Instead, we found this place to eat. It's a buffet style place with only one booth style table. The best thing was that the food was good and the price was right.“

“I can’t rave enough about my experience at Ras. I had great service and probably the best meal during my visit to NYC. I came for lunch on a weekday and the whole menu, including brunch, was available. Since they are 100% vegan, it also meant that I could order anything and everything. Can there be too many choices? Everything looked great, but my waiter convinced me to get the chef’s special kitfo. There was also a nice selection of NA mixed drinks, and I ordered the Crown Heights queen—watermelon, ginger beer, mint and lime. I loved every sip and every bite of my meal. The chef’s special was packed with flavor and different textures. Each bite felt unique from the last. Kitfo is typically a ground beef, and their version is made from soy. That alone had such incredible flavor like it had been nicely browned to build out the complexity of the dish. The drink was equally good. I could have started on a second meal immediately after finishing my lunch. Not because I was hungry, simply because the food blew my mind. Updated from previous review on 2026-04-17“

“Great take on Lu rou fan (minced pork and rice), excellent scallion pancakes and awesome dessert (Tian miantuan) that was like a sandwich of sweet fried dough, golden sesame ice cream and condensed milk (plus cilantro and butter dried peanuts)! “I ride hard for this restaurant because not only is the food delicious and well priced, but it is one of increasingly few restaurants in the area (or even the city...) where you can sit down at 10:30 or 11:00pm and have a full meal without being rushed. This has become a vestige of old New York because people have started eating so early since covid. Drives me crazy. Thank god for Tabare. It's also super cozy and dark, great for small groups or a date.“

My wife, our dog, and I came in for dinner and had an amazing experience from start to finish! The service was exceptional, and the owner was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and kind.

We ordered the chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, mango lassi, garlic & chili naan vegetable and chicken samosas, gulab jamun, and even received a delicious rice pudding on the house. Everything was absolutely phenomenal. Honestly, the food was so good that I forgot to take pictures before digging in!

The flavors were incredible, the portions were generous, and every dish was made with care. I walked out feeling like I had gained 10 pounds—but it was worth every bite!
