My wife and I recently experienced the joy of hosting my son and daughter-in-law’s wedding rehearsal dinner for seventy family members and out-of-town friends. We have been regular customers at Umberto’s Pizzeria for years, next door to the restaurant, getting our weekly Sunday or Monday night pizza pie. Nevertheless, we had never previously ventured into their restaurant next door. What a pleasant surprise ! What a smart decision to book the party here at the renowned Umberto’s of New Hyde Park. The second floor of the restaurant opens up into a spacious, light-filled, warm and welcoming room, big enough to feel like a proper celebration event space. There was plenty of room for our family and friends to mingle and even plenty of space for the several toddlers in attendance to sit and play, and run around. They enjoyed the party as much as anyone ! The catering menu provided a wide variety of choices from appetizers, salads, pastas and main courses from which our son and daughter-in-law selected from to satisfy the preferences of all of our guests. The food was delicious, as we’ve come to expect. Also, thank goodness each table received a Grandma’s Pizza. An affair at Umberto’s isn’t complete without a taste of the Grandma Pizza. The wait staff couldn’t have been any more attentive and solicitous. They were sensational. It’s obvious what a well managed team this is, kudos to Katy and Gaetano. Thank you Umberto’s for making this a most memorable affair. One minor note - The menu, to our surprise, doesn’t include dessert. What’s an Italian meal without a tiramasu, cannoli, or napoleon ? “One of the best Kbbq if not the best kbbq restaurant I’ve ever been to. The eel was so fresh, the short rib was marinated to perfection. But the best thing on the table was the kimchi. The kimchi was crunchy, it was seasoned perfectly, and it was fermented just enough to pair perfectly with the proteins. The hospitality was amazing! The lady treated our party like her relatives and showed us what’s real hospitality is. My friends and I love how kind she was to us and we could not ask for a better meal. “I went to a family friend’s 70th birthday party they hosted in the Atlantic ballroom. The space was modern and very clean. The food was DELICIOUS!!! And the workers, Yiselle, Estrellita, and Shorty (blonde) made the event so memorable! They paid attention to every detail, whether it was filling our water cups, collecting unused plates and of course they did it all with a warm smile. They were kind, funny and very welcoming. To end on a high note for me is their beautifully made cappuccino. Davenport is conveniently located just a 3 mins walk from the beginning of Track 2 of the Mineola stop on the LIRR. It's a warm, reliable favorite that hasn't disappointed.“

Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The Pla Ma Nao was one of my favorites — the whole branzino was tender, and the spicy lime broth was bright, tangy, and full of Thai flavors. The Tom Yum seafood was also excellent, with a rich, spicy and sour broth and plenty of seafood.

The papaya salad (Som Tum) was fresh, crunchy, spicy and refreshing, and went perfectly with the heavier dishes. We ordered several dishes to share and honestly everything on the table worked really well together.

If you like authentic, bold Thai flavors, this is definitely a place worth trying. Highly recommend the Pla Ma Nao, Tom Yum, and papaya salad. We’ll definitely be back!“

Today I went for a lobster roll which replaced the shrimp roll. last year this lobster was so delicious 😋 couldn't wait till the summer. unfortunately, I was highly disappointed. it is not longer on a garlic bun and now served on a plain hot dog bun :( also flavorless! last yr price was $24 and now up to $28 with no flavor and blah bun. please bring back the recipe from years before. thanks“

“I came here for fresh seafood and ended up purchasing several prepared food items, since those are easy and looked well made. I tried both seafood and vegetable dishes. All were fresh and tasted delicious. I care about fresh seafood. Prices are not cheap, but with seafood, quality really matters. There also appears to be a sushi restaurant onsite, which I'll have to try next time I'm in town. Roslyn is fortunate to have several local gourmet markets and this counts.“

I’m personally not a big fan of “chaotic” dishes, so I really enjoyed how simple yet delicious everything was. I usually take pictures, but I forgot to take picture of any of the dishes i ate here because it was gone so quick.

Definitely recommend the scallops and octopus for appetizers and loved the orata and lobster roll for mains. My partner said he really enjoyed the burger as well!

Customer service was also excellent, from the time we came into the time we left everyone was extremely considerate and friendly.

“Hosted our wedding rehearsal dinner here and we are SO glad did - everything was perfect! Everyone could not get over how delicious all the food was. Danny worked with us to create a menu that was tailored to us and our guests and we got SO much food included in the package we did. He also worked with us to create table arrangements that worked best for our event. I was worried at first that the space only being partially private and not a true private room would be an issue but it was not at all! We really didn’t need it and were happy to still get to enjoy the Sinatra singer that plays for the restaurant that night. He even came over and sang for our party and had us dance which was not expected but a fun surprise that we loved! Overall we had a great event here and I am so happy we chose them to host it!“

“What an incredible dining experience at The Silent Sea in City Island, Bronx! From the location to the atmosphere and, of course, the food, everything was outstanding!

The restaurant is perfectly situated right at the entrance to City Island, and having parking available in the back is a huge plus, especially in this area. The atmosphere alone deserves an 11 out of 10!

We started with several appetizers, and every single one was delicious. The Greek fries were hands down the best fries I’ve ever had! The tuna tartare was incredibly fresh, the fried calamari was cooked to perfection, and the fried sardines were absolutely delicious.

For dinner, we ordered the lobster and the baked branzino. Both dishes were exceptional, not only in flavor but also in presentation. You can tell that attention is given to every detail.
