“Busy spot with quick and easy service. Fun range in cocktails, crab fried rice is delicious and they had pork cheeks (served with thai chili slices and ginger, which was perfect), which is one of my favorite appetizers.

“You know where to go when you miss your Asian dish. I went to Wondee Siam after my cruise trip to South America. If you’re Thai, they have special menu that definitely eliminate your homesick immediately.
I ordered Kangsom which is simply the red curry soup with fish paste. Kangsom’s soup is light (not creamy) but packed with very tiny pieces of fish. The taste is pretty similar to kimchi soup. Hot, sour and spicy. They served Kangsom with shrimps and Thai fried omelette. Went so well with white Jasmine rice. If you like Kimchi soup or Kimchi Jjigae, you will love this dish!
The staff is super friendly. They told me they had Thai milk tea as well. How can I miss it! I ordered a to-go and went to sit in the nice area very close to Wondee.“

“The Thai food and service was excellent! I got the green curry with tofu and the tofu texture was perfect, and medium spicy kicks your butt just enough. But you might sweat a little. Worth it. Cocktails are you, and the fried chicken bites are a great share. Papaya salad is really good too! Definitely plan to come back! Call if you prefer to make a reservation and secure a table.“

“I came here because of their amazing 4.9 rating on Google Maps, however, I was not amazed by their food. I got curry puffs to start my dinner. The puffs were nice and flavorful. The outside was light and flaky, and the insides were well seasoned with nice texture. The sauce came with was too sweet to my liking. Personally I prefer eating it as it is. I pad see ew with shrimp and added beef($5). The flavor was nice and the shrimp was fresh and clean. However, the beef wasn’t so good especially when I paid $5 extra for them. It was too dry and chewy.
Overall, it’s a standard Thai restaurant. The food was nice but nothing special about it.“

“Seriously one of the best Thai restaurants in Hell’s Kitchen. The place is small, but the flavors they offer pack a big punch.
The seafood pad Thai, kangkung, and shrimp eggplant dishes were all the rage. I enjoyed the crispness of the kangkung, the umami from the eggplant, and the tenderness of mussels and squid in their pad Thai. I can’t wait to come back and try some more of their delicious offerings.
The duck curry (I think this was a panang base) and the som tum was so flavorful and was packed with so much decadence. I really appreciated how ThongLor highlighted produce typically found in Thai cuisine, and didn’t skimp out on the bamboo shoot. They also added pineapple in their curry, which isn’t traditional of Thai cuisine but really added some acid to the dish which made it so balanced.
We had a bua loi for dessert and I’ll be honest, it wasn’t the best one I’ve had, but it still felt like a warm hug and a nice palate cleanser for the meal. I wish that the bua loi had more of a thicker coconut consistency, and that the taro balls weren’t as stuck together so it was easy to pick up. That being said, it was still a great end to our wonderful meal.
Would I come back again? Absolutely. I highly recommend coming to this place with no more than 4 people. Seating is limited in the space so bring 3 of your closest friends and try everything on the menu.“

“Midtown, You’ve Been Holding Out on Us
We stumbled into BKK last night for a pre-concert dinner before seeing the Orchestra of St. Luke’s at Carnegie Hall. Total last-minute booking because our original plans fell through and thank god they did, because this ended up being one of the most unexpectedly excellent Thai meals we’ve had in the city.
This stretch of 56th Street is usually a culinary dead zone, the kind of place you go for proximity, not pleasure, so finding something this good felt like cheating the system. The décor was surprisingly polished, almost transporting. It reminded us of the kind of sleek, design-forward restaurants you’d see in Bangkok where every detail, down to the plates and glassware, feels intentional.
We started with their signature shrimp donuts, and honestly, whoever came up with these deserves a raise. Fried appetizers tend to live and die by oil temperature and salt, but these were next-level: crisp, caramel-tinged crust, almost like a hint of molasses, and somehow still light. Don’t sleep on them.
The papaya salad with jumbo shrimp was bright and refreshing though I did ask for ‘Thai spicy’ and clearly got the “he’s can’t be serious, don’t hurt him” version. Next time I’ll insist.
For my main, I ordered the half roasted chicken, which was impressively tender, both white and dark meat perfectly done, no dryness in sight. It came with these small pickles that were so well balanced I could’ve eaten them as a side dish on their own. The sticky rice it came with was also a nice touch just what you want to chase every bite with.
My husband had the Pad See Ew with chicken and made a point to also say how juicy the chicken was which, let’s be real, almost never happens with chicken breast. His only critique: could’ve used a little more wok hei, that smoky char you want from a good stir-fry, but otherwise it hit all the right notes.
Dessert time: the Thai Iced Tea Panna Cotta was an absolute standout rich, aromatic, and not cloyingly sweet. Whoever decided to make Thai tea into a panna cotta deserves applause. The coconut ice cream with shaved salted egg on top was clever and generous in portion. The coconut flavor could’ve been stronger, but as someone who also loves plain vanilla, I didn’t mind at all.
Cocktails? Also excellent. I had the Sticky Situation (Earl Grey, citrus, something else I can’t remember but it worked). My husband had another equally creative one — strong, balanced, and beautifully presented.
All in all, BKK feels like the rare Midtown Thai restaurant that isn’t just going through the motions. It’s thoughtful, delicious, and clearly run by people who care about flavor and design in equal measure. I just hope they don’t water things down over time to cater to diners whose idea of Thai food stops at pad thai and spring rolls.
We’ll definitely be back preferably before another concert, but honestly, this place is reason enough for a special trip on its own.“

