“This is a special place, only open Saturdays and Sundays. I suggest arriving earlier, the line is pretty unavoidable, my friends and I arrived close to 1pm, we ended up getting our food about two hours later, so do not expect this to be a quick ordeal. It was worth waiting, two of my friends and I biked from north Brooklyn. Bring a book or some friends, maybe a drink for the line. The line is lively and has a fun and great spirit, mixed with locals, long time regulars, and other who are coming from other places that have heard about the amazing food like us. Piraña, the owner/chef is warm and friendly and hilarious! You can tell that he cares about every single person’s experience and is not rushing you through, every plate is made with care and love, he also gives back, as we waited we witnessed him give food away to those without means to buy food, elderly, etc. Once we finally got our food, we walked to some tables across the street at a playground and we were instantly smiling as we ate our delicious pork! Also the shrimp, crab, and then the octopus salad that you can get in your platter with rice and plantain are all really great and worth trying! Highly recommend, but give yourself a half day for this!“

“Amazing food and a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels like a little slice of Puerto Rico! The flavors are authentic, and every bite takes me right back to my island. The owners have poured so much love into the new location, beautifully painting different stories that showcase the rich history of Puerto Rico. Their dedication to creating a welcoming environment is evident in every detail. I also deeply respect how involved they are with the community—it’s inspiring to see a business so committed to making a positive impact. Highly recommend!“

“We celebrated my mother’s 60th birthday surprise dinner with 50 guests and it was a very lovely experience. Niurka upon meeting her was very sweet charismatic and ensured to answer all of our questions before booking the space. We kept in communication to make sure everything was right before the night of the dinner. The night of the dinner she made sure everything was set up before our arrival! Every person working that night was professional, friendly, attentive and efficient. The food was amazing as well. This was my first time here, and I will definitely return for another dinner night!“

“Food was delicious. Bacalao Guisado with Rice n Pink beans was excellent not salty and real bacalao not Pollock. My friend had a Palomillo steak wrap in a plantain which was succulent. The Alcapurrias though a little over fried had the taste of a kiosko in Puerto Rico. We topped it off with 2 Medalla beers. Overall the food is authentic. Our server Amar was very attentive, and courteous. Will come again with more friends so they can see the difference between Caridad franchises, and an authentic Criollo restaurant“

“Spanish soul food lovers, if you're looking for morcilla, this is the best in bklyn. Perfectly seasoned. Reasonably priced. They also have an excellent tripe soup, chicken soup, rice & peas, roast chicken, roast pork, and more. I always stop by when I'm in the neighborhood.“

“I would've given it 5 Stars because we had a great time with the fabulous DJ spins. Fun! I had arroz con pollo which was very good and had the coconut flan which did not taste the coconut and want as good as I would think. We had an issue with the waitresses way of attending the table. Not friendly at all and tried to charge us $16 for a drink that stayed $14 on the menu. I thought it was an error until she said that drink has 4 liquors,. I explained that it didn't matter if there were 10 liquors in the drink, when your menu states differently that's what you charge. Hope the manager or owner has a talk with her to be friendlier. Also no coffee which is weird being that it's Latin.“

“Great food and service. Just moved here in the area and all I want is Spanish good for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Everything’s well done and juicy! (Pause) I recommend boneless chicken, white rice, red beans and salad. In the morning mungu, cheese, salami and eggs or a sandwich.“

“Havent been here in years (15+ years) and was in town and decided to stop in like I used to years ago before heading back out of town to go home and was kind of disappointed that the food is nothing like I remembered it to be. It was just cold and no flavor.“

“What can I say? It’s awesome.
Such homey food that really hits the spot.
My dad always says it reminds me of the stuff his mom made as a kid, so if it can satisfy an old Puerto Rican guy it can satisfy you.
Prices are awesome, you really should avail yourself of the daily specials.
The fish meals are also excellent albeit at a premium.
I love it. Go.“

“Food was okay not the best I won’t lie but good price for what it is however the service are so sweet as 67 year old lady there was a girl called Sophie who was so patient with me so if you see this Sophie thank you! The atmosphere was good however it was a bit loud but I would guess that. If anyone finds the Olivia who owns this place tell her we have the same name.“

“I was at a nearby hotel looking for a delicious smoothie and got so much more than I imagined. I walked in and immediately the vibe felt right. A very kind woman gave us the lowdown. There were not a lot of options but enough for breakfast/brunch. I ended up with a smoothie, ginger turmeric shot, and the chai pancakes. These pancakes were not light and fluffy. They were soft and dense and beautifully topped with granola and nuts and bananas and I truly enjoyed every bite! Smoothie was good but the mint was a bit too much for my tastebuds. Highly recommend this place! Updated from previous review on 2026-03-03“

“This spot has all the vibes of what this neighborhood used to be when bustling with small local shops, Latin food and that loud nyc street wonderfulness. Still has the same cuchifrito vibes as we remember from back in the day.
I usually eat in or take out but always met with friendliness and helpful lovely women that remember your last visit and ask how the family is. They have platter deals and small take away items like alcapurrias. We usually get rice, beans and pernil, or the chicken. But I do like their steak and onions though that is cooked to order.
The down sides are no bathroom, and no AC, so the summer feels like an over in there.“

“The food is very good, the owner is very nice person, the guys from the delibre are very good person but the person who works in the afternoon and a skinny one there talk to you as if you were a dog, you ask for chicken and they send you goat, you ask for oatmeal and They send you a mess of coffee but if they manage to send you what you really ordered the place is 5 stars“

“We hadn't been here in a while. Looked forward. Start positive: White rice, red beans, and arroz con gandules, very good. However, on a Friday evening (7ish) , there was only 1 server for the entire section. It was not crowded. Empty tables in our section. We placed our orders right away with drinks and an appetizer. We waited more than 30 minutes for our drinks and appetizer. Appetizer never arrived, but our main courses (both the same) did. The fried pork chops were overly cooked - dried excessively. They were more like fried pork chunks. Difficult to eat. Knife had a difficult time cutting the meat. Margarita was subpar at best. Management needs to step up. I am a strong supporter of local restaurants, especially Puerto Rican/Latino establishments. This restaurant is an East Harlem icon. Overall: disappointed.“

“I’ve been coming to this spot for years whenever I’m craving Spanish food, and it’s always been a reliable choice.
The food tastes fresh every time, and the fried shrimp is especially good—definitely one of my favorites. I usually go for takeout during lunch, and the portions and variety (like Camarones Al Ajillo, pulled pork, and even desserts) never disappoint.
Service is quick and straightforward, and the atmosphere is decent for a casual visit.
Overall, it’s a solid place with consistent quality, and I’d happily recommend it if you’re looking for flavorful food at a reasonable price.“

“I've been going to this place for over 20+ years with my family! It remains one of the best places to get crispy pork and rice and beans in the bronx! New owners have come along and other dishes they sell dont really hold up to the level of the pork. Stick with the crispy pork and you will be in 5 star heaven!“

“Absolutely terrible costumer service, a friend and I went in to get some food and we were asking questions and the workers were giving us attitude and ignoring us. I've also noticed a roach on the pizza, This place needs to be shut down. They should not be in business because of the way they be talking to costumers and being rude and nasty. We are not coming here ever again.“
“We were a large group and arrived earlier then our reservation and they accommodated us right away. Food was great and our server went above and beyond when he checked our daughters ID he must of seen her bday was next week and had them sing and bring a dessert to her once we were done with our dinner. Highly recommend“
