“Everything was on another level. The food was fantastic and this is coming from someone who visited Peru recently. The atmosphere was very relaxed but not dull. The only thing I had a slight issue with was that the service was a bit rushed. I understand that they have turn over the tables but it shouldn't be at the cost of the customers comfort. But I would not hesitate to recommend this place to friends.“

“Really hyped, and with a lot of reviews, the expectations were high.
What was good?
When for starters the chicken was indeed quite good. But in the context of other Peruvian chicken I’ve had in the past, it was not extraordinary. Yes the skin was crispy and the meat was juicy. The arroz chaufa hit all the savory notes that I was looking for too. The sangria didn’t disappoint either.
What was bad?
Overall, not too much other than the sporadic and slightly chaotic service. Not necessarily any marks against Pio Pio for this, I think it was just a busy night.
The main issue I had was the frozen chicken used in the arroz chaufa. In a restaurant that is known for its chicken, you wouldn’t think they would cheap out on it at any point. But, this was simply not the case. It was dry, chewy, and clearly not as fresh as their rotisserie chicken.
It didn’t scare me off entirely from going back, but I was disappointed to say the least. Most people have extremely low bars for chicken as a meat they would spend money on at a restaurant. Don’t give people a reason to complain I just don’t get it. Looking back on it, I would have said something or sent the dish back, not because I’m an asshole, but because I know they can do better.“

“We had two nigiri, a roll, a yuzu avocado salad, some wine, on a Monday. All really very good and priced accordingly. Server friendly with no particular knowledge of sushi. Playlist awkwardly loud M.I.A., TLC etc., made the place feel kinda fast food despite the elegant interior but“

“We tried the shrimp chowder and camaron saltado! Mommy and I would have licked the bowl and plate, if we weren't in public! Then he brought out the passion fruit creme brulee...Heaven!!!!“

“You can never go wrong with a lomo saltado or a classic, original and how it’s supposed to be made, ceviche. The flavors were out of this world. Meat was cooked perfectly, sauce was perfect. The fettuccini with the homemade sauce was ridiculous. Gonna try making it at home for sure!! The ceviche was really good, the puréed sweet potato was a nice touch. Wish i had a bit more of a portion but all in all, very very good!“

“This is a local Chinese/Peruvian food restaurant that gives new meaning to Chinese food! This fusion of flavors is amazing! I’ve had the steak with tostones, their chicharrón de pollo & many other delectable dishes. They also have a nice bar & make excellent Pisco sours which I can’t find in too many places! I live in Rockland County & the hubby & I take the trip about monthly just to eat here! Nothing fancy about the restaurant but definitely good eats! Highly recommend! The hubby &!I will definitely be back! 😋😋😋“

“Long time neighborhood favorite for roast chicken served with a tangy garlic sauce. Spacing between tables is generous, staff is nice and helpful, and there's a pleasant track of Peruvian Andes music to set the mood. We chose to share their Peruvian Chicken platter, a $60 combo with a whole grilled chicken that melted off the bone; a large salad with tomatoes, lettuce and avocado; and a large plate of freshly made French fries. It's hard to eat on the UWS for $30 these days, and we had plenty to take home, so we thought it was a great casual meal option. Menu also features ceviche and Latin dishes like beans n'rice and yucca, skirt steak etc. A diverse group of neighbors, some elderly, gal pals, students and couples were obviously enjoying their meals, too.“

“Couldn't decide from the menu, so the group tried as many dishes as we could fit in our stomachs... honestly all amazing. Best empanadas we've ever had. Latin music was on point, and they've got bachata and salsa dancing every Tuesday and Sunday that gives the place a fun vibe!“

“This was an important evening. My best friend’s birthday, meeting my significant other for the first time and a lot to celebrate. Sam was our server and she was attentive, lovely, informed and provided an evening of perfect, friendly and personal service. We shared appetizers which were fabulous (calamari / don’t miss it) and we had specials; whole chicken which was super moist and so tasty; Salmon with a salad that was outstanding; and steak frites - a classic that was flawless, tender and shoestring French fired with herbs that were perfect! Sam surprised us with a beautiful cake and candles and sang along with us. \nThe ambiance of live plants and banquets is so lovely! Ian Schrager created magic in all he does and this restaurant is no exception - Stellar!“

“Had a terrific lunch here. Some of the best ceviche I've ever eaten. Entrees were excellent and, according to my husband (who's been to Peru), authentic to the spirit of the country. I also got the arroz chufa with steak. Yum! Ample portions and good value. First meal on this trip to NYC and it'll be hard to beat. HIGHLY recommended.“

“On the street level, the place appears to be a small Mom and pop's restaurant... However much to my delight when we were being seated we were led downstairs to a huge dining room! While the ambiance was impeccable, the food was average!“

“SUCH a hidden gem!! and amazing delicious affordable plates. Super low key and down to earth spot but the food is incredible. Also $12 can get you a loaded peruvian chicken plate… can’t find this type of deal anywhere else in manhattan. Recommend their peruvian chicken, their la positiva sandwich and their juices are all made fresh!“

“I've been on a mission to try every Peruvian pollo a la brasa in NYC, hoping to find the ones that have the same taste as the ones back in Lima. Chrip is nearly spot on. Amazing tasting chicken that actually tastes like Peruvian pollo a la brasa instead of the 5 spices some other places do. Chicken was so succulent. The green sauce was so good.
The other star of the show here is the Pork confit sandwich which is a nod to the traditional Peruvian pan con chicharrón. It was SOO GOOD. Pork was so tender and the flavours were incredible. I've been back a few times and gotten it every time.
Probably my fave Peruvian pollo spot in Manhattan at the moment. Highly recommend!“
