“Poke Bowl in Hillsborough is much better. The poke bowl topping options are limited at Poké star. When you order online, you can only choose one or two, and at Poké bowl you can get as much as you want of any of the toppings. Poke star gave me what I guess is supposed to be sushi rice but it just looks like regular white rice to me. It’s not sticky. Also, the mixed greens consisted of lettuce and huge pieces of spinach with thick, long stems that they should have cut off before serving. Flavor of the tuna was ok. Only saw literally 2 sesame seeds, but the sauce was very good and the place was clean and people were nice. $20 for one protein plus avocado here and it’s $17 for the same at Poke Bowl.“

“We walked into this place last minute on a Friday night to celebrate my birthday since another sushi place had been unable to accommodate gf. We could not have stumbled upon a better experience! Elan at the sushi bar made us a custom omakase tasting all gluten free and so delicious. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and really created a one of a kind meal while making us feel special and taken care of. We ended up with about 15 different courses i believe all fabulous and ended with a special ice cream sushi dessert. “A group of us went for dinner on a Saturday night. The place was empty. Before we even had a chance to order, the owner came over and asked us who we were planning to vote for. Really?? He began talking politics. We were polite but he truly put a damper on our night out. “My wife and I had our wedding here a few weeks ago. We worked with Nicole throughout the entire process from touring the venue to the night of our event. Nicole was absolutely fantastic to work with. She was helpful, thorough and prompt in communication, and overall made the entire process easy and stress-free (rare when planning a wedding!).

The venue itself was perfect (we were on the Grand Ballroom side). The ceremony area outside was great because it was fully covered and sheltered from the weather. Even though it was pouring right before our ceremony, all the chairs that were set up were totally dry. The venue was able to provide a contingency in case the rain continued (which luckily it didn’t). They were proactive in preparing this and notifying us rather than us having to ask them for a rain plan, which we appreciated. The cocktail hour and reception ballroom areas were beautiful on their own and did not require much additional decoration. One thing our guests specifically highlighted on multiple occasions was that they appreciated being able to go outside and enjoy the patio area while still being able to watch and enjoy the reception program through the floor-to-ceiling windows. This is great for guests who have kids because the music can still be heard outside but at a much more comfortable level for children.

Amalia (bridal attendant) and Frank (maitre d’) were incredibly attentive and helpful on the day of the event. They made sure vendors got their questions answered, brought us food, checked in on us, and overall ensured that the event flowed well.

“We have been going here for our once a month dinner date for a few years now and are never dissatisfied. They are consistent, friendly to us every time, and quick! it is a BYOB establishment 30$ per person on weekends and $25 on weekdays will get you all you can eat from a menu that has salads, teriyaki choices, tempura choices, a host of apps, and all the sashimi, sushi rolls, and specialty rolls you can think of! My husband gets every appetizer on the menu but really likes the chicken teriyaki and fried shrimp dumplings. I go crazy for their shrimp and salmon sashimi and of course the classic US California roll. The few times we have not been able to finish a few pieces of sushi they have been understanding and not charged us, that being said we’ve seen many people order too much and get a charge. My main advice would be START SLOW. You can order as many times as you want and they are very quick to get the food to you. No need to start with a monster order and end up in a hole! I also recommend getting the hot tea (free refills all night) to help you eat more ! Finally if you are GF either pick up your own bottle at the nearby shoprite or bring one from your house they no longer offer GF soy sauce. My husband ops for spicy Mayo instead but you have to ask for it!“

“I was craving good Japanese food close to home so I went to Teriyaki 1. I got the Chicken Bento box with a Shrimp roll, Angry Dragon roll and a Cucumber and Avocado roll. It was absolutely delicious that was my first time trying the Angry Dragon, and I enjoyed it. My food was fresh and full of flavor. The only room for improvement is that the spring rolls that came with my Bento box was too oily, I had to blot it with a towel to absorb the oil. “I am writing in response to the review posted by Melanie De Gardnuer earlier today. I was present at the store as a customer buying dinner for my family at the time when she was there. The store manager I witnessed was purely professional and accommodating -- he delivered commendable service. The most "blasphemous" thing I witnessed was the manager holding open a plastic bag for her drink while the customer fumbled with her change; when she saw him doing so, she rudely questioned why, and he gently shared that it was for her drink. The fellow customer sat down with some of her food while waiting for the remainder, and began eating it in the seating area that had been shut down because of the pandemic. The manager never once raised his voice and very reasonably conveyed that the area was closed due to COVID-19 store policy, and that unfortunately, she was not supposed to eat there. The tantrum she threw at him in front of his employees was unacceptable and undeserved. Given that she threatened to write a Google review, I decided to check. The content is false and wholly 'Karen' behavior. Hope everyone is safe and well during this time.“
