“It's been about 5 years since the last time I was here. I was worried the prices might have sky rocketed and made it unaffordable, but I was pleased to see that there were many affordable options. We took our number and waited to be called to order.
We ordered a pitcher of Iced Tea at the bar and sipped it as we sat out by the docks till our number was called. The food came out quickly and was very tasty. We enjoyed a beautiful atmosphere watching the boats go in and out as the cool breeze cooled out skin as we sat by the shaded docks.
I definitely recommend the broiled seafood platters!

“My husband and I have been visiting Cape May for years now, and we cannot understand how we waited this long to stop in the Oyster Bay Bar & Restaurant for dinner. We spent a few weeks in the area this year and had meals at the Oyster Bay Bar three times!! From our first visit, we felt so incredibly welcomed beginning with a nice chat with the hostess as we waited for our table. Just from that brief chat during our first visit, the same hostess greeted me by my name on our 2nd visit. I’m embarrassed to say that I cannot remember her name, but I will say that she was incredibly lovely and personable. Our server, Bobby, who took care of us on both our first and last visits, had a wonderful personality, sharing some tidbits with us of the history of the restaurant and with being local to the area, answered some of our questions about the holiday season in Cape May. Now, about the food…with each visit we tried something new and found each meal to be delicious and satisfying. Our favorite appetizer, which we had on all three visits, was the charbroiled oysters. Absolutely delightful!! The mix of the Parmesan cheese in the garlic butter….so very good!! My husband and I always like to do something special on our last night of vacation…and you guessed it, the Oyster Bay Bar was our choice for dinner! The lovely hostess greeted us once again and mentioned to the owner, Gary, that this was our third visit and that we chose this restaurant as our last dinner on vacation. Gary stopped by our table, after sending a complementary round of drinks to us, and spent time speaking with us. Knowing we were tossing the idea of a return visit during the holidays, he gave us his personal cell phone number to reach out to him for not only restaurant reservations but also if we had any other questions regarding the holiday visit. Never before, have I encountered such genuine kindness and graciousness in a visit to a restaurant establishment. I cannot stress to all who take the time to read this review that you most definitely must stop in the Oyster Bay Bar & Restaurant for a meal. You will not be disappointed. “My wife and I went to Stowaways for the first time on Friday night for their reopening. The new menu was great, options for everyone from seafood to steak, sandwiches and options for the kids as well. We met Marisa, she was very welcoming and attentive and stopped at our table several times to make sure everything was going well. After dinner, Gloria took us to their private event space and needless to say it was very impressive. We will definitely be back!“

“My wife and I decided we wanted to check out places we’ve never been on the Jersey shore this summer. We found this place first. Lucky us-we chose their opening day to try it. We were immediately greeted by a drunk man telling us not to waste our time as he staggered out. The staff handled him with ease-we decided to stay and check it out. They had normal first day growing pains with staffing but the service and food didn’t reflect this. Everything we ordered was available, hot, and tasted fresh. This place has definitely taken a spot in our favorites list and we will be back. If it was that good on opening day, I can’t imagine what a nice summer evening entails.“

“I absolutely recommend Peter Shields Inn for a wedding venue. We had a small wedding on the beach and our wedding dinner was handled by Peter Shields. We worked with Amy (their event coordinator) and she was so helpful in every way. She went above and beyond to make everything so easy for us. I literally handed them a box of our wedding decorations and the tables and everything was set up perfectly! I didn’t have to lift a finger. Their bartender served up our signature drinks with a smile. Our guitarist serenaded guests on the porch while they enjoyed cocktails and wonderful hors doeurves. Dinner was seriously some of the best food I’ve ever had. Perfection hands down!“

“Not sure why this place has a 3.9 rating - we had a wonderful time! Our server, Agnieszka, was great. Oysters were solid. Branzino was superb. Shrimp bruschetta was perfectly balanced with a lot of flavor. Our 2.5 year old daughter was treated great, and thoroughly enjoyed her hot dog and french fries. The Malbec was good, as was the St. Germain Spritz. It was a bit pricy but that’s to be expected for the location. Would go again!“

“I grew up near the Chesapeake Bay and can tell you that Canal Side does crabs right. Their own seasoning blend is very good and they sell bags of it. The local crabs are just a bit smaller on average than Chesapeake crabs but that's ok, their flavor is great! 🦀“