“It was me and my best friends first time coming here. We wanted Thai food and most places closed early. We were automatically greeted by Pisha (not sure how to spell her name I apologize) she was very welcoming and sat us at a table quickly and took care of us right away. She also helped us choose what to order and accommodated our dish based off our preference. The food came out pretty quickly, very fresh, delicious and great portion. Everything was seasoned so well. We will definitely come back again. We ordered the spring rolls, pad Thai noodles and Thai fried rice with chicken. We highly recommend trying this restaurant! Especially if it is your first time having Thai food 🙂“

“I gave this place five stars for one reason only: I wanted the people to read my review. If I gave one star, the review would be pushed back to the end. My review... Worst food we ever had in our lives!! Bland and expensive. It came with none of the toppings we ordered!! Tasteless and dry. I suspect the food was kept in the heat for most of the day. STAY AWAY FROM THIS S...HOLE!!!! It should be reported and closed. I can only imagine the unsanitary conditions of the place. Restaurants that do not care about the quality of their products do not care about hygiene.“

“I was recommended the beef noodle soup and that was very tasty, as well as my friend's pad kra pow. I would say that the drunken noodle did lack a bit of flavor, though. “Beautiful restaurant on the third floor of The Shops at Columbus Circle. We were not seated near a window but if you can try to sit there, beautiful views. We had a few appetizers and all were good. Beef satay was tender and not overpowered with the marinade. Pancakes were different than expected but had slightly crispy edges and tender inside and the crab (probably wrong term but I thought of it as crab salad) was bright and a refreshing counterpoint to the pancake. Black sticky rice lived up to its name. Mild flavor but good. Crispy pork rolls were good but least favorite for us. Very nice crunch but not much flavor. The only slight downside was the service. We were served water as soon as we were seated but waited more than 10 minutes to have a server come over and ask if we wanted a cocktail. Definitely busy lively restaurant worth trying for good Thai food jn an upscale atmosphere.“

“A delicious Thai experience! The food is soulful and comforting.
Starting with drinks - the Thai iced tea was made with a perfect ratio, so it wasn’t too sweet, and it was refreshingly fragrant.
The lychee martini was aromatic, and strong.
Anytime I see curry puffs on a menu, it’s an immediate must, and these were definitely worth a try. The dough was crispy on the outside, without being greasy, and the filling was very flavorful.
Moving on to the sticky rice with mango. The ripe mango was juicy and sweet which complimented the glutinous rice perfectly.
The waiter suggested the pad thai, one of their most popular dishes, and after trying it I understood why. I also appreciate that you could choose your spice level.
I couldn’t leave without having my favorite curry, Massamon, the spices married to create a piquant dish. I never had avocado served on top of hot curry, but instead of the texture throwing me off I actually enjoyed the creamy aspect. The shrimp was fresh, and cooked well. My only complaint would be that the potatoes were severely undercooked, which was disappointing because I love a soft potato that has soaked up the curry.
Can’t wait to be back and try more dishes:)“

“I recently ordered takeout from Mrs. A Thai near 95th Street, and overall, it was a fantastic experience. The food was packed well, still warm when I got to it, and filled with vibrant flavors that truly showcased Thai cuisine.
The Som Tum salad was an absolute winner crisp, refreshing shredded green papaya tossed with chili, lime, garlic, fish sauce, and a touch of palm sugar. The balance of sweet, sour, spicy, and salty flavors was spot on, making each bite incredibly satisfying.
The Tom Yum soup was another highlight. The broth was rich and aromatic, infused with lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, galangal, chili, and fish sauce. The combination of tangy lime juice and the warmth of Thai chilies gave it just the right amount of heat, making it both comforting and invigorating.
I also tried the Mee Kati, which featured thin rice noodles coated in a creamy, slightly tangy coconut tamarind sauce. The dish was loaded with scallions, bean sprouts, red onion, tofu, and egg, creating a great mix of textures. While I enjoyed it, I found myself wishing it had a bit more spice and a deeper, more robust flavor to make the sauce stand out.
The only disappointment was the roti and curry. The roti lacked the flaky, buttery texture I was hoping for, and the curry itself was a bit bland, missing the rich, aromatic depth I usually expect from Thai curries.
Despite that, the takeout experience was great, and I will definitely be back for the Som Tum, Tom Yum, and Mee Kati—maybe next time, I’ll ask for an extra spice kick!“

