“I have very fond memories here, it was like a little home from home for me while I was bi Atlantic for 6 years, working on the same block as the Pig There are lots of “Irish pubs” in the vicinity, although this is the only one that felt like a real pub in the UK rather than a novelty in New York Hopefully I will be back again one day! Thanks for great times when I was missing home 🇬🇧 xxx“

“This place throws rocks at other bars. Get a Margret in Mexico or four while you wait for your train, you ain’t gonna regret it. We loved being able to hang here while we waited for the not-so-bullet train to take us back to the city of brotherly shove. Loved it.“

“Not a bad place to people watch and grab a drink or lunch. It’s pretty cheap by NY standards and has a good atmosphere. I have the cheeseburger sliders and she asked if I wanted to add fries, I said yes, but it added $5 for the fries and there was like a $2 portion of them on the side. The sliders were good though. It’s also not a fast lunch stop.“

“Personal a big fan of any literary bars, even if they don't have any books. This place is definitely a charming Irish pub, with both bar and table service. Will say that if you are ready for your drink and at a table its easier to order if at the bar and they'll bring it over. Love all the clever names they have for drinks / cocktails and fairly priced for NYC. I found the 500 Guinness wall cute. Also, always a big fan when they have the digital jukeboxes to play the tunes you want to hear. I got the cider they have on tap and the signature drink. Both very good and now I also have a new glass bottle.“

“Great local Irish bar. I was staying a week at a nearby hotel and this place had the exact Irish bar feel I needed. I instantly felt like a regular they were glad to see, coming and going. Proper for an Irish place. Good pours on the beers. I was here for the first 2016 Presidential Debates and there was a lot of opinions, but in true NYC style, nobody got bent, no matter how much of a (&%$g idiot the other person was.“
“Cool bar, it's only been open since 2017 , but before that it was a pub from the 50s , and before that it was a Corner Cafe started in 30s . Has a cool vibe, and a book section in the corner where you can sit and chill. . Has a cool vibe, and a book section in the corner where you can sit and chill no food menu, you can bring your own pie and enjoy a beer!“
“I was looking for a new karaoke bar to attend. I found out Shillelagh Tavern is an active venue for shows, open mic jamm sessions and karaoke. I went there on a Saturday night on karaoke night. It's starts a bit late. At 11:30 pm you can start picking your songs. I like the crowd. There were a lot of good singers. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. The bar itself is also
great. They have a great selection of beers and well drinks. All the bartenders I dealt with were
professional and quick to attend to me. I recommend this lovely little off the beaten path watering hole. They don't sell food there, but they hold the menus for several take out places on the block. You can order from the menu and they will deliver it to you.“

“This victorian inspired restaurant was very pleasant to the eyes. It really looks like you’re stepping back in time. I hear they offer an afternoon tea. I would like to come back and try that someday but we were here for dinner and it was wonderful. We had the lobster ravioli, and the steak and frites. Everyone we came in contact with was attentive and pleasant. They also have a full bar so I imagine they have a great cocktail hour or so.“

“Had a wonderful pre-theater dinner here last night. The restaurant has a very cool, comfortable vibe. Our waiter Liam provided exceptional, attentive service. And the food - can't say enough about the shepherds pie. Savory and satisfying, especially on one of the first brisk fall days in the city. We will be back and you should try it too!“

“Go here! The neighborhood pub since... forever. Formerly Wigwam Tavern, then Cottage Bar, now Irish Pub 178.
Food is still great. Beats a greasy burger joint any time. Barkeep and server are great. Monitors all over so you can watch Football European or American), Baseball, Basketball, etc. Great drinks and beers of course. Guinness, Smithwick, and others
Brought the whole family here for dinner. They allow accompanied minors in the restaurant area until 9pm. Then after 9pm it becomes drinking age only.
Drink wisely & have fun!“
