“Cool story: There aren’t many people that can say they opened this restaurant. I was one of them. Along with Margarita , Oscar , Daniel, Natalie and Luigi. I specifically remember Luigi promoting a $1999 special For four cheese steaks;(remember this is over 10 years ago. )it was brutal, but I managed to master of the cheesecake technique and under five minutes lol. I also remember prepping all the pizzas in the morning when I tell you, the quality is the best in the area. I mean it. Grande cheese is what he used to use. I hope he still does.Family is what this place is about and amazing Italian food. I always remember Luigi and Natalie. She was an amazing mother to little children at the time -She knew seven languages and he knew quite a few himself lol.

“I ordered catering for our kitten rescue’s volunteer gathering for the wrong day and when I realized my mistake, I only had 30 minutes before the event started. I called the store in a panic! Primos rushed to get our order together in record time and I was at the event with our food only 20 minutes late. I couldn’t believe how kind they were. “This was one of our most memorable dinners of 2025 so far — everything we ordered was delicious.

We started with the marinated tomatoes with stracciatella and the focaccia, then had the Thai basil tagliatelle with crab and the breaded pork chop as mains, and finished with the corn brûlée and blueberry pâte à choux for dessert.

The marinated tomatoes with the focaccia were an excellent pairing, and the tagliatelle was a surprisingly delightful fusion — spicy, flavorful, and very well balanced. The pork chop was excellent too: juicy and flavorful, though slightly undercooked near the bone. The corn brûlée was fantastic, while the pâte à choux was the only dish that didn’t quite hit the mark.

Overall, the food was outstanding and the space was very cozy. Our only wish was for slightly better ventilation in the restaurant, but otherwise, it was an amazing dining experience.“

The service was amazing throughout the meal, I wish I got the servers name as he was really an incredibly friendly young man who clearly knew the menu very well. “We were able to take advantage of the $45 special. The caponata and bread were excellent as was the salad with walnuts and goat cheese. The fried calamari was cooked perfectly and the marinara sauce was delicious. My husband enjoyed the salmon and fiussile dish which was a very generous portion. Zuppe de pesce was chuck full of a good variety of seafood and a lot of spaghetti. The tiramisu was delicious. The gratis red wine was mediocre.“

My family was at home in Memphis making raviolas that same day my daughter and I were in Philadelphia. It was our first visit to your beautiful city. “My family had dinner at Albertinos today for my mom and husbands birthday. Because there was 9 of us they require a fix price meal for each person. This price includes an app, main, and dessert - anything on the menu. The service here is outstanding. The food is better than anywhere else in town, and for me- the best Italian I have ever had. Dinner for 9 of us took about three hours. To me, this is amazing. There was no rush. They made sure everything was perfect. We were able to relax and enjoy our time. We have been there two other times and have had the same waitress. The daughter of the owner (Jsut another plus). She is bubbly and kind and makes sure everyone has a great time. “It was an unforgettable dinner. The moment I stepped inside, I felt as if I had been invited to a close friend’s or family member’s home for a warm, intimate meal. The space is small, cozy, and wonderfully personal. The two chefs prepared and served each course with perfect timing, offering fresh, beautifully crafted dishes one after another without a single moment of dullness.

It was a joy not only to taste the food but also to watch the careful, thoughtful preparation behind every plate. The flavors were excellent, the progression of courses felt seamless, and I left with that perfect feeling of satisfied fullness.

There is no doubt that this restaurant fully deserves its Michelin one-star rating. A truly memorable dining experience.

The only thing I found disappointing was that, although I mentioned it was our wedding anniversary when making the reservation, nothing was acknowledged at all. The staff’s prepared guests’ birthday cakes, special party hats, cards and even a moment where the lights were turned off so everyone in the room could celebrate together. In contrast, our table didn’t receive even a simple mention of our anniversary.“

“Thank heavens for Colonial Beach Local Foodie’s referral. Meet a gentleman at Thousand Trails resort just outside of Colonial Beach Va. that had a thick Upstate NY accent. We preceded to reminisce about family in Upstate NY,, of course food rolled into the conversation,. That’s how I came across Nonna Lena’s Italian Cuisine. I stopped by the restaurant by myself a couple of later.. Thought I’d get a quick lunch fix. Wrong! My eyes nearly popped out of my head when I the chief my plate of Eggplant Parmesan. What a wonderful freshly made dinner (plus leftovers for 2 extra meals). The staff all were very friendly. Chiefly came out to see how I liked my meal. He shared some details about the newly open restaurant & homemade recipes, etc. He mentioned breakfast was also served and somehow in the conversation he decided to send me home with a sample of sausages & gravy along with my husbands meal. OMGoodness, the next day my breakfast was fantastic. Foodie’s note. Their food is prepared fresh from scratch daily😊. Don’t past by Colonial Beach Va. without dinning at Nonna Lena’s Italian several times.“
