“My father and I visited for the first time. We live very locally and have been curious to try it. We were not disappointed. We were greeted warmly and served attentively. The atmosphere is charming and kept very clean. My dad ordered the French toast deluxe and truly enjoyed it. It was fluffy, juicy, and satisfying. I had the Mediterranean omelette. It was very flavorful and fluffy as well. Not every diner is created equal. The lovely woman behind the counter told us this establishment is at least 60 years old. It's such a slice of nostalgia. We had an even better experience than we anticipated. I hope they are a mainstay for years to come. What a treat. Really looking forward to our next breakfast there!“

“Smaller establishment. Cheesy bread was nit hit both visits. I really go there cause its smaller so its usually less chaos. Location is tucked so not the easiest to find. Parking is also scarce as its shared with a shopping complex. Not the best location but doable.“

I am so happy they have finally brought back their LUNCH BUFFET!!! They did it in such a way that no one else does, they have the buffet table set up & bring out tandoori chicken as well as other dishes FRESH to your table as much as you want so these dishes don’t become dried out or soggy!! “What an amazing dinner ! This is my second time at this restaurant and it’s definitely one of my favorites. My afghani friend recommended it and has even said it’s her favorite restaurant, so that’s when you know it’s legit. Rarely do I leave 5 stars, but this experience warranted it.

We ordered the dinner for two special, and it was well worth the price! The salad is so simple but with their special white sauce (I’ve never tasted another white sauce like this one, it has like a special tang to it), it tastes amazing. A fresh way to open your palette. The bolani (stuffed flat bread) and the badinjan (eggplant) was very tasty! Badinjan is my favorite, whenever it’s on the menu im ordering it. The naan was yummy too, tasted very fresh. The presentation of the qabuli palow (rice dish) and the combo #2 (lamb tikka, chicken breast, and kofta) was so beautiful. I love the rice, the raisins and other flavors were perfect. The combo was delicious as well, and perfect for me bc it allowed me to taste the different protein options instead of choosing just one. I loved our drinks as well. The black tea soothed my soul, you could taste the quality and it was served in a beautiful glass. And the pomango bliss (pomegranate mango juice) was also very tasty. The firnee (pudding) was good too, the flavors were very light and airy (kind of reminded me a little bit of rice pudding, the undertones of rice and the kind of gentle spices/sweetness typically paired with it).

Staff were very kind and attentive. I also noticed that they updated/decorated the interior (sorry I didn’t take much photos of that) but it looks very beautiful inside. The rugs, the upholstered chairs, artwork on the wall, and other decor really enhanced the experience. I love when people decorate a space with an intention.

“Barnshed Brewing is a cozy little down and dirty brewery in Hicksville. We visited them on a busy trivia night, and the place was packed! We stuck around for a flight and were pleasantly surprised by their jalapeño beer. Unfortunately, I think the beer may have been a limited run, but I hope they brew it again! It's not often we get to taste the perfect amount of spice to beer ratio.“

“After spending all morning playing games at the next door Round1, this restaurant was a good spot to get a relatively inexpensive and filling meal. Luckily when we visited, they had a promotion for buy one get one 50% off for adult entrees. I also had some reward points saved up which I redeemed for $5 off and a froyo cone. Lunchtime was quite busy but the line moves relatively quickly. They have cute little carts for food trays so there's no awkward game of balance as you try to spot a free table. You can grab your own metal utensils (forks, knives, spoons) and peruse the cold offerings like dessert, sandwiches and salads before getting to the hot food area.

We got an order of classic Swedish meatballs and feeling adventurous also added on an order of their plant-based meatballs (which did not hold a candle against the classic Swedish meatball). IKEA members get a free hot coffee or drink so be sure to grab a white cup for this. Teabags were by the register and hot water was by the hot coffee dispensers. Glass cups are for the soft drinks.

8 meatballs is a good portion for one person (since the dish comes with mashed potatoes, gravy, lingonberry jam and peas). We shared 12 Swedish and 8 plant balls and left absolutely stuffed after clearing both plates. Also sampled a bit of all the soft drinks they had available and I liked sparkling pear and sparkling lemon (reminds me of Sprite...but healthy?) the best. Made myself a milk tea by adding a bit of half-and-half and a packet of sugar to my hot tea.“

“This take away Chinese restaurant has been serving very good food for a long time, They took over from the former owner many years ago which was a big improvement for our Chinese food eating community. When I order meals consisting of steak, shrimp or chicken that primary part of the dish will be fresh and tasty. resulting in all their food getting a 4 star rating. Their appetizer are very good, might I suggest the Vegetable dumplings. The only appetizer I ask about before ordering is their Ribs. I have found it necessary to call the owner and voice my displeasure with their ribs as in "Where's the meat". One time our ribs were not up to our standards so now I ask and I will be save that disappointment if they are small.. Their soup is delicious my favorite, hot and sours soup.. My wife and I have tried just about everything on their extensive menu and it's all very good. Now that we found Leung How Kitchen we don't need to drive to Bethpage and order from a not very good Chinese restaurant: The Orient.where the food is just okay but their staff is condescending and rude. “Bakhtar Afghani Restaurant – A Hidden Gem of Authentic Afghan Cuisine Halal restaurant

I had the pleasure of dining at Bakhtar Afghani Restaurant recently, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the moment we walked in, the warm ambiance and the inviting aroma of grilled meats and spices made it clear we were in for something special.

The hospitality was top-notch. The staff greeted us with genuine smiles, and our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and eager to recommend popular dishes. We felt truly welcomed, as if we were guests in someone’s home.

We started with the Bolani, a traditional Afghan stuffed flatbread, which was perfectly crispy and flavorful. Then came the mantu – Afghan dumplings filled with seasoned ground beef and topped with yogurt and split peas – absolutely delicious and delicate in flavor.

The highlight, however, was the mixed grill platter. Each skewer was grilled to perfection – the chicken kebabs were juicy and well-marinated, the lamb chops were tender and bursting with flavor, and the kofta kebabs had just the right blend of spices. Every bite showcased the richness of Afghan culinary tradition.

The rice dishes deserve their own praise – the kabuli pulao in particular was phenomenal. Fluffy basmati rice layered with sweet carrots and raisins, paired with tender chunks of lamb – a true comfort dish that felt like it was made with love.

For dessert, we had the firni, a creamy Afghan rice pudding, subtly flavored with cardamom and garnished with pistachios. It was the perfect way to end our meal.

The portions were generous, the prices were very reasonable, and the quality of the food was outstanding. Whether you’re familiar with Afghan cuisine or trying it for the first time, Bakhtar is a must-visit. It’s a place that combines authenticity, flavor, and heartfelt service in a way that’s hard to find.
