“Just overall, good, classic Mexican food. The pupusas are my favorite in town and the prices are wonderfully reasonable. I find myself here about twice a month and the ladies working there are super nice and have never led me astray with their suggestions.“

“Angel, the bartender, was absolutely incredible! Despite the overwhelming crowd during Hot August Nights, she remained attentive, kind, and sincerely apologetic to every guest. It was clear the café was understaffed for the influx of customers, yet Angel handled the pressure with grace and a smile. She stayed calm and organized in the chaos, never placing blame on her team or management.

At one point, a customer became upset, and Angel addressed the situation with a level of professionalism and empathy that’s rare to see in such a fast-paced role. She’s a true asset to your team—please thank her again on our behalf. She deserves recognition, a raise, and a promotion!

Also, a big shoutout to Kim, the busser, who was clearly juggling a lot but still made the effort to help out wherever she could. As a business leader myself, I recognize strong team members when I see them—and they’re a reflection of great leadership. Kudos to your whole team! Please consider allocating more budget for extra staff during busy events like this.

“My family, wife and two daughters have been coming here for about 10 years. We come from California and would stop over on our camping trips to Yellowstone, Wyoming and Montana. Carlillos soon became a regular stop for any business in the eastern sierras. I grew up in San Diego and this is the best Mexican food I’ve had. Not because it’s complex or a fancy restaurant, it just makes you feel at home regardless of where you live or where you came from. Great family, atmosphere and food. I usually get Huevos Rancheros and the family tries something different every time and it’s always good. Girls are in college now but they always ask when are we going back.“

The food was great, no complaints at all. I had a mock tail. I forgot the name of the drink but found it really refreshing and tasty. I ordered “sexy fries” and they are good French fries but they’re just French fries lol! For dinner I ordered a bistro burger and let me tell you…it’s a pretty hefty burger. It’s good but afterwords I was stuffed. No dessert for me. We were giving cotton candy and a brownie as we left. That was also great tasting. I would recommend this for anyone for any occasion“

The best, of course is the Cheeseburger taco - which I know sounds odd, but until you try it, you have no idea what you're missing. The broth was rich and flavorful, with just the right amount of spice to warm you up without being overpowering. The hominy was perfectly cooked, and the tender chunks of meat melted in your mouth.
