“On the advice of a friend who regularly visits Fire Island, our family of eight, including a four-year-old and an infant, had an amazing dinner experience at Albatross tonight. I was somewhat apprehensive because the restaurant's Google rating was lower than that of another restaurant where we had had a disappointing lunch the first day of our stay. So I wanted to write my five-star review as soon as possible.

Our positive experience began when we dropped by during the afternoon to get the hostess's advice on how to procure a table for eight people -- without a reservation! -- on a busy Saturday night. She told us that if we came before 6:00 they would probably be able to accommodate us.

This is exactly what happened. When we arrived we were immediately seated at a comfortable table near the window. The attentive waitstaff quickly took our drink orders and, shortly thereafter, our meal orders.

I was worried that our small children might become difficult while we ate two courses (starters and a main course). However, our server brought our starters quickly, and the main course soon after clearing our dishes from the first course. The timing was perfect!

The food was perfect, too. I enjoyed my New England clam chowder, one of the best versions I've tasted. The table shared top-notch oysters, steamers, fried calamari, and Buffalo wings. Our mains, which included grilled fish, linguine with white clam sauce, and penne with vodka source and grilled shrimp, were uniformly excellent, with quality ingredients and preparation. For example, the grilled broccoli that accompanied my barramundi was so flavorful that it transcended the norm for this standard vegetable.

With our meal we enjoyed a bottle of white wine at a fair price.

This review may sound too favorable to be true, but it accurately describes our experience. I recommend Albatross wholeheartedly.“

Any meal I had there was excellent. The service is impeccable. The atmosphere is family oriented. So it is like having a hug with dinner. I like that appetizers, soup, salad, main meal are brought out in steps. That way you can enjoy the courses. This has been my favorite spot to eat since last summer. Had taken my family members there. Me and one of my good friends go there all the time. My first time there, they made me mocktails that I requested. They were great.

“Yesterday I had my daughter’s bridal shower at the Lakehouse. The event coordinator, Annalisa was a pleasure to work with. ALL of my guests raved about the food, service and atmosphere. Some of the men stayed and Annalisa set them up outside on the deck for lunch instead of inside the bar since it was a beautiful day. She also suggested having dessert served outside which could not have been better. My guests enjoyed the beautiful view and all of the outdoor seating. I would highly recommend having an event here.“

Great vibe as soon as you walk in….friendly and cheerful staff, nice decor, immediate service. I had the “The ‘Ol Barnyard”…..the sausage gravy was excellent with big chunks of sausage and super flavorful…..probably the best I’ve had here in NY and most of the South!!! The bacon was high quality and very tasty. My perfect over easy eggs were so fresh (yes, I can taste the freshness and quality just by having a bite of the whites!). My husband had a “Create Your Own Omelette” and declared that is was a “work of art” (I was offended because I make a darn good omelette and he never said that to me!) We were concerned about the “hash browns” because that usually means just cubed and fried potatoes, so we were very pleasantly surprised at the delicious shredded and seasoned, crispy but soft hash browns. Our regular coffee was good and hot, and they offer several “craft” coffee options. The Banana Foster French toast looked delectable! The lunch menu looks good, as well. We’ll definitely be back.“

I travel 15 miles to get here and every time it's been great food and amazing service. Don't know why I've waited so long to write a review but I hope they get the recognition they deserve. “I had my daughter’s Jack & Jill Baby Shower there on Saturday 7/25/26 at the Bay Shore location.
105 people attended , and I have to say Mike Grilli did a phenomenal job taking care of anything we needed during the party and while we were setting the room up. He and his crew were eager to help!
He asked us often is everything OK and if we needed anything let him know. Also his staff/crew were awesome! We got a lot of compliments on the quality and taste of the food! The food was delicious!! And, they kept it coming! The variety of beers, wines, vodka seltzers, hard ciders, vodka for simple mixed drinks and a surprisingly good bourbon (and rye whiskey) really seemed to please everyone. I would definitely have another party there and recommend to friends & family!
