“A beef empanada from this cart on Austin Street was the first thing I ever ate when I moved to NYC. Y'all, it was GREAT. The local who insisted I had to grab one as we walked by absolutely knew what he was talking about. Abuela's Empanadas was my introduction to the fat-kid status that would come to describe the entire time I lived in New York City as a Midwestern transplant, lol. I still remember my eyes popping out of my head as I realized how good this was and that if this was what I was getting from a random food cart, I'd want to try every restaurant in the city.“

“My husband and I made the long drive yesterday (2 1/2 hrs each way) from upstate NY to visit our daughter in NYC just for the day. While strolling around her neighborhood we came upon your lovely bakery and cafe and after eyeing the beautiful carrot cake in the window, we had to go in. Carrot cake is my favorite sweet treat. There were so many beautiful choices, but we got 2 slices of carrot cake to take back home with us. After the long drive back home we were really looking forward to a piece of cake and a cup of coffee. I opened one of the beautifully packed boxes, which revealed an enormous slice of yumminess!! The slice was big enough for at least 3 people. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Everything about this cake was phenomenal. The frosting was outstanding, the cake was so flavorful and moist. It was the best we’ve ever had. We have enough left for a few days. I’m so glad we stopped in. It was a great way to end our lovely day in the city and will most certainly go back on our next trek in . I will also have to get our daughter pick up some baked goods when she’s coming home for a visit. I highly recommend Crumbly Cafe & Bakery😊😊“

“Not enough stars for Nick & Sons! Everything they make is incredible, I especially love the zaatar and chocolate croissants and cardamom bun. I know how difficult it is to keep things consistent due to humidity, proof time etc but compared to a lot of the bakeries in the area they do a really good job at not over/under baking. There could be a line most days but it goes fast and everyone’s super nice and friendly“

Okay… I get the hype now. These cookies are NEXT LEVEL! I thought they were just another NYC trend, but no — there’s nothing like them. Crunchy on the outside, warm and gooey inside, with chocolate that literally melts in your mouth.

I tried the dulce de leche with coconut and wow… it was love at first bite. Sweet but not overwhelming, with the perfect chewy texture. It’s huge too — definitely shareable, but honestly, you’ll want it all for yourself.

The vibe is cozy, the staff is fast and friendly, and even with the line, it’s worth every minute. If you’re around Central Park or the Upper East Side, don’t leave without grabbing one. Trust me — once you taste it, you’ll never look at cookies the same way again. 🍪✨“

“Interior/outside terrace: the interior is very functional, very few inside seating options. But it’s not like a comfy café. They do have a small outside seating area, which is nice, nothing special, but if you get a table there, you can enjoy your croissants in the sun.

Food quality/price: good selection of savoury & sweet food, very delicious. I got an earl grey bun & a pistachio croissant. Both very delicious, like out of another world. Loved them. I found their food to be quite expensive.
Suggestion: why not making tiny versions of the different treats (to a smaller price as well of course), so solo-visitors can try more delicious treats?

“Haven't really had any of the issues the negative reviews seem to be indicating. Service has always been pleasant in my experience. I mostly go for the hokkaido bread and have not had quality issues with any of my purchases. Would very much still recommend, especially if you live in the area and are looking for variety in pastries and bread options!“

“LOVE! The lines are long on weekends as is the wait but it is worth every moment when you sink into their Rainbow Whip - the creamiest, sweetest, most amazing dessert with ice cream-like vibes. But there is no additional sugar added and it's totally clean. I have also had the Pistachio and Cashew Whips - both addictive. Their baked goods are equally excellent - it's hard to find vegan, GF dessert that's also really good. Dying to have a panini but it's always sold out. It's run by two women - sisters - who manage the crowds well. It's hard when you have a throng of hungry, impatient New Yorkers but being there feels homey and cozy. They deserve all the credit they're getting. I hope they expand.“

The Chocolate Chip Walnut was the ultimate balance of everything you look for in a comfort treat while the Funfetti flavor caught me by surprise and is now considered the best sugar cookie I ever had in my life. “I wanted to LOVE LOVE and be super hype about my first time purchasing a cake from here but unfortunately it wasn't what I thought it was but I still give it a 4 stars because maybe it was my fault for misreading the description. I ordered the Red rosette cake apparently only sides were buttercream frosting but I assumed all of the icing would be buttercream . In our opinion ( and my fiances opinion, I bought it for his birthday) we found the red icing to be extremely bitter, no butter cream flavor whatsoever and the white part wasn't very sweet at all. We just didn't find the icing tasty at all but the inside was moist and the dulce de lece was a nice light flavor. I would say make sure you know for sure what you are ordering and ask to clarify to be sure . Other then that the cake was beautiful. I think the customer service could be more friendly but I understand business can make one be assertive at times. I also found it strange they didn't have a box big enough for the cake to properly cover it and we had to place it in the car open . Not used to that but hey, like I said beautiful cakes and clarify what you want to make sure they are on the same page with you with your expectations“

“It's been a hot hot hot minute since I came here after I moved to Long Island Suburbs. My son's big day today and I took a trip here to pick up my custom strawberry cake layered with their famous lightly sweetened freshly whipped cakes. When you step inside It's as if you step back in time. My mom first took me here when I was 11 or 12 and this place still look the same. The bakery captures a lot of customers from the surrounding businesses such as the hospital. It's great to see a flow a diverse crowd visiting this Gem. I also picked up half dozen curry beef pastry and their chicken rolls. I took a bite and taste just like my first time eating them in the 1990s when I was a little boy. When I want a good delicious healthier cake I come to Yeh's.“

“Seriously the BEST bagels EVER!! We're from California and I grew up eating bagels and deli... there are no bagels that even compare to Utopia bagels.
Service was excellent, took a little while as it was SO busy but it was absolutely worth the wait!! Obviously amazing when locals are lined up out the door to get bagels.
We were waiting for our order and the nicest man with a New York accent asked our boys if they've ever had a fresh bagel out of the oven, we of course said No, and he gave them a fresh, hot bagel that was to die for!!
My only negative is that we don't have a Utopia bagels in California hahah! Let me know when you want to open one near me!🤩“

The business has been on Garvey for 17 years and I think it’s because he stayed true to himself, pork free soulfood, chopped chicken barbecue sandwiches, Poboy and homemade iced teas and let’s not forget about the desserts which I didn’t get to get any because I’m on a sweet break but next time I pop in I’m definitely getting a sweet potato cheesecake. Now for my sandwich, I had four juicy shrimp on 1/2 and on the other two pieces of flounder garnish with a secret sauce and a slaw mix toasted to perfection. It was so delicious. Café Saint-Michel serves some of the most interesting coffee drinks in the neighborhood—my favorite is the black sesame latte. Deep, mellow, a little mysterious. The pastries rotate seasonally, but the rhubarb custard danish with orange-laminated dough. No words. Buttery folds that melt into each other like silk in heat.

When I bite into the center, the true middle, it hits: thin flaky crust, thick custard, tart rhubarb exploding across tongue and cheek. It reminds me of the first month of falling for someone you’ll eventually love. That exact bite. Divine craving, new flavors, heady aromas. Intoxicating. Fleeting. There’s only ever one bite like that. The danish builds to it. My last relationship started there. One perfect mouthful, then it was all downhill, like heli-skiing a black diamond at Snowbird. Exhilarating. Dangerously consuming. Then gone in a rush of chilled air.

After the pastry, I usually sip my black sesame latte on the walk home. It’s mellow and wide. A gentle counterpoint to all that sweetness. It reminds me of what happens after love.
