“Holy smokes. Where do I start? Thanks to the entire Canteen family - and I say FAMILY purposefully as you feel the family atmosphere as soon as you arrive - for hosting our team for dinner last week. We booked out the whole restaurant and they did just what we hoped for: Maritime hospitality, wonderful, genuine service and knock-your-socks off food. The team from across Canada went bananas over the Crobster sandwich. The special welcome from the owners was a lovely touch. The guests raved all the way back across the harbour on the ferry about the wonderful meal from start to finish. It’s a lovely space that is not pretentious and puts an emphasis on fantastic food and exemplary service, with a genuine smile. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“

“I just had a culinary adventure at Edna’s in Halifax that was nothing short of spectacular. The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable, I felt like I was dining with my own personal food guru! “Every now and then you fined a place that blows your mind. This place is special. If you find yourself in Dartmouth you must stop here. You get a feel right away when you walk in that your home not only with food but beer. Then you are greeted by staff that are super nice and kind. They stop to chat they make sure everything is to your liking. So many beers to choose from. 20 micro brews on the list. Then the food came. Oh My the food. So freakin delicious ?. And at a fair price. I can't say enough good things about this place. If you are visiting Halifax just take the ferry over it's a short walk from the dock. Walking back to my car, I noticed this cute spot, Portland Street Creperie and decided to check it out. So glad I did! I’ll definitely be back. The owner and his staff member of many years greeted me with a warm welcome and good suggestions. It was a bonus to discover Neil shares a love of Kraftwerk! If you like sushi, they have it. If you want ramen, they have one option and it is perfect.

The takoyaki was exactly what I wanted. I had a bunch of salmon sushi and California rolls. Every piece was incredible. My husband had the ramen and it's some of the best we've ever had. Definitely the best we've had in the Halifax area.

I shop nearby fairly regularly and now expect that I'll just make sure those trips have enough time to stop in for a bite.

We had called earlier same day to see if we could get an earlier booking and was very pleased that they let us know that there was an earlier seating as a party had cancelled last minute. We ordered one of the starters and reordered same 15 minutes later, the raw scallop. Best way to have had anywhere in North America or Japan. Definitely a must eat at restaurant in Nova Scotia.“

We were visiting out of province and we were flying out the next day, we ran out of tea bags and didn’t want to buy a box of tea, my husband asked them for one tea bag and they were so happy to provide us with not one but 4 tea bags. They packed our food in containers and gave us cutlery to take back to hotel. Thank you very much.“

Parking: There is parking but not a parking lot. Depending on when you're there it would be paid street parking out front or free. Residential roads behind but close by are free.“

“Lovely Mediterranean restaurant with exceptionally beautiful tablecloths and a nice ambiance. We ordered the beet salad (beets, walnuts, goat cheese, maple vinaigrette) and the mixed meze plate which included hummus, dolma, mutabbel, falafel, and eggplant saute. For dessert we had the baklava and liked it so much we also got an order to go. The baklava at the table was served with a delicious raspberry sauce.

Everything was very tasty and plated in an attractive way. Our server was very attentive and helpful. The view from the restaurant is the only detraction since it looks out onto a parking lot (nice trees, otherwise unexceptional) but they do their best to make the inside beautiful and cozy. We will definitely go back.
