“I have been going to Fortina since they first opened in 2013. Fortina and Decicco's, both located in Armonk Square, were a shot in the arm to downtown Armonk at the time and they both have become institutions in town. Fortina strikes a perfect balance of modern takes on italian food while offering an authentic experience with excellent homemade pastas, wood-fired pizzas, and other "wood-fired" offerings coming out of their ovens. Their menu has few blind spots as everything I have had has always been delicious. I always look forward to new seasonal additions and tweaks over the years. On our most recent trip, we tried their wood-fired wings for the first time. They came out piping hot and juicy. The calabrian chili and maple sauce was delicious paired with the green goddess dressing. For an entree, I had the gnocchi (which I had previously via takeout, and I knew I had to try fresh in the restaurant next time I went). The pan seared gnocchi has a thick, almost creamy pistachio pesto drizzled with brown butter and cheese - it was fantastic. Inside Fortina has a great vibe with a rustic but modern feel of the wood covered walls adorned with eccentric art including a portrait of Bill Murray from the life aquatic which has been there since opening. Service is friendly and relaxed. Fortina is always a great choice for some of the best pizza and pasta in the County as well as an excellent weekend brunch.“

Why are white Christmas lights blinking in the windows at the end of January? I wish they would update the interior of the restaurant to give it a less dated look to match the oh SO delicious food. I'll still make reservations there, but hope they plan a remodel in the near future.“

“The ambiance of Raconteur was just perfect. For that brief 1.5hr dinner, I was transported to a cozy, warm and inviting place. The service was excellent (I even shared our server that her aura was glowing). Since we were doing vegetarian that night, we had the spicy shrooms (flavorful, but a little too chewy for me). Then we tried 2 other entrees that I cant remember the names but the taste was unforgettable, one had had honey on it and the other arugula- the bread, folks will make you rethink Keto- reminds me of home made bread. There were fish & meat entrees as well. Go for the vibe, and be transported and renewed. So glad I found this little gem.“

“Yummy seafood. Good date night. It was a week day, so not so busy. I was told it was difficult to get in on weekends. I had mussels as an appetizer and some kind of chicken dish (basically chicken piccata) with risotto on the side. The mussels were amazing, and they had like a broth and toast on the side. I had in mind the chicken would be a little different, but my husband thought it was really good. The risotto was creamy and flavorful. I decided I needed a vegetable, so I ordered some broccoli. They cooked it butter with some garlic slivers, and that broccoli was just delicious. I was stuffed after that, and had that broccoli taste for a little while. Amazing.“

For dinner I had the ribeye, which had great aged flavor and my wife had the pasta special which she loved. On the negatives, the marrow bone in the soup was kind of cold so the marrow was like eating a hunk of cold butter. I ordered my steak medium rare and it was more medium, but everything was still delicious. The noise level was off the charts, it’s a busy bar and was as loud as a frat party, that was annoying.“

“OCCASION: Post funeral service, so the menu options were pre arranged. This restaurant has been here for decades. I have a brick oven pizza at the center of the restaurant. Pizzas are OK, nothing spectacular. With my allium , allergies, I am not able to review all of the appetizers that were served but the wings looked spectacular. MENU: Three choices on our group menu: sliced steak, chicken marsala, or broiled salmon. The sides were rice or garlic mashed potatoes and fresh green beans. The waitress was thorough and pleasant- she assured that my food did not have any garlic or onion products on it. The salmon was cooked perfectly - tender and moist with a generous portion a top amount of fresh green beans. My table mate was very pleased with her sliced steak Prepared to a perfect medium rare. THE SETTING: a log cabin, inside and out - cozy, moody atmosphere, with a casual vibe and bustling during the lunch hour. Due to the nature of our visit, I did not take any photographs of the interior.“

We aren’t in Manhattan. $30+ pastas are unacceptable. And the wine is approachable and works, but not enough of an effort given the quality of food. Be too easy to upgrade it and treat their customers.Saying this I go back each month but I must admit other local options might not be as perfect but bring more value. And I have eaten at some of the best Italian restaurants. It’s a nice comfortable yummy place that won’t disappoint. “Nestled in the corner next to the DeCicco Family Market in Katonah, NY is an unexpected pleasure called the Farmhouse Tavern. The upscale feel from the rich earthy tones, period moldings, and tin ceiling all heighten ones expectations. The talented chef and personable and attentive bar tender, Nick, delivered on every level. We started with Steamed Clams bathed in an aromatic broth of garlic, chorizo, shallots, and white wine. It was so good we asked for more bread and made certain little was left behind. For our entrees, I chose Faroe Island Salmon with a tasty dijon mustard sauce, sautéed spinach and mashed potatoes. It was a perfect compliment to the Steamed clams. My partner chose their Lump Crabment Ravioli in a Brown Butter and Sage Sauce. The flavors danced on our tongues and were beyond sublime in taste. We had no room for dessert and look forward to returning and adding that in too. They offer live music from time to time, so you may luck out big one Thursday night.
