Being Korean I always hope for a little stickier of a rice instead of the dry kind and it was the way I like it. The chopped pita took up a lot of space which I prefer as the pieces to dip or rip. The veggies were soft boiled and it hit right. I’m used to the tahini being a little less tart but it was good nonetheless. My only question would be why do the falafels have to be so dark/burnt/crispy? I think I would enjoy it a bit more if it were less burned. In any case, I will definitely come back. “An Excellent Turkish Restaurant in NYC !!!I was in New York City for a business trip last week and by searching for a Turkish place in Midtown I came across Akdeniz. I was met with true Turkish hospitality, everyone was very nice. I had the Iskender Kebab which tasted as if I was in Istanbul. It was very fresh and tasty. The babaghannous was nicely made you could taste the fresh roasted eggplant, as good as the best in Turkey. The price is appropriate for the type of food you're getting, but even more so-the portion sizes and flavor are top notch. We've already stoped in multiple times so here are some of our take aways :-dolmades: honestly, the best l've ever had. And I try them EVERYWHERE. Not cheaply portions either - solid roll and you get 5 in an order. WORTH IT.-pita chips: clearly homemade and SO delicious. They're softer than the ones people are used to getting, but firm enough to really hold some hummusBowl/Wrap ingredients :BASES-med couscous: light and fluffy, not porridge-esque-warm garbanzo beans: Held their integrity during cooking so you're greeted with big pillows of seasoned goodness-farmers mix: more than just Romaine-reminiscent of a garden mix (arugula, kale, etc)SPREADS-zesty Feta: no words can do this justice. Chunky and full of love-roasted eggplant hummus: brought an almost Smokey flavor as opposed to regular hummus-Kalamata olive hummus: recommended by the young man making my dish and WOW so glad he did. I'm not a huuuuuuge olive fan and this was just a nice essence of kalamatas. I was afraid it would be too potent and take over the dish. QUITE THE OPPOSITE! If you're not familiar with the taste of tahini to begin with (earthy if you will), then I would recommend a flavored one-roasted red pepper tahini: a gift from above ! There is a slight sweet yet smokey flavor that wraps everything together-garlic jalapeño tahini: not as spicy as you'd imagine so it just gives a nice lil zest to your dish-lemon & olive oil : depending on what you put in your order, this will help with overall texture. If you opted out of wet stuff (tomatoes, lettuce, etc) this is your choice !Lastly,The Earth Burger: like a big ole falafel and WOW did not disappoint. Maintained the integrity of the falafel (crispy outside, soft inside) while giving you the satisfying big bite you're looking for. Only complaint is since it is such a hearty size, maybe a size of tahini or tatziki should accompany it. Their bread, the taboon bread, was delicious. We each couldn't get enough of the sauce in the Moroccan fish dish. Service was fantastic. Our waiter, Leonardo, knew the menu and was helpful. We weren't planning on getting desserts but then with his prodding, we got the Malabi and the halvah with ice cream. Both were so satisfying. I would definitely go back. The chicken was well seasoned and spiced, the chick peas were tender and savory, and the rice was such a great compliment to the protein.