“When my fiancée's Thai food craving hit, we decided to break from our usual routine and try SLA Thai for the first time. Ordering take out through DoorDash, we went with two noodle dishes and a classic dessert to get a proper taste of their offerings.
My fiancée chose the Pad Kemao, a flat noodle dish with shrimp and eggplant. While she found it satisfying with well-cooked shrimp and pleasant eggplant texture, it didn't quite reach the heights of her favorite version from Papa Thai in Bloomfield. The flavors were good but somewhat muted compared to what she's used to, decent but not remarkable enough to dethrone her go-to spot.
I opted for the Pad See Ew and was pleasantly surprised despite an initial strong fishy aroma when opening the container (likely from oyster or fish sauce). The first bite won me over with fresh, perfectly chewy noodles and that great balance of savory and slightly sweet flavors Thai food does so well. My only real complaint was the complete lack of spice, a real miss since DoorDash didn't offer spice level customization for this order. Next time I'll definitely call ahead to request some heat, because what's Thai food without a little kick?
For dessert we tried the Sweet Mango Sticky Rice, which my mango-loving fiancée was especially excited about. The coconut flavor in the rice was spot on, rich and aromatic. Although some of the rice was disappointingly dry and hard, like it had been sitting for a while. The saving grace was the perfectly ripe, sweet mango that she devoured happily. I found it a bit too sugary for my taste, but then again, I'm not the mango enthusiast in this relationship. It's a dessert that would satisfy anyone with a serious sweet tooth, assuming the rice comes out fresher next time.
Overall, SLA Thai delivered a solid takeout experience with some clear highlights (that Pad See Ew in particular) and a few areas for improvement. The noodle dishes showed good technique with fresh ingredients, though the inability to specify spice levels through DoorDash was frustrating.
While it didn't surpass our favorite Thai spot, it's definitely a place we'd order from again - though next time I'll be calling ahead to request spice adjustments and maybe crossing my fingers for better-executed sticky rice. For a first try, it was promising enough that we'd give them another shot when we're in the mood for something different.“

“Great quick little corner restaurant! The service was so fast and friendly! Didn't have to ask for refills, or extra napkins and when the food came out they even moved tables to give us a bit more room! Now the food and drink were so delicious for amazing prices! Happy Hour is 11:30 to 6:30 with $8 cocktails, $6 wine, and $5 beer and the cocktails were not watered-down either! The drinks were perfectly crafted and went down so smooth. Now onto the appetizers and entrees. Everything came out very quickly and was so flavorful! I did ask for the pork dish to be extra spicy and in my opinion it was not spicy. Maybe mild but for what I expect it was tame. Still full of flavor though! The roti was perfectly crisp and fluffy and the lettuce wraps were a great starter light refreshing, and the dips had the perfect combination of sweet, salty, peanut, and umami. Highly recommend this sit down joint if you're around the area!“

“I have ate at Tom Yum Koong for quite some time, almost since the time I was 15 years old. I always grabbed a bite here after tutoring and extensive study hours.
After graduating, I am practically a regular now and have tried at least everything on the menu except for the chef's specials and several appetizers. I'm sure they are great too and worth sharing as a family.
For what it's worth, the owner, Anne is a wonderful person. She is enthusiastic about her culture, her dishes, and everything she provides to her customers is simply the best. Though, the food can be heavy and forced me to go into deep food comas at times! In fact, I was so hungry one time that I ordered a Pad Thai with extra noodles! It was crazy, but the consistency and use of aromatics, as well as sauce was amazing.
For starters of Thai cusine, I recommend anything from their lunch special. The salad, soup, and entree was worth it. I suppose that the portion is less than their dinners, but mind you, everything tasted delicious! However, the only thing I'd say is that the food has gotten expensive. It makes sense, so be very careful of ordering here like I did.
As for tipping, it is required here for sit-down and encouraged for takeout. I tend to eat here alone, and there's no shame in that, but I always tend to tip around $2-3. The restaurant does not do any Uber, Door dash, or anything of the like, so if you order, you'd need to pick it up yourself after calling the store, or wait until at least 5pm and call them for delivery. They accept either cash or card, but if it's card, you'd need to tell them your card information and the amount to tip.
Regardless, Tom Yum Koong is a great restaurant. Given how long I have been eating here, the owners treat me pretty much like family. I guess it's a good thing, but it's also probably because I always prefer eating here more than anywhere else!“
