“First, I need to preface this was a Thanksgiving dinner. It is almost always the case that holiday dinners (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Eve etc) there is a usual penalty the diner takes in quality and elevated price. It is not a criticism of Empire Steak House, just how things work in the industry to set the context.\n\nWith that stated and considered, the overall meal was better than I expected. My only real criticism regarding the food was the pumpkin soup was a little thin. \n\nWe each had filet mignon. They were well prepared and of good quantity and quality. Staff were accommodating and friendly. We even received a little complimentary port after dessert, which was a nice gesture. \n\nWe had the set Thanksgiving menu which gave you multiple choices for starter, principal plate, and dessert. We had the pumpkin soup and calamari to start (see prior comments on the soup. The fried calamari was fine). We both found the vegetables well prepared that went with our steaks. For dessert, the pumpkin pie was tasty and well portioned along with the sorbet.\n\nIn addition to the above food, we had three glasses of wine. The total price with tax and 20% tip was $365. All in all this was a good value. We may return. Even though we generally don't go out for steak very often, this may be a safer bet in the theater district since the ingredients at Empire Steak House seem to be of good quality and charming service.“

“We dined here for our last night in New York, and were so glad we did. The food was outstanding, steaks cooked as requested, sides of Steakhouse fries, sauteed broccoli and mushrooms were perfectly delicious accompaniments. “Kochi and Mari are two of my fave restaurants so I had very high expectations coming to Gui for the first time and it did not disappoint! We took the recommendations of our lovely waiter, Tshepo, and we were so glad we did! I started off with the Guava 2.0 cocktail. It was so delicious and the perfect balance of liquor and sweetness. My husband had a martini, made table side. Tshepo asked my daughter if she preferred apple or pineapple and came back with the most delicious apple mocktail— my daughter would go on to order 2 more. Tshepo recommended the Caesar salad —the lettuce was slightly charred, lots of yummy cheese- and the salmon crudo— I don't know what sauce this was swimming in but it could've been my next cocktail it was so delicious. For the main course we ordered the prime rib — best ever- and the grilled ribeye- cooked perfectly. They came with a medley of sauces and accompaniments that weren't really necessary but fun to try. We had the Brussels sprouts, corn, eggplant katsu, and wagyu fried rice. All had comforting familiar flavors with surprising Korean twists. Finally for dessert, we tried the Paris- Jeju (creamy and fruity), apple cheesecake (rich and comforting), and the prickly pear sorbet (light and refreshing.) Overall, it was a wonderful experience. This will be our go-to for pre/post theater meals. We can't wait to go back and try new things!“

“We celebrated our 20th Wedding Anniversary at Sparks. This may be the best steak restaurant in the world, much less NYC. The ambiance is amazing. Dinner was outstanding. We ordered the filet (medium) and medallions (medium rare) with a side of creamed spinach and cheese cake for desert. Our waiter, Juan, has been with the restaurant 32 years. He made sure we got to the play on time and made us feel special. Can't wait to come back!“

“The place is definitely smaller than I expected, which probably explains why reservations are a must. The ambience was beautiful good vibes, good music, and a really friendly staff. The drinks were great, mine were strong , and the food was solid overall. My strip steak was perfectly tender, but it could've used a little more seasoning like salt. The mashed potatoes were slightly cold, but it balanced out because my salmon was piping hot. The highlight for me was the birthday moment where they came out with a huge sign and sparkler to sing, which made it feel really special. I'd probably come back again! It's just far from where i live.“

“I ordered for dinner the ribeye steak and onion rings. Cooked medium, the steak was flavorful; I did not need any sauce at all. The place was clean and the staff attentive (it was a Wednesday night).The bill, surprisingly, did not include gratuity or tip. You pay either by card (small charge additional) or cash. The "downsides" are: no parking lot for diners as you park on the sides of the Avenue. There is also no alcohol (wine, beer or cocktails) served. I will bring my family here and recommend to friends.“
