before digging in!
The flavors were incredible, the portions were generous, and every dish was made with care. I walked out feeling like I had gained 10 pounds—but it was worth every bite!
10/10 experience. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for amazing food and outstanding hospitality. ❤️🍽️ #theyarepetfriendly 🐶“

“One of the best meals I’ve had out in a long time. Everything here from the service to the ambience was amazing! For appetizers we had the biyebarir fish fry and the aloo chaat, both were spicy but we found ourselves wanting more. The entrees stepped it up a notch with the prawn malai kari and the kosha mangshu which were 100% worth coming back for. Our server Zaraith was extremely knowledgeable and guided us through the entire meal and the manager Joy was very hospitable. Will be back soon for sure, thank you Unapologetic for the experience!“

“Ate here today with friends. We got the cauliflower and achari chicken kebabs as apps. The cauliflower was meh but the chicken was excellent. Great pickled flavor and well cooked. I got the teekan murg, another friend got the jackfruit Biryani, and the third got lamb saag. The teekan marg was basically chicken cooked in a tomato-based spicy sauce that tasted like it featured scotch bonnets. It was advertised as Caribbean influenced. It was incredible! Very spicy (spicier than any Indian food I’ve had in NYC except the Brick Lane phaal—which is specifically cooked for a spicy food eating challenge) but also very peppery and great. The jackfruit biryani was also great—the jackfruit served its purpose well as a meat substitute. The saag was fine—not amazing but totally good. Highly recommended!“

“I had my birthday party with Passerine and it was incredible! The event coordinator McQueenie, all the waitstaff, our server Catie, the host and sommelier, every single person was absolutely amazing. Some of the best service I have ever received and the food was divine.
I highly recommend the aloo dumplings and cabbage. They surprised me the most. The cook on all the meat was beyond perfect. The beef melted in my mouth and the chicken was perfectly tender. Chef Shetty is a genius. We had a 3 course prix fixe and they printed custom menus for me with my name in the header! That was a lovely souvenir for us to take home. Every dish was 10/10. Thank you Passerine for the best birthday!
Passerine is vegetarian and halal friendly. They also have mocktails and teas for those that don't drink!“

“I heard that it’s really hard to get reservations but I luckily snag one. My fav appetizer is the shrimp. The railway chicken curry is the best dish. I was disappointed with roasted pineapple, nothing special. The rose ice cream is the highlight!“

“Rudra Indian Bistro on Cedar Lane is authentic as it gets. We have been here so many times and will always keep coming back because the food is high quality, healthy, and very delicious. We always start with the House Salad which is a great way to begin your meal. The Tandoori chicken is so juicy and succulent, and the Lamb Korma is one of our favorites. I highly recommend Rudra Indian Bistro! One of the best restaurants of Teaneck...“

“Went for the Holi lunch. The food was really amazing—hats off to the chef for such delicious dishes. However, the lunch service was not well managed. We were asked to arrive a little early so everyone could start lunch at 1 pm, but the food was served about 40 minutes late. We had to wait for quite a long time, which was disappointing.
It would have been much better if some snacks or even the mango lassi (which was part of the lunch) had been served when guests arrived so that people didn’t have to stay hungry while waiting for the food.
The food quality was excellent, but improving service, management, and punctuality would make the overall experience truly amazing. 😊“

“Had dinner here with a friend and really enjoyed the meal. Saag Panner and chicken Korma were especially terrific. We ordered on appetizer that wasn’t what we expected and the owner and the chef came over and explained the dish and suggested an alternative which they gladly swapped out. Service was terrific. Personal and attentive. Definitely recommended.“

“I ordered the chicken masala and veggie biryani. Chicken masala was Great! There was an Indian spice in the veggie biryani that I never had it before. The manager/owner was very nice/understanding and replaced my veggie order with a lamb dish which I prefer. I will definitely dine in and order for delivery , and can't wait to try other dishes. “From Texas With LOVE for DHANIA! I am from TX where South Asian food is in competition to be better. 6 ****** Rating, Why? I am an Expert of Bengali/Indian/Pakistani food due to my involvement to provide bi-weekly food to our congregations of up to 500 members. Our food is mainly Bengali/Indian/Pakistani dishes and some outside items like salads/sweets etc. I mostly cook the main dishes MYSELF. During my visit to NY I dined in few restaurants. I never ate in any NY restaurants before. Dera rest: C+; 3 star Lahore rest: B-; 3.5 star Kababish: C-; 2 star Alibaba Kabab near Bufalo: B+; 4 star Few fast-food restaurants. Now the Main subject DHANIA restaurant, A++; 6 Star Restaurant is Very Clean, Nice atmosphere. Food came in reasonable time. If food comes quickly then thats not good for S. Asian food. Cauliflower was fantastic! Samosas were very good! Chatney awesome. Chicken Tikka was great! Biriyani & butter chicken was Excellent! Naan was fine & soft! Not hard or burned as some other places. Since I ordered catering for my congregation from many restaurants in Houston, I became an expert in S. Asian food. Dhania really surpassed my expectations and surprised me in NY. Wish them the best. Keep serving the best food!“
