“Solid restaurant for my cravings. Been around for years and been a patron for years. Have been to many Spanish restaurants in NYC, this restaurant stands on the podium amongst many joints. Prices are inconsistent with different cashiers on different nights when I go. Chicken soup can be a hit or miss but overall food is rock solid.“

“The food was great and the service was great. It’s not a huge sour note, but the music was really loud. That would be fine, but it kept stopping, part of an ad would play, it would start back up, then change songs, then stop... Really a loud, random experience. It’s one of those “can’t they tell this is happening?” moments. In spite of that, I still recommend it for the food. Huge portions, tasty (but adding the hot sauce was kind of necessary).“

I recommend my favorite, which is a chicken sandwich with the rotisserie chicken on hero bread with the lettuce, tomatoes, onions, jalapeño, mayonnaise and avocado. Your belly will thank you for the fulfilling-ness of this meal. I also get a smoothie with papaya, apple, pineapple, orange and cayenne pepper.

“They sell super authentic, affordable and super flavorful pastelitos (Dominican fried empanadas), but don’t let the fact they’re fried scare you away! They make them with different fillings, and they truly don’t disappoint. With many empanada spots opening up, they do not compare because the pricing is high or the flavor is lacking. “My favorite place to get food in Crown Heights. Perfect flan. I haven’t had anything off their grill because I go for the steaming buffet that’s by the window. You can see the steam rising off the meats from the sidewalk, and smell it too. Right away you know it’s gonna be good. I’ve had the ribs, roast pork, and beef stew, but my favorite is the baked chicken. Try it over the mangu. Nice staff. Good price. :)“

“This was another happy discovery, and a nice place to stop in for old-fashioned Spanish comfort food. My favorite dish from here is the garlic chicken with rice and beans, as well as the fresh juices. One can make a dish off of the snack foods and smaller dishes by themselves; the standard rice platter that came with the aforementioned chicken lasted me for a few days, there was so much. They also have a wide variety of breakfast dishes and don't mind customizing them as needed.“

“I recommend no other Dominican restaurant in sunset park’s other than El Buen Gusto. It’s been open since the late 80’s by the same owners who ARE Dominican so you will always get authentic food. PLUS, They deliver pretty far IF it’s a big order. In indoor dining is always great, place is very clean and the service is impeccable. They remodeled recently, so the place looks brand new. It’s warm in the winter and extremely comfortable in the summer. Great Latin flavors, all their dishes are fresh and nothing is reheated or frozen.
