Preserving Traditions is our go to spot for special treats for our beloved mom. Everything we have ever purchased has brought my mom back to good old fashion recipes that make her taste buds come alive. one treat in particular brought her back to her own grandmother's cooking. what a beautiful experience to witness such joy. “Dined in for my birthday and it was amazing all around! The food was absolutely to die for (specifically the calamari and the tagliatelle--omg). It tasted so fresh and flavourful. The service was equally as good. The staff are very professional, attentive, and thought of everything. The restaurant itself is very quaint and intimate which makes for a perfect vibe. I have lived in Halifax for years and enjoy dining out and this was the best restaurant I have been to in recent memory. Definitely a hidden gem. I will be back!”

We thoroughly enjoyed each and every meal, be it the beef pockets, noodles, dumplings but the best one was the fried rice. The flavours are authentic, meal portions are great and the ambience is amazing and the best part is it’s all halal. If you are in downtown, I highly recommend trying this restaurant!”

Thanks to the entire Canteen family - and I say FAMILY purposefully as you feel the family atmosphere as soon as you arrive - for hosting our team for dinner last week. We booked out the whole restaurant and they did just what we hoped for: Maritime hospitality, wonderful, genuine service and knock-your-socks off food. The team from across Canada went bananas over the Crobster sandwich. The special welcome from the owners was a lovely touch. The guests raved all the way back across the harbour on the ferry about the wonderful meal from start to finish. It’s a lovely space that is not pretentious and puts an emphasis on fantastic food and exemplary service, with a genuine smile. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

And the food? Insanely good—like if flavor and perfection teamed up for a gourmet showdown. We devoured lobster toast, beet salad, braised beef grilled cheese, and beef tartar.
