“First time at Lake Tahoe, and this place was amazing! We had lunch on the patio, and we can tell how vibrant this place is just because there were no tables open. My burger was a 10/10 perfect medium rare, fries were the perfect crisp, makes the meal 20/20. The service was also fantastic, she always made sure we were hydrated and everything was on point, on this beautiful hot day.“

The view of the valley is stunning and the ambiance was romantic with a live piano player setting the mood. We chose handmade pappardelle and branzino as our mains and they were delicious and beautifully plated. Perfect place for date night especially if you stay nearby.“

“This restaurant is fantastic! Lukas was one of the best servers I have come across. They have unique and flavorful twists on traditional Scandinavian dishes. And the manager Jeff sources local foods. The ahi appetizer in cones was a recommendation from Jeff and did not disappoint. Our Schnitzel was fabulous and so was the elk pot pie. It was quiet at the time we happened to be there so we got to chat a bit. We learned that the owner’s daughter is the pastry chef so we had to try the cheesecake. Also delicious. It was just a great dining experience.“

“This is a good place to stop and have lunch during your Northstar ski experience. However, I can't give it five stars because the prices are at least double the normal cost. That applies to everything sold here. Options for vegan or vegetarian guests are very limited. All that aside, it's a nice ski lodge, and the food is fine if you like burgers, fries, pizza, chicken tenders, etc. Lines are usually short, and the staff is friendly and helpful. It is clean and tidy.“

John and Nyna Weatherson, along with their entire team, created a truly special experience from start to finish. We enjoyed the four-course prix fixe menu with the wine pairing, and every course was outstanding. The food was creative, beautifully presented, and most importantly, absolutely delicious. The wine pairings were spot on and really complemented each dish.

What stood out just as much as the food was the hospitality. Everyone made us feel welcome, and the personalized anniversary touches were greatly appreciated.

“I went in yesterday with an omelet in mind when I saw corned beef hash on the menu. When I ordered it, the waitress asked "canned or fresh?" That was an easy choice, fresh! It was perfect homemade hash and even contained some green pepper. The best that I have had in years! I ordered it with sliced tomatoes and was in seventh heaven. Can't wait to return. “The pier bar was a party. Very crowed but grate people and boat watching. Their Chambers Crush drinks were not as good as they were in June. Not as cold and slushy. I think they were just too busy and it was too hot to keep up. Still good and they pack a punch. Great way to start our evening. Enjoyed our dinner in the quieter atmosphere with a beautiful view. “Shhhh…. i’m going to tell you a secret. This place has the best garlic fries. Do you know when you’ve gone somewhere once and the food was really great and then you go again and it’s not so great… Not with this place. It’s a little unassuming and a small strip mall in Truckee off the main drag, but that’s why I love this place! The food is fresh. The atmosphere is like the locals. It’s a great hangout spot when we were there a kids baseball team came in with their parents for food. Now this is a bar and restaurant with tons of TVs so be prepared the noise. It gets a little loud but well worth the visit. Services good the food is great and I’ll be back!
I got the Alpine burger with a chicken breast and my friend got the Santa Fe burger with the veggie patty. We both raved about our food and were so happy with the quality.“

“On Friday, June 5, after being in the busy San Francisco Bay area for 2 weeks, it was a relief to leave the traffic behind and head east. Always liking to take the road-less-travelled, we exited I-80 at Norden and drove US Hwy 40 over the historic Donner Pass. Along the way, we came across the Old 40 Bar & Grill at the Donner Ski Ranch. It turned out to be a fun place, with a funky atmosphere and a fairly mediocre pizza.“
