“So I’ve lived in Salem most of my adult life, and I can confidently tell anyone reading this the food IS very good. Compared to other Chinese restaurants in Salem county Supior. Now the plexiglas can’t have customers feeling this is normal, and bc it’s not! This is the hood and better safe than sorry, so no judgment there. My MY ONLY issue, is they are way overpriced. $7.50 for 4 wings! But I know every restaurant is overpriced these days, so not exclusive to Welcomes. However, I’ve been a customer since the mid-90s, they were ALWAYS known for affordable good food… Still good food, but high priced in a sketchy neighborhood.“

“I'm picky about where I get things and as long as I have a say in where I go for Chinese food it's always here and has been for almost 25 years. It's not the best in the area, it's guaranteed best in the the state and most likely the best for the next 50 miles anyway outside of the delaware“

“Great Chinese food for the area. We were definitely pleasantly surprised. The beef on a stick was awesome. I did not like the cheesesteak egg roll or the egg drop wonton soup. Everything was either at or above par for Chinese food. We will more than likely return again. Egg roll was really good too. The crispy noodles were really great as a little starter. Our service was awesome, everyone was very friendly.“

“So I’ve been coming here for awhile years tbh so I watched the young girl from little to now she’s taking orders over the phone but now in present day the young lady who I believe is the daughter of the manager took my phone order and my friend asked for his rolls and beef on the stick to be cooked well
Done…but she didn’t write well done for only the rolls she actually typed over cooked/ burnt and not only did she write over cooked for the shrimp rolls and beef on the stick I ordered me shrimp egg foo young and yes she decided to write over cooked/burnt i never said that once…it was disappointing and just plain simple because I’ve spent lots of money here because typically this would never happen and I want to call the store and let them know but I won’t… I just won’t be going anymore I didn’t ask for shrimp
Egg foo young to be cooked well done only the rolls which is an option but for her too put overcooked is fine but don’t write that I want my shrimp egg foo young to be over cooked and I didn’t say that…letting her take the orders is not a good idea“

“Quick in and out, very simple to place an order over the phone. I love that the lady isnt overly nice if you know what I mean, shes very straight forward to the point. Great food. The crab rangoons are delicious and the chicken fried rice is a favorite of mine aswell.“

“I grew up near Gao Sheng and have been eating here my whole life. I’ve traveled all over the US and abroad, always trying Chinese food to get a taste of home—and nothing comes close to this place. The flavors, the consistency, the comfort… it’s unbeatable.

My go‑to order: Singaporean noodles (mild) and General Tso’s with chicken fried rice. Perfect every time. I usually dine in and swear the goldfish are the same ones from when I was a kid—it’s part of the charm.

The family that owns this restaurant has been serving the community for decades, and I’m genuinely grateful for them. No matter where I go, Gao Sheng will always be my Chinese food.

Pro tip: Singaporean noodles are on the menu as number 42 “Singapore Mei Fun”, (I think) —ready in about 10 minutes. Just ask for Singaporean noodles they know the deal.“
