“We celebrated our anniversary at Restaurant Trokay and had an incredible evening.
John and Nyna Weatherson, along with their entire team, created a truly special experience from start to finish. We enjoyed the four-course prix fixe menu with the wine pairing, and every course was outstanding. The food was creative, beautifully presented, and most importantly, absolutely delicious. The wine pairings were spot on and really complemented each dish.
What stood out just as much as the food was the hospitality. Everyone made us feel welcome, and the personalized anniversary touches were greatly appreciated.
Truckee is fortunate to have a restaurant of this caliber. If you’re looking for a memorable dinner, special occasion, or just an amazing meal, Trokay is worth every penny.

“O.K., Coming to West Shore for last 20+ years. GF has been coming to West Shore since family cabin built in McKinney Creek in 1960. This place started off a little rocky a few years back but had definitely improved like a fine wine. I am a Carb boy and LOVE any variation of their Pizza's. GF non-Carb girl but still devours their pizza. Only suggestion (which is partially our fault) is to order extra Dates on their Date Pizza. Also, the Pickle salad could use some work (however, they refunded for that). Best deal on the West Shore and Tahoe City when it comes to price and quality. We usually go to Reno for dinner because of their quality choices, but the Dog and Bear holds up against the best that Reno has to offer. Service is 5 Star!!! FYI, I am a dog lover...Especially partial to Labs.“

The “General Manager” (not on site) REFUSED to allow the on site staff to turn down the crappy background music and turn up the sound on the game. WHY??? “I was searching for food that was not crowded, admittedly I was overwhelmed by the weekenders that flock from all over cities that were crammed in the shopping district. I spotted a church building with a small sign that said, cafe open, as I was making my way out of town with haste. Alas, I found exactly what I needed. Score, big time. It is a beautiful, tranquil space, and the sandwich I had, Ban mi (add turkey)...beyond exquisite. The lavender drink concoction was eloquent and refreshing. Go here for a zen delicious af meal and very nice service.“

“I’ve been here a couple of times and it’s a decent mountain pizza, but this time was phenomenal because of Sophie!!! She was the most fun and attentive server I’ve had here in the mountains in a long time! We had such a great time and she took genuine care of us. “I got the 1/2 tritip plate with coleslaw and rice with tortillas. Very tasty and fills you up. My daughter got the 1/2 chicken (which is literally half of a chicken) with coleslaw and rice with garlic bread and she brought half home. it was all tasty.“
“We visited a few years ago, in 2018 and bought several bottles of Red Barn Red. Tonight 2/15/2025, I opened our last bottle. It held its color and flavor. We are really enjoying this lovely wine. I think it's time to visit Truckee, again. Cheers!“

“Couldn’t be happier with Tahoe National Brewing Company and its team, especially Daphne and Jessie. Our family of 18 had arranged ahead of time to have dinner here for my dad’s 80th birthday, but we were also hoping to surprise my dad with line dancing lessons after dinner as he’s always wanted to try it but hadn’t had the chance. Although TNBC has public line dancing events every 2nd and 4th Sunday evenings, we were only in town in between those times. They graciously worked with us to have their dance instructor Kendall available for us! She was super for our group and it was a dream come true for my dad. Very memorable. Thanks TNBC! Thanks Kendall!“

“We were in Truckee for the day and wanted something different. This was the perfect place! Outdoor dining was amazing balls! Comfy setting, like your own outside patio. The food was exactly what we wanted! A watermelon non alcoholic spritz was so refreshing. Not sweet but more blended fruity mix. A hot tasty sandwich, perfectly crispy sweet potato fries and that day.. a velvety French onion soup. It was a different type of bread, bunch of spices and big slice of the cheese! So much cooked onions and a broth that tasted like it was cooked for hours, to get a deep rich beef taste. Staff was so friendly and nice. Will be going back to try their pizzas and salads!“

“The best part of this restaurant is it's environment and it's dog friendliness. We always go with Ares our JRT and you often see other dogs, on the patio. Food is good too, but I actually like my own cooking of quality meat in general.“

“The food is a little pricey, but very good! I got the pastrami sandwich. The music doesn’t match the vibe of a tap house at all. Also the service method is fast food design. You order and pay and take a number. Overall would get takeout for the food, but not enjoy in house again.“
“This is a good place to stop and have lunch during your Northstar ski experience. However, I can't give it five stars because the prices are at least double the normal cost. That applies to everything sold here. Options for vegan or vegetarian guests are very limited. All that aside, it's a nice ski lodge, and the food is fine if you like burgers, fries, pizza, chicken tenders, etc. Lines are usually short, and the staff is friendly and helpful. It is clean and tidy.“

“Don't let the casual name fool you—Truckee Tavern and Grill completely blew us away. I walked in thinking it was just another local grill, but the food is absolute high-end restaurant quality. Every single dish was incredibly fresh, exceptionally tasty, and the flavors were perfectly paired together.
The vibe is wonderfully casual and comfortable, making the outstanding quality of the food an incredibly pleasant surprise. On top of that, the service was excellent from start to finish—we felt genuinely welcomed from the moment we walked through the door, and our server was fantastic. We can’t wait to come back and try the rest of the menu!“

“First time at Lake Tahoe, and this place was amazing! We had lunch on the patio, and we can tell how vibrant this place is just because there were no tables open. My burger was a 10/10 perfect medium rare, fries were the perfect crisp, makes the meal 20/20. The service was also fantastic, she always made sure we were hydrated and everything was on point, on this beautiful hot day.“
