“The atmosphere was fantastic, with a great bohemian vibe. The food was excellent, but the service could definitely be improved. The special was never mentioned to us, even though it was what we initially wanted. Our water wasn’t refilled, and we had to ask multiple times. Additionally, an extra drink was added to our tab, and the complementary birthday drink was not removed.
We visited on a Sunday evening, and several items—one appetizer, two entrées, and two desserts—were sold out, but we weren’t informed until we tried to order them.“

“This place is deceptively bigger than expected. Decorated nicely with a good amount of simplicity. For eight of us, we got the Peruvian combo and full Jalea platter. It definitely fed all of us with some left over. Unfortunately, the chicken was a bit dry and under seasoned and there wasn't any fish with the Jalea platter. Our server was a bit pushy on getting more pitchers of sangria and tried several times to clear the table while we were still eating (a friend may have snapped a little bit to the server that we're not done after the fourth attempt of clearing the table).“

“En año nuevo fui a NYC, llegué aquí de noche, quise probar los cócteles y quedé sorprendido por lo bien mezclados que estuvieron, yo he trabajado en La Emolienteria Bar en Lima y soy difícil de complacer en mixología. Al día siguiente volví para probar la comida y estuvo excelente, con un sabor casero, idéntico a como se sirve en Perú, me fui muy contento y satisfecho. Gran trabajo Kausa, vales un Perú ‼️‼️ 🇵🇪😊“

“I sat in for dinner on a Sunday evening. We had the seafood paella, the pesto pasta, and the Causa! The food was amazing. I didn’t know what I expect as I’ve never had Peruvian food but I think it’s my new favorite spot!! Ingredients were so fresh and flavors were incredible. The atmosphere was also very cute - great vibes, fun bar and good drinks. Highly recommend!“

“Whole in the wall with authentic homemade Peruvian cuisine. The Lomo saltado was tender and perfectly seasoned. The fried plantains were sweet and perfectly fried to a carmelized golden brown crust. The Aji sauce was the icing on the cake??. Spicy as it should be, not for amateurs.“

“We had two nigiri, a roll, a yuzu avocado salad, some wine, on a Monday. All really very good and priced accordingly. Server friendly with no particular knowledge of sushi. Playlist awkwardly loud M.I.A., TLC etc., made the place feel kinda fast food despite the elegant interior but“

“We tried the shrimp chowder and camaron saltado! Mommy and I would have licked the bowl and plate, if we weren't in public! Then he brought out the passion fruit creme brulee...Heaven!!!!“

The concept of a bowl/diy in nyc is so common, but the offerings and flavors are brasa are truly special. Not to mention customer service is excellent

“This is a local Chinese/Peruvian food restaurant that gives new meaning to Chinese food! This fusion of flavors is amazing! I’ve had the steak with tostones, their chicharrón de pollo & many other delectable dishes. They also have a nice bar & make excellent Pisco sours which I can’t find in too many places! I live in Rockland County & the hubby & I take the trip about monthly just to eat here! Nothing fancy about the restaurant but definitely good eats! Highly recommend! The hubby &!I will definitely be back! 😋😋😋“

“Visited last Friday around 2pm. The food market was full but not too crowded, we waited 3 minutes for a table. The mall restrooms are close by, and the ladies line was about 7 minutes long.
Food was ready in 5 minutes. We tried Ají de Gallina, Seco and Lomo Saltado, and they were traditional and very tasty.“

“Long time neighborhood favorite for roast chicken served with a tangy garlic sauce. Spacing between tables is generous, staff is nice and helpful, and there's a pleasant track of Peruvian Andes music to set the mood. We chose to share their Peruvian Chicken platter, a $60 combo with a whole grilled chicken that melted off the bone; a large salad with tomatoes, lettuce and avocado; and a large plate of freshly made French fries. It's hard to eat on the UWS for $30 these days, and we had plenty to take home, so we thought it was a great casual meal option. Menu also features ceviche and Latin dishes like beans n'rice and yucca, skirt steak etc. A diverse group of neighbors, some elderly, gal pals, students and couples were obviously enjoying their meals, too.“

“First time coming to Pio Pio. It blows the Peruvian spots I’ve been to out of the water. All of the entrees were very flavorful. And portions are very generous as well. The service was great, our waitress was very attentive. I’ll definitely be trying out the other locations soon! Thanks again :)“

“Had a terrific lunch here. Some of the best ceviche I've ever eaten. Entrees were excellent and, according to my husband (who's been to Peru), authentic to the spirit of the country. I also got the arroz chufa with steak. Yum! Ample portions and good value. First meal on this trip to NYC and it'll be hard to beat. HIGHLY recommended.“

“This review is for the catering service from this 2nd Ave location. The staff was extremely kind and helpful throughout the whole process. Karla made great suggestions for our event and simplified the whole process for me. The food came right on time and was packaged so well that it stayed warm until we were ready to eat- more than an hour later. The one thing I would do differently next time is order a little less because the portions were very generous, especially for the price. Everyone at our event loved the taste of the food. Highly recommend!“
