Abuela's Empanadas was my introduction to the fat-kid status that would come to describe the entire time I lived in New York City as a Midwestern transplant, lol. I tried the dulce de leche with coconut and wow… it was love at first bite. Sweet but not overwhelming, with the perfect chewy texture. It’s huge too — definitely shareable, but honestly, you’ll want it all for yourself.

The vibe is cozy, the staff is fast and friendly, and even with the line, it’s worth every minute. If you’re around Central Park or the Upper East Side, don’t leave without grabbing one. Trust me — once you taste it, you’ll never look at cookies the same way again. 🍪✨“

“Interior/outside terrace: the interior is very functional, very few inside seating options. But it’s not like a comfy café. They do have a small outside seating area, which is nice, nothing special, but if you get a table there, you can enjoy your croissants in the sun.

Food quality/price: good selection of savoury & sweet food, very delicious. I got an earl grey bun & a pistachio croissant. Both very delicious, like out of another world. Loved them. I found their food to be quite expensive.
Suggestion: why not making tiny versions of the different treats (to a smaller price as well of course), so solo-visitors can try more delicious treats?

“My husband and I made the long drive yesterday (2 1/2 hrs each way) from upstate NY to visit our daughter in NYC just for the day. While strolling around her neighborhood we came upon your lovely bakery and cafe and after eyeing the beautiful carrot cake in the window, we had to go in. Carrot cake is my favorite sweet treat. There were so many beautiful choices, but we got 2 slices of carrot cake to take back home with us. After the long drive back home we were really looking forward to a piece of cake and a cup of coffee. I opened one of the beautifully packed boxes, which revealed an enormous slice of yumminess!! The slice was big enough for at least 3 people. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Everything about this cake was phenomenal. The frosting was outstanding, the cake was so flavorful and moist. It was the best we’ve ever had. We have enough left for a few days. I’m so glad we stopped in. It was a great way to end our lovely day in the city and will most certainly go back on our next trek in . I will also have to get our daughter pick up some baked goods when she’s coming home for a visit. I highly recommend Crumbly Cafe & Bakery😊😊“

“I was so surprises to see this cozy bake shop inside of Teazzi! The selection is pretty good, and so are the prices for the items there. I definitely recommend the taro salted egg bun. The strongest point for this bakery is the minimal list of ingredients for items. Minimal fillers and minimal preservatives!!“

“LOVE! The lines are long on weekends as is the wait but it is worth every moment when you sink into their Rainbow Whip - the creamiest, sweetest, most amazing dessert with ice cream-like vibes. But there is no additional sugar added and it's totally clean. I have also had the Pistachio and Cashew Whips - both addictive. Their baked goods are equally excellent - it's hard to find vegan, GF dessert that's also really good. Dying to have a panini but it's always sold out. It's run by two women - sisters - who manage the crowds well. It's hard when you have a throng of hungry, impatient New Yorkers but being there feels homey and cozy. They deserve all the credit they're getting. I hope they expand.“

“Small café, but very bright, clean, and airy. There was was a small loveseat, a couple barstools, one or two cafe tables with 2 seats, a bench with a cushion and 3 café tables out on the sidewalk. Came in about 1:30pm, and were greeted warmly. Almost all of the pastries were gone, but the cheese with fig danish and the plain croissant they had left were good. We also tried the matcha lemonade, strawberry matcha and a hot black sesame latte. I liked the sesame latte A LOT, the strawberry was good, and I personally hated the lemonade, but that is a personal preference thing. The good thing about it is it isn't too sweet, but it was heavy on the matcha, so it tasted like liquid grass to me. I definitely like nuttier sencha tea better. The prices were average for the area, and since everything is pricey now, it is what it is.

There were other patrons there, busily working and looked like they had been there for quite a while, which tells me it may be a good place to sit and focus for an hour or two.

My party of three sat outside and because it is located in a predominantly residential area, it was a nice place to sit since there aren't tons of pedestrians. There were a few bees/wasps though, so we had to leave after a bit(highly allergic). There were also mosquitos and lantern bugs around--I suspect there is some standing water on a roof nearby.

I will definitely walk over here again to get that sesame latte, and maybe stay and pretend looking productive. But I'll definitely come back.“

Service was excellent, took a little while as it was SO busy but it was absolutely worth the wait!! Obviously amazing when locals are lined up out the door to get bagels.
We were waiting for our order and the nicest man with a New York accent asked our boys if they've ever had a fresh bagel out of the oven, we of course said No, and he gave them a fresh, hot bagel that was to die for!!

“I wanted to LOVE LOVE and be super hype about my first time purchasing a cake from here but unfortunately it wasn't what I thought it was but I still give it a 4 stars because maybe it was my fault for misreading the description. I ordered the Red rosette cake apparently only sides were buttercream frosting but I assumed all of the icing would be buttercream . In our opinion ( and my fiances opinion, I bought it for his birthday) we found the red icing to be extremely bitter, no butter cream flavor whatsoever and the white part wasn't very sweet at all. We just didn't find the icing tasty at all but the inside was moist and the dulce de lece was a nice light flavor. I would say make sure you know for sure what you are ordering and ask to clarify to be sure . Other then that the cake was beautiful. I think the customer service could be more friendly but I understand business can make one be assertive at times. I also found it strange they didn't have a box big enough for the cake to properly cover it and we had to place it in the car open . Not used to that but hey, like I said beautiful cakes and clarify what you want to make sure they are on the same page with you with your expectations“

The business has been on Garvey for 17 years and I think it’s because he stayed true to himself, pork free soulfood, chopped chicken barbecue sandwiches, Poboy and homemade iced teas and let’s not forget about the desserts which I didn’t get to get any because I’m on a sweet break but next time I pop in I’m definitely getting a sweet potato cheesecake. I got their Levain a la mode- you choose any cookie and pair it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I got the dark chocolate chocolate chip cookie, which was $5.75 and the scoop of vanilla ice cream was $4.75. So in total I paid $10.50 for the cookie and ice cream combo. The cookie was fresh, soft, and gooey and reminded me of a brownie! I wish they have more ice cream flavors in the future :)“
