“I cannot recommend this place enough! I’ve been to just about every coffee shop in Reno/sparks and this is the best place. After living in both Italy and Spain throughout college, coffee back home wasn’t quite cutting it. But HCC never misses! Their sugar and spice latte is the BEST! The owners are so friendly and the baristas are excited to see us come in each weekend. I bring all my friends here and they have loved it too. There’s plenty of seating, good music and it’s decorated nicely. Really the best way to sum it up is that the owners know what small business in Reno is all about, no matter how big this city is getting. Genuine, hard working, kind and personable owners. We love HCC!“
“Sucker for a really great cup of coffee, I tried Glorycloudcoffee this morning after my order arrived yesterday. Honestly, I couldn't be more pleased. Smooth but strong enough to provide a gentle morning kick, the taste reminds me much of Douwe Egberts gourmet coffee they often serve at the best fancy hotel banquets. Yes, I can recommend Glorycloudcoffee and will to my friends and family. Reasonably priced, quick delivery, and customer service by people who are as sold on their product as I am.“

“We were visiting Reno for a week and this became one of our favorite local places. The young women that work there have such kind, positive energy. The tea was outstanding. My son and I stopped by 4 of the 7 days we were in town.“

“I was in Reno for a week to start the new year and this was my go to coffee spot. Loved the creme brûlée mocha was amazing. Just the right amount of sweet and no bitterness to the coffee. I had the quiche one morning and it was good too!“

“This place is very busy no matter what time you go. We went on a Thursday morning and there was a wait. The food was good if not a bit overpriced. I had the senior breakfast with sausage and it was plenty of food. The service was good but a little on the minimalist side. This is a local place and busy so it can be a little loud at times. Overall the food was good, the service was good and I will definitely be back.“

“Wonderful coffee in a serene outdoor space (4/5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact) I almost missed the Coffeebar Roastery but I’m glad I doubled back to find it. It’s really on the lane with no name that runs between Haskell and S. Virginia – if you’re walking along Haskell there's a space where 1030 should be and Coffeebar is behind that plot. There’s lots of seating outside their red-brick building, including several small tables with lovely mosaic tiles, a large table for 6, and a sofa under a canopy. This seating area, which is well secluded from traffic, combined with Coffeebar’s great music selection make this a very chill spot to forget your Covid woes. And their coffee is great too! The friendly Barista introduced me to a few coffees – both natural processed (the entire coffee cherry is dried before the bean is separated from the pulp) which saves on water and often makes the coffee more fruity and delicious. I decided to risk over-caffeinating and have both of them: the Costa Rica Finca Lucerito as a Gibraltar and the Ethiopian Naia Bombe as a pour-over. This was my first ever Gibraltar – made with Oatly oat milk and a sprinkle of sugar on top – and it was so delicious! The Ethiopian coffee was so lacking in bitterness that I was able to drink it without milk or sugar (which is rare for me). They also do flights – either different beans in the same format (e.g., espresso) or the same beans in multiple formats (Gibraltar and espresso) so it’s a good spot for a coffee education. Prices were reasonable considering the high quality – it was $7 total for the Gibraltar and the pour-over. I’m also giving Coffeebar 4/5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact for the following reasons: • Coffeebar have a direct trade relationship with coffee farmers. The benefits of this vary by coffee farm – it may be a better price for the farmer and/or more sustainable farming practices. • For example, the Costa Rica Finca Lucerito comes through collaboration with Sustainable Management Services (SMS) in Costa Rica. SMS do agricultural research in Central America to increase sustainability (e.g., improved fertilization techniques and coffee varieties that are more resistant to disease). • Having said that, Coffeebar don’t provide a lot of detail, compared to some other roasters (e.g., Temple Coffee in Davis strives for transparency in actual prices paid to farmers). Even on the blog posts dedicated to each coffee variety, there’s often a lack of useful information. For example, their Thai coffee is grown in Doi Inthanon National Park but there’s no discussion on the environmental impact of the farm (e.g., shade cover, which is often lacking in Asian coffee farms). There’s a decent blog post by David Wilson on why Coffeebar wants to move beyond coffee that’s certified (e.g., organic) but in order to do that they need to raise the bar on their communication – seriously! Otherwise, how do we tell them apart from roasters that are only paying lip-service to their social and environmental impact? • I like that they provided glasses and mugs for having coffee in-house when so many have abandoned them (for no good reason) during lockdown. • For disposable cups, Coffeebar are partnering with reCUP which make cups that are designed to be recyclable. The cups are generally not compostable as they still contain a plastic liner (just less plastic than normal). • There’s a 75 cent charge for alternative milk listed on the menu – that’s a fairly steep penalty for choosing plant-based milk. Having said that, I wasn’t charged extra for having Oatly in my Gibraltar :) • Their coffee-bean packages are pretty (and award-winning) but it’s a pity they’re not compostable (e.g., like Counter Culture Coffee) • On their website you can find info on their suppliers for food ingredients (listed under Partners) including some familiar good names like Central Milling organic flour and Petaluma Creamery grass-fed butter.“

