“Zhumi is a hidden gem. This small unsuspecting storefront in Whitestone revealed itself to be a welcoming environment for superb homemade Mexican food. I highly suggest the tacos and mulitas done with handmade tortillas. Everything we tried was delicious, down to the flan and horchata. Family operation. Everyone was very kind. Great service. They were very kind, welcoming and family oriented here. The place is small, I will say, it’s way smaller than I expected but nonetheless, we were quickly seated and the music was good the entire time. This was a memorable experience , thank you!“

“Found this place online. We ordered chilaquiles con salsa verde , French toast & iced cafe de olla. The place gives a Mexican home style atmosphere. It’s a small space & got busy after 11:30am on a Saturday. We got seated quickly. The chilaquiles were shareable and had a mild spicy. The French Toast was MASSIVE and shareable. The crust was slightly too toasted making it a bit difficult to cut through. The arrangement of fruit was nice tho. They added mango which was a nice touch. The cafe con olla does well iced and definitely has the olla taste. Highly recommend the chilaquiles con steak y salsa verde. The staff were very friendly.“

Got the quesabirria con consume & the Al Pastor tacos. Quesabirria was solid but the Al Pastor was truly a standout. Some of the best I’ve ever had, and I lived in San Diego for a couple years.

Great drinks, only minor complaint was that the drinks didn’t have a price on the menu, but nothing ended up being excessive.

“I used to come here for their lunch specials, which unfortunately are no longer available, but I still enjoy coming for lunch. I love their protein options, especially the tofu — it is absolutely amazing and one of the best tofu dishes I have had.

We started with the trio of moles which were delicious, though the lightest one they offered did taste surprisingly close to vodka / tomato sauce, they provided tortillas which was nice but not nearly enough (we had to ask for more and then they charged us extra for it, despite not giving us enough the first time). The menu is rather short, so make sure there are things you like before going. The tlayuda with added meat was delicious, as were the tacos (which were $10 each) and the fluke aguachile also good (watermelon in summer is always a welcome treat).“