“Have you ever wanted a personalized drip coffee? Go to Bibo and get one of their pourovers. Ask the brewmaster a bit about the different grind options. I didn’t have the gelato, but it looked delicious with a large selection. Seating is limited and the atmosphere is sparse but the music was great.“

“Very kind and sweet staff. The coffee is great today I had iced cinnamon white Mocha and it's delicious 😋 🧋 The dining room is always clean and welcoming. The atmosphere is relaxing, peaceful, and a fireplace that's calming and cozy. The staff works very hard and when you pick up your order, they'll ask you if your drink is made on how you like it very conscious to great customer service.“

“Nothing like seeing 4 cars go before you, as the order taker stayed on one side and took new arrivals and the ones there before them just sat…. And when you mention it at the window they shrug…. I guess this is a NV thing…. Never had this issue in other states…. Will let all know not to visit this one or any….“

“My boyfriend would never in his life order an almond milk latte. But our barista asked if almond milk was okay as the default. He hesitantly responded that was fine… I knew at that moment that I’d be drinking his latte. Hah!
Boy I was wrong.. my boyfriend LOVED HIS DRINK and kept insisting I try it (despite being full from breakfast). He’s not wrong!! This is one of the best lattes we’ve had in awhile. Great quality and well made! Still can’t believe my boyfriend actually likes it. Mind blown so I guess that’s a testament of how good this place is. So good!“
“Had a small group of friends for my wifes birthday to take the Gin school. One of the best experience we have ever booked in Reno. We learned about gin Had a few gin drinks and then we were able to create our own Gin flavor and have a bottle to take home. All in all worth every penny. An everyone thinking its expensive the cost includes about 6 cocktails (if you wait for you gin to be stilled) and a bottle of your own flavor gin that you create. The staff is great. The bartenders are amazing. A definit must do when in Reno“

“I’ve been going to this location for a little over a year. I really couldn’t speak more highly of the crew here. Maddy and Tom are exceptional and they make this location feel more like a small community-centric business as opposed to a corporate chain. Just really good people who are down to earth and do a great job. Having been to many other Starbucks this one always stands out.“

“The coffee was excellent and the cinnamon roll was really good - all their baked goods looked fantastic. They were able to make a latte in my own thermos which i appreciated before getting back on the road.

“I was visiting Reno for work when I found Dark Shot Coffee, while I was their i got to meet the owner and some of the staff. I mentioned that I often purchased white coffee back home in Seattle. I have never been able to find white coffee outside of the state. The next day I returned to the coffee shop only to find that the owner found white coffee for me. That made my mornings wonderful well visiting the region that week. Thank you so much for your generosity, I purchased one of your mugs so I would never forget my experience, I drink my morning coffee from it every day.“

“Julissa deserves all the gold stars. She came out from behind the counter to hand-deliver my drinks, which already says a lot. Then I dropped my food, and before I could even process the disaster she whisked it away and made me a brand-new one without me even asking. That’s next-level customer service. She noticed everything, jumped in immediately, and made the whole experience feel genuinely cared for. Thanks Julissa!“

“tonight was the worst!!! i ordered a #1 med, with a sweet tea. i waited over 20 minutes in line. every car ahead of me was handed one bag of food. i get to the window. some rude kid swings open the window. says very rudely, "ugh what did you order?" after telling him, he slams the window shut, and says " Oh my God everything is messed up!" another kid comes, says that they messed up n it was going to be a couple more minutes. after 15 minutes, a manager I'm guessing finally comes to the window, asks what i ordered. Finally i get home n take out my food, its ICE COLD!!!! my fries were cold n hard, my big mac was cold. oh yeah! while i was waiting i watched an emoloyee, make an iced coffee. Before he put the lid on it, he tasted it!!! then proceeded to make more drinks n get them ready for an order!!!! disgusting!!!!! all those employees need to be fired! the managers who were standing outside the whole time smoking, who finally decided to go in need to be fired! never going to THIS location ever again!!!“
